Cheap loans: Do they exist?
2007-06-07 01:26:39
Well…frankly tell me have you ever heard about cheap loans? I mean get real… the word ‘cheap’ and ‘loans’ are certainly no best pals. The main point is that the loan is cheap for whom? The consumer or the bank? Although, lenders try their level best to pacify us by saying that they offer the cheapest APRs and so on. But, the 6.7% interest rate may not be applicable for you and me bro….All financial lending institutions have their own stratification of clients. It’s only the upper crust…the ones with a stable income and spotless credit record gets cheap loans at low rates. The rest of us…the ones who really need the loans have to struggle through the entire procedure of knocking god knows how many doors. Although, lenders are a dime a dozen in the market, it is still a problem to get competitive personal loans. On top of that if you are a self employed loan seeker like me…then it’s certainly no sweet journey. F

Personal loans are far better than credit cards
2007-06-01 01:46:16
All those who think that using credit card gives free access to money are absolutely right. But those who believe that you have a no-fee credit card, think again. Even if your card doesn't levy an annual fee, the sponsor would have surely has loaded it with nickel-and-dime charges that can really add up and cost you heavily. According to RK Hammer, a bank-card advisory firm in the UK, card issuers took in $13 billion in fees last year, not counting $12 billion in late fees. This has raised alarms and concerns over the fact that how much money do we waste by spending through our credit and store cards. Personal Loans, on the other hand, turn out to be much more cost-effective and profitable in terms of the APR charged and other costs. Everything is mentioned in the loan agreement and generally if you take personal loans from FISA registered and regulated lender, there are no hidden charges. But, the credit card companies can screw you up and you could end up in taking a pool of

A loan against your car
2007-05-31 07:20:37
Do you know that you can take out personal loans against your logbook - a vehicle registration certificate issued by Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK? Yes, it is really simple and you can get it very quickly. As far as I know, the logbook in its new form is now called V5C. Anyhow, I am more interested in the borrowing aspect rather than the technicalities. I think very few of us are aware of this type of loan. Personal loans against your vehicle’s registration certificate - it sounds good. So, if you are a UK resident who has a logbook registered in his name, you are eligible for a loan. The lenders retain the logbook of the borrowers with them and give personal loans of up to £50,000. The loan amount is calculated on the basis of the value of your car. The loan process is very swift. Many lending websites have an online application form which you are required to fill. The information includes your personal details such as your name, the loan amount

Personal loans – A comparative study
2007-05-29 23:57:05
For personal needs, personal loan are most suitable. Available in both secured and unsecured form, this loan category provides suitable credit solutions for both short-term and long-term needs. Besides, its flexible nature, adds-up to its popularity. The secured type of personal loans can only be availed by homeowners and property owners. Availed by pledging collateral, the advantages of this sub-type are quick attention, high credit range (as high as £250,000), low interest rates (as low as 6.7%), diverse payback rates and methods, and negotiable loan terms and conditions. The unsecured type of personal loans can be availed by all – tenants, homeowners, property owners and students as well. Availed without pledging collateral, the advantages of this sub-type are no time-consuming property evaluation procedure leading to less paperwork and quick loan approval. A versatile source of finance
2007-05-29 02:30:35
You may be a tenant, a homeowner, a self employed professional or a businessman with varying circumstances and varying financial needs. A businessman can take out commercial loans and fulfil his business aspirations. Similarly, a homeowner can apply for secured loan. However, personal loans can fulfil the needs of virtually every section of the society. Whether you are a homeowner, a tenant or a businessman, such loans can provide you monetary assistance at competitive rates. Many types of loans are available in the UK financial market that can take care of the varying needs of the people. Gone are the days when people used to take loans only for selective purposes. Now-a-days, it is as mundane as buying fuel for your vehicle. Today, taking out a loan is not a matter of need alone; it has practical become a culture. The controlled and regulated competitive expansion of the UK lending market is mainly responsible for this change in people’s approach. Many government and volun

Personal loans and the calculation of interest
2007-05-25 01:56:24
I discovered a very important thing but only after I had taken a personal loan where ‘the rule of 78’ was applicable. Therefore, I decided to share my experience with all the prospective loan seekers through this blog. It may help you if any such occasion arises where you have to rely on a loan. Do you know that personal loans where ‘the rule of 78’ applies can be more expensive than that with a loan where mere ‘simple interest’ is involved? Yes, it is true but it is applicable only when you repay your loan earlier than its term. If you don't terminate your loan early, the simple interest loan and the Rule of 78 loans will be equivalent - you will be paying the same amount. The crux of the matter is that if you decide to pay your loan early, you will end up paying more interest with a ‘Rule of 78’ loan than with the corresponding ‘simple interest’ loan. So, if you think that in future you would be able to repay your loan

