New Site. 2007-06-29 14:44:12 Well, the iPhone launches today. I’ve got to talk about it being the macHead that I am.
First of all, from what I can see, it rocks.
Honestly, the more I thought about it, the more I thought, ‘A lot of phones have touch screens already, what’s the big deal?’ Well, it’s not really the touchscreen that makes it cool (though the touchscreen gives it a cool factor), but it’s more of the software. It’s basically a watered down version of the Mac operating system, but it’s not really watered down…at all and it’s made for a cell phone, and an iPod, and a web browser. Now the Mac OS already kicks as it is, and having it on my phone would be like having a little mini-mac in my pocket all day, what could be better?
Now to the graphics. The graphics on this thing are awesome. Just like the full Mac OS, they use the glossy, glassy looking icons and the transistions between screens and menus is seamless. I had a razr (and I do now again) Read more:New Site
Drumming Ideas. 2007-07-05 12:31:30 Now I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody who claimed to know it all in life. I certainly do not - and I think I would laugh at somebody if they thought they did. This summer I’m playing drums each Sunday night for a ministry called The Gathering Place. It’s pretty neat, crowded, hot, sweaty, and lots of good nod-your-head type worship. Each week we play different songs by different worship groups so I’ve had to listen and learn a lot about different drumming styles, rhythms, accents, and so on. This week we are playing with Third Day’s very own Mac Powell with a new set of worship songs from last week, namely Third Day songs. The other day I came across a blog of a drummer for a very big church in Atlanta. He designed the blog to talk about drumming and worship - just what i was looking for. I feel that everyone can learn from others - yes God can teach you - but sometimes, if not most of the time, God can teach you from other people speaking throu Read more:Drumming
4th of July. 2007-07-05 12:05:24 This 4th of July was a lot different than last year - and for many good reasons. A year ago on July 4th, I was in Nashville visiting Kara and had to fly back that night. I remember on the flight back to Jacksonville I could see all the fireworks going off in the night sky below me. I didn’t like leaving her to fly back home, I never did, especially on a holiday that’s supposed to be happy and spent with the one’s you love. Talk about being emotional - sad for leaving, happy for getting to see her again in ? how many weeks, upset for not knowing what the future would hold. Well, this year I met up with Kara at her place and we had a wedding invitation stuffing party all the day long. She addressed envelopes, I stuffed, stamped, and sealed them to mail out. Quite the 180 degree mood from a year ago and very well received. We got so many done and are sending the first batch out this afternoon. It’s great to see something tangible taking shape in getting ready for
Thank you Mac Powell. 2007-07-09 09:18:24 What a great night of worship and what a great talk by David Nassar. Here’s to next year…

We Have Onoin Rings. 2007-07-07 23:21:56 Yes, those were the words (spelled incorrectly) posted on the Huddle House sign in Jeffersonville, GA which happened to also be attached to the BP Station where I got gas in my car. I was in Macon this weekend at a wedding for my good college buddy Barry Giddens. I used to work with Barry (and lived with him for 3 months one summer) and now he is the Associate Pastor at Vineville UMC in Macon. The wedding was great, seeing the GSU crew and spending time with them was even better. It’s not very often that 4-5 guys who are all 27-30 years old who went to school together get to meet up for a few days and just hang out. Most of us are married, engaged, living out of state, are in seminary, and have jobs too. So it’s always a treat to see the guys and to catch up. It’s funny that the only time we see each other now is at each other’s weddings - and by the time we’re done catching up over 2 days it’s time to go our ways again.
Barry congratulations on you Read more:Rings
Less than a month…less than two months. 2007-07-17 08:42:49 In less than a month Kara and I will be homeowners. It’ll be sort of weird because only one of us will be living in the house until after September 15th. I got an email yesterday from the builder stating that he’d like us to do a walk-through on August 9th and then close on the house August 16th! We’re pretty excited! We’ve been waiting for this day since mid-March and have kept a constant eye on the progress of the house being built. It’s amazing that the time is closing in - I’m ready to move in! I’m supposed to be out of my apartment on the 31st of August, so this gives me 2 full weeks to move out and move in. I really don’t have much to move at all which is a good thing.
In less than two months Kara and I will be married! I feel like time has gone pretty slow up until this past weekend. Now time is flying by - which is a great thing for me. Seven months is a long time to be engaged - I’m not sure how people are engaged for much Read more:hellip
Cellphone Companies…Schmellphone Companies. 2007-07-20 10:36:29 Being that Kara and I are getting married in September, we decided to look into getting a family plan together at least until March when my plan ends. All I wanted to do was add a line. I’m on Verizon, she’s on Verizon&hellip
;bring her line over to me and let’s save some dough each month in 1 cell bill.
Not so much.
‘You will have to renew your contract with us for 2 years.’
They really know how to lock you in don’t they? All I wanted was to add a line and I have to renew my contract for 2 years on top of my contract now that doesn’t end until March…that’s a little crazy. But, they don’t want to lose your business (or monthly check in the mail).
We walked out with no new contracts.
Speaking of cellphones, I was able to tinker around with an iPhone this week at work for a few hours. A clergy-person has one and knows that I’m a Mac-Geek and let me use it for a few hours. I didn’t make any calls of course, though I d Read more:Companies
Brunswick just got a little cooler. 2007-07-25 10:22:59 Brunswick just got a little
more cooler
.
We now have a Target! It was amazing to leave a store of that size and actually leave feeling happy. No rude workers and their were more than 3 lanes open. They even were handing out cake to the customers for the grand opening. I’m looking forward to some happy shopping and saving some money on gas from not having to drive to Jax to visit a Target store.

