But my brain never quite let me stop at that...and the vintage fabric, it beckons, you know.First up is Big Jim Chickenpants A rootin, tootin, barrel chested chicken. 6.5" high,4" wideBroad at the shoulders and narrow at the hips.And everybody knows you don't give no lipto Big Jim Chickenpants.He sports a paw print ribbon belt with a "Western" button belt buckle. He's made from fuzzy fleece, non allergenic polyfill, vintage stretchy plaid fabric, a couplea beads, little bit of ribbon, and a button. All the Chickenpants plushies are my original creations. Chickenpants the Argyle 2007-10-26 10:51:00 Chickenpants the Argyle hails from the place where everything is argyle. He's moved away from his hometown since then (all the argyle- it was just TOO MUCH!), but he likes to remember his roots. Hence the argyle belt. He's keeping it real, yo. For-shizzle?His belt buckle button, by the way reads: "CHOO CHOO". I don't know why. It's not like he has more than a passing interest in trains...Maybe he just thought it looked cool. Chickenpants the Argyle is made from vintage stretchy plaid material which I am very quickly running out of. His chickenpart (er...) is made from very soft & fuzzy fleece. He's stuffed with non-allergenic polyfill, and he's got beads for eyes. Minicomic love 2007-11-01 22:44:00 I just received this wonderful mini-comic by Laura Park in the mail. I'm not sure how to write this post without it just coming across as a sales pitch. And special apologies for the crummy photographs. I am not feeling well, and this is as together as it is going to get for the time being. Seriously though, you should buy a copy. It's really fantastic. You can't really tell, but the hand lettered envelope is amazing. Best penmanship ever! Plus, she put in a handwritten thank you note. I'm quite a sucker for little details like this.The comic itself is packed solidly with all kinds of beautiful little vignettes. The drawings are adorable, and the short short stories are lovely. I'm not sure if my favorite part is the illustrated onigiri recipe or the tiny illustration of a little girl making eucalyptus bark masks. Hard to Get... 2007-11-20 13:33:00 I had no idea that Nintendo Wiis were still so impossible to find! In the past few days we've gone to approximately one billion different stores and websites, looking, asking, being disappointed. It looks like everyone will be holding on to their stock until Friday, when all hell will break loose. Ughhh...I really don't want to go and deal with any of that stuff. I detest crowds, and standing in lines to buy luxury goods- it gives you that nasty 20 minutes to think, wait, what am I doing here? In other news, I've finally turned my attention back to this little softie. He was entered into the first Softie awards, and he's one of the first plushies I ever uploaded to my site. I had been clinging onto him, letting him waste away on a back shelf, waiting for a plush show in particular. I finally realized that it doesn't have to be that way and hanging out on dark shelves all by yourself is just so wrong! So now he's mingling with the other softies, no longer segregated. I like being able to dive in and start working without having to think something up first. I always think up more to work on once I get started working, so you see how this works. The Wips above are a couple of Aranzai Aronzo softies for my nieces. They saw them on the cover of CRAFT last time they visited and seemed to like them very much. I highly doubt they'll remember them, but hopefully they'll like them. Underneath is a pile of Poppets, yet to be popped full of polyfill. Those are the Wips, now on to the Finks:Finks is the sort of creature who inhabits a woodland glade populated by talking squirrels and unicorns. Lumps of Mystery 2007-12-04 11:26:00 Time for another freak-out visit to the vet! Topanga has developed some sort of hard lump in her right hip. It's utterly confounded the vet. "It's not like a regular tumor- those don't usually hurt." Ergh. I'm trying to not freak out too much, but that is hard. "IT IS PROBABLY NOTHING." That is what the rational part of my brain is saying, very loudly. Loudly doesn't mean authoritatively, though. Some thrilling life I lead, huh? Er, what I meant to say was: after my day job of super top secret espionage, writing, painting, and sewing, I went hunting for some elves. I caught a pixie instead, and what a headache that was!