Personal loans for financial troubles
2007-05-18 01:45:14
Loans can really help you get out of financial trouble but there are certain limitations for their usage and availability. Especially in the case of high-street banks and building societies, you need to strictly adhere to the term and conditions of the loan agreement. I went for a loan to a high-street bank twice but my loan application got rejected, once because I had bad credit and then because I did not have any security to offer to the lender. Personal loans are one such loan products that can be used for just any purpose and they don't even require any security in lieu of the loan. Although all cozy detective novellas firmly state that where money is concerned, it is advisable to trust nobody. But, the online lenders can well be trusted for their loan deals. They mostly consist of sub-prime lenders who give personal loans to those with bad credit and CCJ records. If you are suffering from adverse credit, personal loan taken from online lenders are the best way. These loans n

Approval system of secured credit
2007-05-04 22:55:16
The overall loan approval procedure of secured personal loans is time-consuming and involves a lot of paperwork. However, it is also the most certain way of getting the best possible deal. According to the latest figures, the total secured lending on homes at the end of February 2007 stood at £1097 billion. And, that the market of secured personal loans has increased by 11.6% in the last 12 months. Secured personal loans are availed by placing an asset (like home) as collateral. Presence of collateral ensures that the borrower will honour the contract because repeated defaults or non-payment can lead to collateral seizure. But, borrowers can easily do away with the risk factors by paying the EMI’s (Equal Monthly Instalments = Principle + Interest) on time and in full. Secured personal loans are very safe for the lenders. Hence, the loan requests get quick attention along with other basic benefits like high credit range, competitive interest rates and flexible payback

Payment protection insurance and personal loans
2007-05-04 03:23:38
Did someone say that payment protection insurance (PPI) is a waste of resources? I would like them to reconsider the statement. If by paying in peanuts, you can secure your repayments worth thousands of pounds then there should not be any reservations on PPI. Many people take out personal loans by guaranteeing repayment through a security. Deep down everyone knows that taking a loan may translate into risk of repossession. If you have given some asset as a security to the lender then you are in for trouble whenever you make any default in repayment of the loan amount. PPI is an effective way of securing your repayments. I will tell you how a PPI works. Like all other insurance schemes, it too provides you a relief in the event of some adverse circumstances like loss of job, permanent physical disability, illness, accident, death, etc. Your repayments will continue as if nothing has happened. It is a useful protection provided to you that assume your liability if any of the conditi

Metaweblog API
2007-06-23 06:38:12
The next -- and Enterprise -- version of the BlogMatrix Platform will support the Metaweblog API; that is, you will be able to post to BlogMatrix using posting tools such as Windows Live Writer (my favorite, though don't let it screw up your IE settings) or w.Bloggar. The official "endpoint" for Metaweblog XML/RPC calls will be: http://userid.blogmatrix.com/:admin/xmlrpc/metaweblog/. At some point we'd like to support the Atom API, Google GData-style, but library support on Python at this time is lacking. Tags: api · enterprise 2.0 · blogmatrix platform

E-Mail and Enterprise 2.0
2007-06-21 11:04:48
Jason Hiner at TechRepublic writes: I don’t believe that the collaboration tools of Enterprise 2.0 are about replacing e-mail as much as they are about allowing e-mail to simply be a messaging platform and not a collaboration platform. Right now in most organizations, e-mail is the primary means for sharing and collaborating on files and doing group-think for geographically dispersed groups. However, e-mail was never designed for those functions and is not very good at them. The Enterprise version of the BlogMatrix Platform tries to integrate the strengths of blogging and email, allowing blogging (and commenting) to be done via e-mail, and blogs read via automatic e-mail sending. Younger Workers Demanding Web 2.0 Tech
2007-06-21 10:58:41
Sharon Gaudin at Information Week writes: Younger employees -- like that new batch of college grads hitting the market right now -- are going to be pushing employers to use Web 2.0 technologies on the job. And if their companies don't start adopting them, younger workers will most likely just start using them on the sly. "The upcoming generation is going to have a major impact on business. She will expect to have access to her tools in the workplace," said Marthin De Beer, a senior VP with Cisco Systems. "It would be like someone from my generation not having access to e-mail and instant messaging. If they don't get this stuff, they probably won't be there for a long time." BlogMatrix LDAP integration
2007-06-21 09:23:35
One exciting feature we've added to the BlogMatrix Platform is LDAP integration . What is this? Well, briefly, instead of users having to create and maintain accounts, user ids, and passwords, the BlogMatrix Platform can contact your "directory server" and get this information. This effectively makes the BlogMatrix Platform SSO within your organization. In practice, this means you can drop the BlogMatrix Platform into a shop on a Linux machine, point it at your OpenLDAP, Active Directory, Isode, Java System Directory (etc) server and you're in business. Creating an account just becomes like logging in: just enter your network User ID and Password and your BlogMatrix account is enabled. Creating an account just becomes like logging in: just enter your network User ID and Password and your BlogMatrix account is enabled. Configuring LDAP is fairly simple. Just set BM_LDAP_* in BM_CONFIG.sh during installation. For example: export BM_LDAP_HOST="localhost" export BM_LDAP_