GP. 2007-07-30 08:28:30 My time playing at the GP this summer has ended. Last night was the last night of the ‘Main Event’ (even though they never call the last night the ‘Main Event’). Anyway, basically it’s a night of worship and scripture is read at certain points in the night. It opened with a huge youth choir opening with a song. After that we took stage and everything just seemed to fall into place. It was probably the best night of worship yet this summer. It’s weird that it’s all over - it seems like it flew by. It was great fun to play there. Usually I have to ‘hold back’ when I play, but not so much on Sunday nights. It’s my chance to really let loose and get in my element. Beforehand, we realized that it was probably the last night we would all play together as a band. It was sort of a downer, but then we realized that more than half the band already plays at the same church.
One thing’s for sure, I am ready to have Sunday afternoons
Finally! 2007-07-31 22:14:29 I’ve been waiting around for this for a while now, actually for about 2 years. Obviously, I’m a Mac user working in a PC office. In order for me to do any work, I have to be on a PC to log into our server. I’ve been looking for a way to connect with my Mac. Apple has come out with the Intel Mac’s that allow the user to run both Mac OS X and Windows on the same machine. I thought I had my answer, but wasn’t going to drop the money for a new computer. Then randomly tonight I see a link where Microsoft introduced software that I use everyday at work for Mac’s now. I just downloaded it and now I can use my Mac for work for when I travel. No more carrying around 1 laptop for work, and 1 for personal use.
Thank you…ummmm…Microsoft.

Pictures. 2007-08-06 08:13:16 Kara and I got our engagement pictures taken on Saturday. The couple who took them were really cool and just moved to Savannah from Hawaii. Here’s a link to their site…
Alluring Grace Photography
We were worried all week that it would rain on Saturday, but just as we were driving to the get them taken we noticed the sky was blue again and hardly any clouds. We got them taken at Epworth and East Beach on the rocks and by the pier. It was sort of funny doing these poses with people walking by looking at us. I’m looking forward to getting them back, I’ll post some on here once we do.

Wedding Party! 2007-08-09 12:27:17 All of our great friends down here threw Kara and I an engagement/wedding party. It was awesome and we even got a cactus out of it with marital advice pinned to it. Thanks to everyone who put it together, we had a blast!

Moving in. 2007-08-21 14:50:37 Since I worked over the weekend in Warner Robins, I decided to take Monday off to catch my breath a little. Plus, it was a great chance just to get things caught up and finished with the house. Their were a lot of little details that needed to be finished and that means that someone had to let the workers in all day so they could be fixed. So, yesterday I basically hung out at the house all day with no furniture, but only a radio and some workers which included a painter, a plumber, a caulker, a landscape(ist), Blair the Driggers guy, and some shrubs that I watered. Oh yeah, I also swept the garage, front porch, walkway and back patio. The day seemed to go by fast. As soon as one worker would leave and I began to get bored another would appear in the driveway. I was impressed with how nice everyone was too, they even took off their shoes before coming inside. Last night I moved my dresser then Kara and I moved my desk/chair, drums, vacuum, and a few other things. Hopefully tonight an Read more:Moving
First Night. 2007-08-23 12:32:21 Last night was my first night in the new house. I’m used to my one bedroom apartment with 1 door and just a couple of windows. Going to bed I realized their were a lot of windows and a lot of doors to check to make sure they were locked. It sort of creeped me out thinking that the entire other side of the house was open for anyone to peek in as well as each bedroom (we haven’t got window treatments yet). A few noises in the night woke me up, but other than that I did sleep well and it was super quiet all night. I’m looking forward to getting the rest of the furniture into the house and getting settled. Hopefully by Friday night my apartment will be cleared out completely and cleaned out by Sunday night.

