People use them.

I’ve been told that nobody uses Mac’s. Time to get your head out of the gutter. Check out these shots from a university class in Missouri…click to enlarge.

The Light.
2007-10-17 13:56:01
On the way home from the honeymoon from Miami to Jacksonville, a few storms had to be dodged in the air. The flight was a little shaky and the sky wasn’t so clear for a while. We were also on a little prop plane so that didn’t help matters much. At one point in the flight the clouds cleared and the bright shining sun made it’s way to our windows in the air. Everyone in the plane was looking out a window to catch a glimpse of the bright sunlight as it was setting over the horizon. I also think everyone had a bit of relief in seeing light and getting out of the dark clouds. A few weeks ago, I made a trip up to Nashville. Before we even took off from Jax it started storming. We took off and I was a little concerned. Shouldn’t thunder and rain keep a plane on the ground? Have they seen the movie La Bamba? I guess not because we took off. It was smoother because I was on a jet this time, but it was still pretty shaky. After about 30 seconds it went from dark to light

Last night.
2007-11-01 13:26:49
The pumpkins were carved and lit on the front porch. The candy bowl was filled with great tasting goodies and we were ready for the nights festivities of handing out candy. Well, until 9pm came around and we realized we had zero trick-or-treaters. So, I blew out the pumpkins and threw them away. Halloween was then officially over. Kind of sad… …but at least we have an entire bowl of candy to ourselves!

Happy Halloween!

In the true spirit of Halloween , Kara and I rented Halloween Pt. 1 this past weekend as well as The Ring and carved our pumpkins. Pumpkin seeds are good. I’m a sucker for scary movies, even though they end up making me think any bump in the night is somebody with a chainsaw wearing a hockey mask. Now it’s time to read up on on your favorite Halloween scary movies… Friday the 13th Halloween Poltergiest Monster Squad (a classic) Swamp Thing Nightmare on Elm Street Scream Frankenstein (seems like a normal tall guy) Blair Witch Project It’s the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown

Update…I’m a geek.
2007-11-07 21:22:50
A few of my friends have wrote ‘apology’ blogs because they haven’t updated theirs in a few days or weeks - so I’m joining the club. I apologize to all of my 3 readers for not keeping you up-to-date on my life. It’s been a busy week but being married makes life so much fun - you always have that person to talk with, spend time with and to enjoy after working all day. I love my wife - in fact her birthday was this week! I sent her some flowers to where she works and got her a few other things. We had a great time celebrating her birthday by coming home and eating Papa John’s pizza while watching tv - I love being relaxed with her, it’s awesome. Work is going good, busy, but good.  We are currently outgrowing our current database system in the way we use it for our needs - so we’re looking at upsizing to a complete new system that runs on SQL Server. Our database is growing so much (which is a good problem) that what we currently have isn&

Macbook built-in security system.
2007-11-08 07:44:43
Check out this article… Apple has won large contracts for MacBooks in Kansas City and Louisiana. The two contracts are valued at $6.4 million and $5 million respectively It appears Apple has made efforts to provide custom solutions to educators to meet their needs. Kansas City officials describe additional security measures added to the MacBooks, including a way to track lost/stolen MacBooks: This is the good part… All of the laptops have stickers clearly identifying them as the property of the Kansas City, Kan., public schools. The sticker will not come off without virtually destroying the laptop. If thieves find a way around that obstacle, a GPS tracking device will help locate it. If all else fails, district officials said, they could also use a remote device to destroy the hard drive. Sounds like a mission impossible laptop that self-destructs when needed.

Good News.

Got a call this morning from Nissan, and Kara’s car is fixed. It’s weird though, because we’ve heard ‘We got your car fixed’ so many times now that I always wonder…is it really fixed. I guess all we can do is pray and trust that they really fixed it and found the root of the problem. The good thing was, this morning Kara had a meeting at 9am in Brunswick, and I have to be at work at 8:30am on the island. Having 1 car makes that difficult, so her workplace let her borrow the company car for a night so she could attend the meeting the next morning. Here’s the sweet ride she got to drive… It’s a truck, but when your inside it, it feels like your in a car.

Catch Up.
2007-11-19 10:01:30
It’s been a while since I’ve posted again, so it’s time to catch up on things. Not too much has happened in the past week or so, but a few interesting things have occurred. Last Sunday my good friend Jason celebrated his birthday. For his birthday present, his wife Beth who works for GulfStream, decided to hire a pilot to fly him down to Saint Simons Island. He’s never flown before, flying from Savannah to St. Simons in a little Cessna was about as real as it gets. I met them at the airport and we went out and ate some lunch and then they flew off back to Savannah. I was able to walk where all the planes park and look inside the Cessna…talk about a tight fit. I was also surprised at how I could just walk out to where the planes were without anybody asking me for ID or paperwork. Here’s a pic of their plane taking off back to Savannah… Kara’s parents came down for a week as well. They also brought their dog ‘Packer.’ It was

Tis the season for lights!

Yesterday Kara and I worked long and hard getting all of our lights up. We had a problem with only a strand of garland not lighting and tape not sticking. Not too bad for the first time ever.

Motivated.
2007-12-06 09:40:35
Last night Kara and I got home after I taught a drum lesson. It was around 7pm when we walked in the door - 11 hours before, we were hopping in my car for work - makes for a long day away from home. We got settled in and ate some soup for dinner. It was good. We wanted to decorate the Christmas tree right after we ate, but we kept finding things on tv to watch. “Ready to decorate the tree?” “Sure, well, let’s sit here a few more minutes.” “Ok.” “Ready now?” “Just a few more.” “Ok.” The last thing I remember is ‘The Grinch’ (cartoon) was on tv and we were watching that. When I opened my eyes we were watching something totally different. Whoops, we fell asleep. We did get the tree about half decorated and are looking forward to getting the rest up before the end of the week. I’ll put some pics up once I get them and the tree is complete.

New Hampshire.
2007-12-21 09:39:33
Well, I got back from New Hampshire last night in what seemed like a whirlwind of a trip. As much time as you think you have between flights, you really don’t have that much time to sit and relax at all. I went up there to get trained on some new software we are getting for the conference. The town was neat - quaint, small, looked like a Christmas postcard at night with Christmas lights hanging everywhere. All of the shops were locally owned in old brick buildings so it made it feel welcoming. I stayed at a Bed & Breakfast and it was pretty neat. My room looked like a log cabin and even had a gas fireplace to keep it toasty at night. Oh yeah, and their was snow, lots and lots of snow… Tonight we are heading out to Atlanta then Saturday we are driving to Illinois. I’ve been in a lot of states over the past few days. If you are ever offered a layover in Cincinnati - don’t do it. You have to take a 20 min bus ride to the other side of the airport (depending on

New iPhone Case.
2008-03-07 09:34:21
I liked my first iPhone case - but it started to stretch and it was a pain to take out the phone to see who was calling or to see who just sent me a txt. Having a wide-open end also made it just a matter of time before it fell out and broke. A friend [...]

To all my iPhone friends who have WordPress (and thanks to Mark), here’s a cool little app that allows you to email photos from your iPhone to Wordpress, TypePad, Facebook and many others. Yard Update.
2008-03-04 09:39:26
