So much for that Kelly Holcumb trade.A new Holcumb destination rumor has surfaced. Pat Kirwan says Atlanta might be interested. Mike McMahon can't even cut it in the CFL. Frozen Tears 2007-07-25 00:41:00 Another great video. This one always gets me hype for some football. I laugh when it shows the the four receivers we had that game. Enjoy. Read more:Frozen

One line solid, but the other is dotted 2007-07-24 08:55:00 In 2006, the Eagles' two lines of trench warriors could not have contrasted more. Where the offensive line was a model of consistency and cohesion by both design and circumstance, the defensive line trafficked in chaos and got more than it bargained for. The training camp that begins when rookies and selected veterans report to Lehigh University on Friday will be a direct reflection of that dichotomy. Barring injuries, the next few weeks should be straightforward for the offensive line, where the starting five played every single game last year. Right tackle Jon Runyan and left tackle William Thomas have lined up together more than 100 times now, both have made Pro Bowls and neither showed a significant dropoff in ability in 2006...Read more at CourierPostOnline>>
Eagles will soar again 2007-07-23 18:19:00 This is Donovan McNabb's training camp. How much is he ready to do? Then it will be Donovan McNabb's season. Can he still win?The Eagles remain McNabb's team until further notice. They got to the playoffs without him last year, resurrecting Jeff Garcia's career. Coach Andy Reid said the experience was good for them because others had to step up in McNabb's absence. But if the Eagles are to challenge again in the NFC, it will be up to McNabb and his rehabilitation from a torn ACL in his right knee. If his ego also is bruised after two injury-plagued years, the Eagles really don't have much of a chance. A.J. Feeley is a popular backup and Reid made Kevin Kolb a surprise second-round draft pick. The Eagles are otherwise Super Bowl-ready. They didn't need to make many roster adjustments after winning the NFC East for the fifth time in six years. They finished the season as the second-ranked offense in yardage, behind only New Orleans, the team that ended their playoff run. With Garcia
McNabb 'At 75%' 2007-07-28 13:18:00 Donovan McNabb
emerged from the locker room with an air of ease Saturday morning before the inaugural practice of the 2007 training camp. The quarterback played to the infantry line of cameras assembled to film his entrance, joked with any and all around him and, most of all, McNabb smiled. But recovering quarterback was slightly more serious after practice, speaking to the media about the health of his knee and his future in Philadelphia.McNabb revealed that while he would have no way of knowing exactly what percentage of health his knee is at until his first game action, he speculated that he was "probably still at 75 percent."But with that diagnosis, the franchise quarterback also included a disclaimer."At 75 percent, I personally feel I can be one of best quarterbacks in this league," McNabb said.Yet McNabb sounded both parts confident and cautious during his address. McNabb's overriding theme with regards to his recovery was patience...Read more at PhiladelphiaEagles.com>>
Donovan has a blog 2007-07-26 05:18:00 Eagles QB Donovan
McNabb just started his own blog on Yardbarker. I think that's awesome, since he is one of my favorite athletes, and I would love to hear some of the things he has to say. Here is a video he posted of his annual Arizona trip. He looks great in it too. I think it's safe to say that he is fully recovered from the knee injury.
Training Camp is here! 2007-07-26 05:09:00 The wait is over! Today is the official start of the 2007 season. For me it is anyways. Today the pads go on, fans head to Lehigh, and people get to check out how the team looks. There are jobs to fight for, players with things to prove, and rookies trying to survive. I can feel the excitement in the air. If you can't make the trip, you can always catch Training

Cowgirls Invasion 2007-07-30 19:16:00 Eagles fans are everywhere! I mean everywhere, even at the Dallas Cowboys training camp, giving the players hell. Unwanted Pests: Cowboys fans attending practice at the Alamodome have had plenty of opportunities to cheer, but Sunday they got their chance to boo, as a flock of Eagles fans infiltrated the workout. The brazen fans, bedecked in Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb jerseys, loudly spelled Philadelphia's trademark E-A-G-L-E-S chant, causing many of the Cowboys fans to respond with chants of their own."That's suicide, I think," Bradie James said. "It just shows how wild it's been out here. We've got 8,000-10,000 fans out here and some Eagles fans show up - this has been great. Very electric." [DallasCowboys.com]Way to represent! Eagles fans are taking over the world. "America's Team" is not even safe anymore. Read more:Invasion
Bills send Walker to Chicago 2007-07-29 20:08:00 The contract situation between the Buffalo Bills
and Darwin Walker
is no longer an issue. ESPN’s John Clayton reports that the team sent Walker to Chicago
for a fifth-round draft pick.If Walker had not reached a new contract with Buffalo by August 5, he would have returned to Philadelphia for a sixth-round pick, so the return is lightly better. So overall from the Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb trade, Buffalo has a fifth-round and seventh-round draft pick.Walker wanted a new contract and Marv Levy wasn’t going to give him one without playing a down in Buffalo.Perhaps the emerging play of John McCargo in camp made Walker tradable.[Circling the Wagons]I was hoping that the Eagles would get a chance to make this trade, but at least they did not have to take a cap hit, and loose a 6th round pick. The Bears are a good fit for Darwin, and I bet he does well there.