Micro Killer Apps
2007-04-13 07:33:03
Henry Story has a nice organizing concept for Web 2.0: Web 2.0 is all about micro killer apps. These are killer apps that are so simple its difficult to explain them to people. Each one of them does one tiny little thing very well. del.icio.us does bookmarking right. flickr does photo sharing and tagging. RSS/Atom helps keep track of changes to resources. A brief insight about posts, social bookmarking and the front page
2007-07-31 17:48:25
You can probably jam a lot of stuff into a blog database -- social bookmarks and lifestream pull feeds, for example -- if you can mark it "not front page eligible". This would also mean that they shouldn't show up in syndication feeds and maybe in some archives, though the latter will require more though. Tags: thoughts · blogging · tagging

Fred Cavazza: What is Enterprise 2.0
2007-07-31 17:40:56
Fred Cavazza has an interesting and link-rich post on Enterprise 2.0: To make a long story short, it means using inside an enterprise the successful tools of web 2.0. Please, do not sum-up this to internal blogs or wikis, this notion gather much richer fields and above all implies deep mutations which go farther than rolling-out new tools. Also note the emphasis in this diagram of (1) user centricity (2) syndication (3) apis; it's hard to disagree with this though I expect that syndication, perhaps coupled with Atom Publishing Protocol-style push (also see our posts on GData), will probably remain far more important than APIs. We'll see. On e-mail: Internal communication gets more simpler: no more lost emails, stacked replies where someone is always missing in CC, doubles and susceptibility management (”I am the project leader, why am I only in CC?“). Everything is handled by the blog engine: publication, comments, archives, categories… Blo

August is post-a-day month!
2007-07-31 16:46:30
Sorry for the long radio silence; we've been busy trying to get the BlogMatrix Platform in the can, which has included literally hundreds of install-and-test cycles. As we prepped the package, it became evident that one critically important part of the picture was missing: some form of social networking, particularly the ability to arbitrarily form groups, aggregate posts, add "friendships" (though we're not sold on this word), etc.. Fortunately, most of the pieces for this are were around, just a reasonable amount of polishing and testing was needed. So, hoping for a September grand opening, we're making August "at-least-a-post-a-day" month, we're we'll talk about what we're doing and how it all fits into the structure of an Enterprise 2.0 organization. E-mail integration and the BlogMatrix Platform
2007-08-02 14:15:07
An essential feature for bringing blogging into the Enterprise (in our opinion) is quality e-mail integration . Initially, the bulk of people within the corporation are not going to be comfortable with running blogging tools, using RSS subscriptions, etc.. Everyone does know how to e-mail and usually has e-mail running. So here's what we're doing: anyone creating a post can choose to push the post out as e-mail to a chosen set of recipients. Once you've create a recipient list it can be reused as a mailing list. anyone leaving a comment on a post will receive all future comments on that post via e-mail if a post or comment has been mailed to you, you can respond to the e-mail and it will be posted as a comment if the blog owner e-mails BlogMatrix, their e-mail will be converted to a post. If there is a leading link, it will be added as a social bookmark type link. If there are attachments, they will be added appropriately as enclosures. If there is no subject, BlogM

Social Network Feature: the "Network"
2007-08-01 18:30:08
We're just putting the finishing touches on a new (but critical!) feature for the the BlogMatrix Platform -- "Networks". A Network is somewhat analogous to the Facebook concept of a Network, that is, it's something that you join to identify yourself as belong to something. The key feature of a Network is that it aggregates all posts from all it's members. unlike Facebook, you can join as many networks as you'd like the ideal use of a Network in the BlogMatrix Platform is to represent a team, either as an official organizational unit or something ad-hoc created for a particular purpose or project networks can be created in three different modes: private; that is, only the creator can add accounts to the network. This is useful if you'd like to follow a number of people across an organization. They do not have to consent to membership join with automatic membership. This is pretty obvious. join, but with approval needed. In this mode, you may request to join