iPhone. 2007-09-10 21:08:55 Yup I got one for a wedding gift. Cool thing was that the kind person who got it for me only paid $99 for it and its not a refurb. Im having fun learning it and love having email/net in my pocket for the same price as my verizon plan. I’m pretty sure that Kara likes it too-her eyes get big whenever I use it.

Holy Cow. 2007-09-07 22:27:40 Looks like in a few days (Monday) I’ll be able to update this blog, check my email, and surf the web from anywhere….
A Week. 2007-09-07 22:22:51 Holy cow, in a week from right now I’ll be finishing up seeing friends old and new, getting ready for bed, and getting married the next afternoon! I’m getting married in a week! It’s here and I’m ready - at least I think I’m ready. I’m ready to be Kara’s husband and I’m ready for the time to come where we don’t have to leave each other every night to go home. I’m ready to love her and cherish her for the rest of my life. I just want to say ‘Thank-You’ for all the family and friends who have helped out with planning and helped get things organized and ready for the ‘big day’ - we could not have done it without you.
We also got our new refrigerator this afternoon - and yes it’s ‘running’.
Moving. 2007-09-05 08:46:22 I’ve been in the house now for about a two weeks now. I’m getting used to it. It’s really no different than living in my apartment since I’m really only there at night to sleep. Kara and I have been packing her stuff and moving it into the house. We have boxes everywhere, but we’re glad to get her stuff moved in. The next few days we’ll spend cleaning up her apartment and getting the final few things moved out. It almost seems like an in-town move is almost harder than an out-of-town move. I guess with an out-of-town move, you get a uHaul (or Penske, whichever you prefer…orange or yellow), and load it up until it’s maxed out and take off. Then you unpack all at once and you’re moved. In an in-town move, with two people moving out of 2 places, you load up your car, drive back and forth several times, and unpack each time. It’s hard to see the stuff you have get smaller this way as you move out - and unpacking/packing over and Read more:Moving
Vid. 2007-09-04 12:27:35 For many reasons Apple and the Beatles haven’t been on agreement with putting their songs on iTunes. I’m not a Beatles fan so it really doesn’t bother me and I’m not sure what all the commotion is about. But, I saw this video and thought I’d share it…
Thank You. 2007-09-28 10:41:58 I just wanted to make a quick note to everyone who came out to the wedding. Thank
you for your support, encouragement, blessings, laughter, gifts, and love. It all sort of seems like a big blur, most likely because my vision was blurred from crying so much. It was a beautiful day, exactly how we wanted it to be. We’re still waiting on getting the wedding photographs back from the photographers, but here are a few scenic shots from Antigua - I’m pretty sure my brain is still there.
Clear waters.
Yum. 2007-09-27 13:11:48 One of my favorite holidays is coming up soon. The stores already have the shelves stocked with candy too and it’ s not even October yet. I’m not sure why it’s one of my favorite ‘days’, or should I say ‘night’? It may be that I get to eat these that I really enjoy only once a year…
Or it may be that you can dress up in a costume and act silly and decorate your front porch and such with fake spider webs.
Love is in the air. 2007-09-27 10:31:27 Lovebugs that is…and all over my car and windshield.
Recent News. 2007-10-08 16:01:59 I found myself filling out a Georgia Southern University Alumni card yesterday afternoon. It basically keeps the alumni association in touch with you and at the same time you provide them details of your degree, if you’ve gotten married, where you work, and of course all the phone numbers you can be located at so they can ask you for money. The last question was ‘Tell us any recent or interesting news that’s happened to you lately:’ GSU releases a publication every quarter that has an alumni update section with news of people moving, getting married, having kids, etc. The past few weeks have been amazing, awesome, fun, stressful and back to awesome. Here is what I wanted to write:
Dear GSU,
As of late a lot has been going on in my life. I got married on September 15th to the most beautiful woman on the planet. I love her with all my heart and I cried my eyes out at the wedding because she looked so gorgeous and precious. After that we went to the Ritz-Carlton on Read more:Recent