Around the NFL 2007-07-28 16:57:00 Darwin Walker update: Bills make final offer. As if his knee injuries, and the widespread staph infection outbreaks were not enough for LeCharles Bentley to deal with in Cleveland, now he has a waterfall of crap in the locker room. Poor LeCharles.Michael Strahan is AWOL at Giants camp. Is he planning to hang it up?Mike Vick gets sacked again. Reebok pulls his jersey off the shelves.Simeon Rice is pretty pissed about being cut. He might be near the end, but I know Tra Thomas is sick of trying to block him.The bizarre tale of Corey Simon continues. Now he is cleared to play, and reporting to Colts camp. What a strange situation. The Rams gave Marc Bulger a $65 million contract extension. He is a very underrated player, and now a very rich man.The Carolina Panthers have suspended ex-Eagle offensive tackle Jeremy Bridges, after being arrested for assault.Curtis Martin retired. He had a great, most likely Hall of Fame career.Pacman told to stay home. Odell Thurman denied reinstatement. I love
Hunt taking snaps with second team 2007-08-01 13:32:00 When it comes to the starting running back position for the Eagles, there's no debate. Brian Westbrook has the position locked down. It's after Westbrook where things get interesting. There's Correll Buckhalter, the seven-year veteran who was No. 2 on the depth chart last year and No. 2 coming into training camp. There's Tony Hunt, the third-round pick out of Penn State, and there's Ryan Moats, who is entering his third year in the Eagles' system.Although Buckhalter and Moats have the experience, Hunt was drafted for a reason: he's a bigger back who can compete for the second and third running back spots..Read more at DelawareOnline.com>>
Darwin got Paid 2007-08-01 09:30:00 Five years 25 Million! Wow that seems like a lot for him. Walker is a good pass rusher, especially thriving against weaker offensive lines, but can struggle against premiere guards. Darwin
has always been a huge liability against the run, and I think that is why he is better suited to be a situational pass rusher, and not a starter.Knowing the Eagles luck, he will have three sacks when they play the Bears.I wonder what Marv Levy thinks about this.
Donovan on Eagles Cam 2007-08-01 05:28:00 Click the picture above to view videoDMac is still having fun with the media. Sporting a new bald look, Donovan
was his usual light, goofy self in this interview with Rich Eisin on NFL Network's Total Access. McNabb touched on a bunch of topics, including his health, his workouts in Arizona, the teams wide receivers, and his new blog.
