After reading Blork’s book list for 2006 I decided to keep one for 2007. I’ll update this post every time I finish reading a book and republish it. I doubt I’ll get as many books as he does, read in one year but I do consume books one after the other non-stop and read on all sorts of topics, mostly non-fiction. New Template for the Photoblog (again)

At last a TRUE template made for the WordPress blogging engine. It’s called PhotoPress (spiffy name huh?) Well it bloody works great and looks great and is adapted to my already formatted images’ standard width of 640 pixels. I’ve already installed it on my own photoblog Postcards from The End and after 30 seconds I was convinced and it’s staying for now. I’m not to fond of the turquoise and I might change that and make some other little tweaks that are within my scope of knowledge of hacking templates (which ain’t much) but I love it. For once a WordPress template with categories that work properly. Awesome. As you can see I Flip-Flop on templates, but it’s cuz the bugs bug me… I Changed my Photoblog Theme… Again Hmmmm Upgrades. If you remember in my previous article about Cinema Guzzo searching every bag carried into its theaters, I mentioned it was going against article 8 of The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom s and I also mentioned I had emailed Cinema Guzzo about it. Well The COO, Vincenzo Guzzo himself answered back. I guess invoking THE CHARTER got the webmaster’s panties in a bunch and he decided this should be escalated to upper management because I certainly didn’t get a canned or pre-written “Thank you for your interest” type of response. Mr. Guzzo (on the left - on the right, his brother, Angelo Guzzo, President of Cinema Guzzo) and I exchanged a few e-mails and I also tried to get confirmation from Le Journal de Montreal’s Bruno Lapointe who had written an article which cited Mr. Guzzo. Finally, an international affairs show I can relate to. Don’t know who Avi Lewis is? Here’s a quick run down of his pedigree: Documentary filmmaker. How I celebrated La Saint-Jean Baptiste.

I do not celebrate Saint -Jean Baptiste, not anymore anyway. Not since it’s been hijacked by the separatists. The St-Jean is about celebrating our French heritage, our frenchitude in this ocean of Anglos. Because maintaining a culture in such small numbers with an invasive culture such as the one to our south, takes a crap-load of work. But then, especially since the last referendum, the St-Jean has only been about the separatist movement, not about the culture. Seems one can’t be a proud Québécois without being a separatist Québécois. So a guy like me who believes, perhaps in a naïve Trudeauist fashion, that Québec can be a nation, a culture, within and with Canada, simply exists as an anomaly amongst his French brethren. I’m sure there are others like me, but fearing the questions and reprisals, they simply put up the separatist front. “On The Map” Coming back In November.

Well since Tod Maffin of InsideTheCBC won’t post about it, I will. &ldquo ;On The Map with Avi Lewis&rdquo ; has been renewed and will return in November . Woohoo! That’s nothing but good news. It shows that Canadians appreciate balls to the wall confrontational journalism that dares to ask questions that other journalist wont or are afraid to. It shows that the CBC doesn’t just back its slick hip filler MTV spill-over shows like The Hour – which I used to love but then the passion died and I realized it was all about the sex and we had nothing left to talk about. No ass kissing on “On The Map”, instead the guest are so bloody stumped by the brutally educated and fact-checked questions, they are left quivering, looking for the escape hatch. Transformers: The Review

Last Monday I rushed down to the cinema to catch, with all the other freaks and geeks, the premiere of the much anticipated blockbuster bot-lovin geekfest called Transformers . I had been waiting for this puppy for over a year. When I got wind of this movie being under production I went into overdrive. My childhood toys were gonna be brought to life with CGI magic, Michael “bad boys” Bay was behind the camera and The Beard, Steven Spielberg was producing. What could possibly go wrong? Lets go through that list again… Transformers. Toys of my childhood. The freaked me out then and I still think they are the coolest toys out there, never been outdone. I blogged the other day about Cloverfield, J.J. Abrams secret project - of which the last remaining video I could find on YouTube was taken down (updated) and lets hope an official teaser comes up soon - well some new Intel has surfaced. Two websites dedicated to some dude named Ethan Haas have surfaced. This is getting Uber-Fascinating. EthanHaaswasright.com has a puzzle game that seems quite difficult to solve.
