So many places to be… so little time.
2008-04-24 22:51:41
So, I announced a while ago that I was building a Social Networking Strategy.  Well, part of that strategy is integrating all of the various networks so that consumers can follow me from one to another.  If they find me on Twitter, I want them to know about my blog.  If they find me on [...]

2008-04-26 10:09:20
That is a question that every seller asks when their home isn’t sold.  And it is a very valid question. Let’s look at a few things: The number of buyers that begin their search on the internet is approaching 90% Does your home have an exceptional internet presence?  Sure, it is on the MLS, and that means that [...]

This makes me angry… Very angry…
2008-04-29 23:35:31
Tom Royce over at The Real Estate Bloggers posted about this today. And it angers me. The thing to remember is that I grew up in a military area. Many of my friends from the sixth to twelfth grade were military. The kids were picked up and moved from place to [...]

Biggest no brainer in the history of Earth
2008-05-01 21:08:18
If you are in the Atlanta area… or even if you aren’t… you’ve probably heard the commercials.  His tagline is “It’s the biggest no-brainer in the history of Earth .”  Usually he starts with some obvious pronouncements… and then he launches into something else. But a recurring theme is “… no closing costs.  We don’t roll them [...]

What would my agent do?
2008-04-30 21:05:44
A month or so ago, I posed a question on ActiveRain. It was interesting, and another post I recently ran across brought it back up in my mind. If you have a real estate license, would you still hire an agent to sell your home? It is an interesting question to ask real estate agents for [...]

30 car garage? ppffftt!
2008-05-02 00:38:48
To paraphrase a cereal commercial… That’s nut ‘n honey. The bar now stands at 150 cars… Maybe 175. And yes, that is the part that made me call out to my wife and pause the TV… “Hey honey… this place has a 150-175 car garage… guess how much it is?” $2,000,000,000… that is not [...]

Sunday’s BMW Short Films
2008-05-04 12:58:54
I don’t know if you remember these from a few years ago, but BMW sponsored a series of short films, featuring their cars, and directed by Hollywood’s heavy hitters. The first feature today, The Hire - Hostage, was directed by John Woo. This was one of my favorites, along with “Star” which had Madonna and was directed [...]

That’s right.  I have the new market report, and all of the new content for the May issue of GarageHomesUSA on the site.  Wander over and take a look. I guess it is also a good time to say that I will be putting together the May issue of the GarageHomesUSA/LaneBailey newsletter.  It should go out [...]

March/April Gwinnett Market Report posted…
2008-05-05 23:56:34
… on GarageHomesUSA.  Wander over and take a look.  Here is a direct link to the report. I was hoping that we would be seeing stronger indicators of the housing recovery at this point… we’ll have to wait for the final April numbers. Wander over and take a look at the report.

2008-05-07 23:04:42

Don’t make me call you…
2008-05-08 23:23:33
I hate cold calling. I’m not likely to do it. The world is in a much better way when you call me. I hate GETTING the calls. I bet you do, too. If you are a seller and your listing expires… you know EXACTLY what I mean. A hundred agents calling [...]

2008-05-11 17:11:07
Saturday, May 10th was the GBR 4WD Club’s annual Mud 4 Blood event in conjunction with LifeSouth and other Atlanta area 4WD clubs. We had a great event this year, and here are a couple of video clips from the event. This first clip is the Georgia Rock Rods setting up one of their several parking set-ups. [...]

… but I can.
2008-05-13 10:59:13
This is Part II (kind of) of Don’t make me call you… ok, I admit it is just because the titles work well together… Don’t make me call you… but I can.  Anyway, here is the actual content. If you list your home for sale, and it expires without selling or is withdrawn, you have consented to [...]

From the mailbag… Part VIII
2008-05-12 23:02:04
Another in the continuing saga of questions I get asked… Lane, we want to sell our house, but we don’t want to give it away. And the companion question: Shouldn’t I pick the agent that wants to list at the highest price? Let me take question two first.  No. Ok, let’s focus on the other question and you’ll see why [...]

Point/Counterpoint
2008-05-14 21:51:53
I heard two interesting points on the news today.  First, the screaming-stay-tuned-after-the-break headline… Foreclosure filings skyrocket 65% And then the less hyped statistic… One home is 500 in some stage of the foreclosure process That means that 0.2% of homes are somewhere in the foreclosure process.  That means that previously it had been 0.12%. Does that sound as ominous?

How many pictures is enough?
2008-05-15 23:15:41
I’m curious, because I’m working on a website for aproperty that may end up with hundreds of photos. Is that too many? If you are interested in a house, how many pictures are too many? Comment, or feel free to email. It is tough.  I want there to be enough pictures to adequately show all of the details of [...]

A couple of gas myths
2008-05-17 21:04:29
I keep seeing so much about the high cost of gas, gas tax schemes and who is to blame.  Well, I need to toss my nickel into the fray and clear up a few things… Let’s take the last one first, Who’s to blame? If you listen to many in front of the media’s cameras, it [...]

Into the mailbag, Part IX
2008-05-16 23:53:17
I wrote a “Member’s Only” post pointed at real estate professionals on ActiveRain that was mostly a rant about one of the many emails I received in regards to email marketing.  In essence, this email said that as a real estate agent, I should be pulling back on my marketing because the market is tough…  [...]

Guy Weekend… Video Sunday
2008-05-18 22:48:31
My wife is at the beach with the kids… So it is a Guy Weekend here at the Lane house. Welding in the garage… I’m going to get some things done with the Jeepster… Some “Guy Movies” … like a Jackie Chan flick. Working. That is after all, why I didn’t go. So, here is a little bit [...]

Facing foreclosure, or worried about it?
2008-05-19 23:23:31
You aren’t going to find many real estate agents that are going to say this… You may need to talk with an agent that specializes in helping people through short sales! And it isn’t me. That’s right.  It isn’t me.  I don’t specialize in foreclosure mitigation or short sales.  It seems to be the “hottest” new specialty [...]

Dihydrogen Monoxide
2008-05-21 23:10:11
A few years ago, Neal Boortz, an Atlanta Radio Talk Show Host and legend (in his own mind if no other) brought to light a something VERY important. He informed the population of Atlanta that the city’s water supply had thousands of tons of a compound called “Dihydrogen Monoxide.” The water supply was simply full [...]

Wondering where I’ve been?
2008-05-20 23:28:13
I’ve been absent for a few days… I know that this post is dated 5/20, but I am actually writing it on 5/22. I’m going to get caught up. I have still been writing… and writing a LOT. I’ve been building a different type of website for a property. And for [...]

3 car garage, home theater, your own English Pub
2008-05-23 23:39:09
I hope you have the opportunity to visit my newest listing.  This is a beautiful and amazing home.  We go way back… The seller actually bought the home from me a few years ago.  It was only a couple years old, and beautiful.  But, he saw more. The unfinished basement was finished… and finished well.  I can’t [...]

Does this mean I’ve been too busy?
2008-05-22 22:28:04
I just logged into FeedDemon for the first time in a few days… I had 1063 unread blog posts…  FeedDemon assumed I was a slacker and offered me the “Panic Button” so that I could unload a bunch of them. Unfortunately, there is a lot that I will need to get through to read the ones [...]

Great Finish…
2008-05-25 21:10:21
Since today is a racing kind of day, I figured that I would post up some great racing videos. The 1982 Indy finish may be one of the most exciting ever… I remember going to the track with my Dad in 1989… during the video playback at the museum, people were cheering for Rick Mears. And [...]