Corey Simon Cut Loose 2007-08-04 18:12:00 The Indianapolis Colts released former Pro Bowl defensive tackle CoreySimon
on Saturday.Colts owner Jim Irsay said Wednesday that he expected to release the tackle within the next few days.Simon did not pass his physical last weekend. He was expected to report to camp on time July 29 but was never seen at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.Simon did not play last year during the Colts' Super Bowl-winning season and was eventually placed on the non-football illness/injury list with an undisclosed ailment. [Sporting News]It's a shame that Corey literally ate his way out of the NFL. He was a force at one point in his career. I would be very surprised if anybody were to sign him. Actually I take that back. The NFL seems to give everybody another shot, no matter how done they are. Read more:Loose
Ready to Catch Fire 2007-08-04 03:19:00 When Reggie Brown was a rookie, he answered questions about playing with Terrell Owens. When Brown entered his second training camp, the questions were about playing without Owens. Now in his third season, Brown is facing another T.O. question: Whether he can become the only Eagles receiver besides Owens to surpass the 1,000-yard benchmark in the Andy Reid era.If there was ever a candidate and ever a time, it is Brown this season. The NFL has a noticeable trend of receivers taking three years to develop into 1,000-yard players. Forty-seven active NFL receivers have registered 1,000-yard seasons; 12 of those receivers, or 25.5 percent, recorded their first 1,000-yard season in their third year in the NFL. The next highest is a players' fourth year, when nine players reached the mark for the first time."You have two years to learn the system, two years to get acclimated to the speed of the game," Brown said. "[The third year] is one of the years that people who have been taught this stuff Read more:Catch
Max Jean-Rocky 2007-08-04 03:10:00 Surely, just a few more fights and Max Jean-Gilles will have a WBA ranking.Jean-Gilles, the Eagles' massive second-year guard, engaged in a spirited tussle with second-year defensive tackle LaJuan Ramsey during one-on-one line drills yesterday. This was one day after Jean-Gilles rushed to an offensive linemate's aid and wound up taking on Trent Cole amid a tangle of players in what turned into mostly a wrestling match.Yesterday, there was no scrum, Jean-Gilles noted, it was "man-on-man," two large men throwing hands."Jean-Gilles clearly should get the 2 minutes for instigation," opined Channel 29 producer Tom Sredenschek, who might have had the closest view of the Jean-Gilles vs. Ramsey rumble. In truth, as long as no one gets hurt and the bad feelings are left on the field, coaches seem far from opposed to this sort of thing. And Jean-Gilles, who never got on the field as a rookie despite a lot of hard work, certainly knows that.Yesterday he referred to his feistiness as "dawg," whic Read more:Rocky

McNabb: It's Time To 'Seal the Deal' 2007-08-07 00:59:00 Another year, another Super Bowl prediction by Donovan McNabb
.This time, the naysayers might take notice.Last year in training camp, McNabb said the Eagles were contenders capable of reaching the Super Bowl -- even after coming off a 6-10 season. Then, McNabb went down with a knee injury and missed the final six games of last season. But the Birds staged a miraculous turnaround and fell a victory shy of reaching the NFC championship game.Entering his ninth season as Eagles quarterback, McNabb has every reason to be brimming with confidence."Last year, I said we were a Super Bowl team, and everybody kind of laughed about it and didn't understand what I was saying," said McNabb, who sat out Monday as he rested his sore knee. "We were pretty much a couple of plays from the NFC championship again. I guess people think that what I say is right, now. I doubt it, but we'll see how far it goes this year."With McNabb, the Eagles lost three straight NFC title games before breaking through and e
Get Your Vick Chew Toy 2007-08-06 18:12:00 As the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal continues to unfold we find ourselves trying to figure out why a multi-million dollar NFL superstar would put himself in this type of position. That question can not be answered as of yet and may or may not ever be answered. After authorities raided a house owned by Vick on April 25 and found 66 dogs and a pit usually used in dog fights, Vick has finally been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury and will face trial soon. While most of us have turned a blind eye to this underground world of dogfighting, Michael Vick has helped to blow the doors wide open on this problem. There are now more people responding to the horrible situation that many of these animals have been subjected to.Now a new type of retribution has been created to give every dog a little pay-back. The Vick Dog Chew Toy will be available for delivery on August 7th and will hopefully help open the eyes of many others. This has been created to help the Local Shelters shed some light on
McNabb Sits Out With Sore Knee 2007-08-06 17:36:00 Quarterback Donovan McNabb
sat out practice on Monday for the first time in a week. McNabb's surgically-repaired knee was a little sore this morning, so he and the coaching staff erred on the side of caution by letting him sit that practice out. It was the first time McNabb hasn't practiced since last Monday, when he took his regularly-scheduled break during the final rookie and selected veterans practice."Hopefully, we were due for one," McNabb said, laughing. "(I had) a little soreness, and was just being smart. All of us are on the same page, knowing that I've kind of been battling through for about 14 or 15 straight practices."McNabb, who said he has been running drills the same way he would if he didn't have knee surgery, felt a little soreness building up on Sunday so the team decided he wouldn't practice on Monday. He knew the field would be slick from rain on Monday, but that was not a major factor in his decision.Since he had gone a week straight, he doesn't see this sor
Keep Your Eyes On the Ball 2007-08-06 02:45:00 I don't know about Skiing, but in Football you should never have your eyes closed. I know the sun in Lehigh is bright, but saying you lost the ball in the lights during the regular season wont be tolerated from the fans.(Ask Todd Pinkston) I have heard many positive things about Jeremy Bloom being an exciting kick returner, but these pictures frighten me. Maybe he should borrow Brian Dawkins helmet, with the dark visor to block out the sun. Whatever the problem, this has to get fixed, and quick. You can't be Ray Charles fielding punts.
Camp Report: Kevin Curtis 2007-08-06 01:08:00 Kevin Curtis
and Donovan McNabb are starting to get in sync as they work day in day out at the Eagles trraining camp. Curtis made a number of outstanding and acrobatic plays during some of the Sunday drills. It's kind of ironic that Curtis is having a great day at Lehigh while the guy he replaced Donte Stallworth, is now on the New England Patriots Physically Unable to Perform List. I don't know the details of why Stallworth is out of action but I've heard it's the same hamstring problem which followed him from New Orleans to Philadelphia and now onto New England.Curtis is starting to shine with his speed, quick feet and sure hands. He made a catch today in the end zone during a live red zone play which was nothing short of amazing. It's starting to become a regular thing that Curtis makes an unbelievable catch in every practice.Later in the practice Curtis took off on a deep post route with Eagles starting cornerback Sheldon Brown in hot pursuit. Curtis pulled away from Brown and Read more:Kevin
"Bubble Boys" 2007-08-05 20:06:00 Jerome McDougle, DE -- The Eagles traded up to select the former University of Miami standout with the 15th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft, but his pro career seemed doomed from the start. McDougle skipped out on the first week of training camp to get a six-year contract from the Eagles that included $6.122 million in bonuses. McDougle suffered injuries to his ankle, knee and hip in the final preseason game of his rookie year against the Jets at Lincoln Financial Field and missed the first eight games. In 2004, McDougle first was put on the shelf with an irregular heartbeat, then lost four games to a sprained knee. He missed all of 2005 after being shot in the abdomen during a robbery attempt near his home in Miami on the eve of training camp. He saw his most action last season, but over a most forgettable four-year career in which he has never started a game, McDougle has just 23 solo tackles and three sacks. The Eagles likely will begin the season with 10 defensive linemen.McDougl Read more:Bubble
Eagles Brand Number One 2007-08-05 19:57:00 In the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles take the top spot with a 113% gain in brand value, to $90 million. Bad-boy receiver Terrell Owens was shipped out to the Dallas Cowboys before last season, allowing the fans and media to focus on quarterback and team leader Donovan McNabb, one of the league's best people and images. This was a smart business move by Eagles owner Jeff Lurie, because McNabb will continue to get the City of Brotherly Love plenty of positive media attention and help the team sell lots of merchandise. Meanwhile, Owens has been nothing short of an embarrassment to the Cowboys, and his selfish antics factored into the departure of future Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells after last season. The team is now worth $1 billion, fifth in the NFL. [Forbes.com] Read more:Brand

PFT is a Joke 2007-08-10 00:13:00 PFT is officially a joke. Not that anybody ever took that lame rumor site serious before, but now they show that they don't even know football. In their latest Fantasy RB Rankings, they somehow have star RB Brian Westbrook ranked 21st. Here is what the idiots wrote:21. Brian Westbrook, Eagles: We have a feeling that the decline will start this yearWhat is "the decline" exactly? Westbrook had a career year last year. I showed this on ITI just a few posts ago:Westbrook, who turns 28 next month, is coming off his best season. He surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the first time, finishing at 1,217. His average of 5.1 yards per carry was a franchise-record and he ran for seven touchdowns. Westbrook also had a career-high 77 catches for 699 yards and four TDs. No other back averaged more yards per touch (6.0) or per catch (9.1) last year.Lets see he is 28 years old, 1,916 total yards, 11 TDs, and runs behind a great offensive line. I am not sure what they are "feeling", but I know anybody w
