'Paris in Jail' video a hit !
2007-06-17 02:57:00
Paris Hilton's prison stint has made headlines. But now a Paris parody has gotten its own attention on YouTube - "Paris in Jail: The Music Video" takes Paris' own musical quasi-hit and plays with the words. The parody was made by comedians Allan Murray and Sean Haines and initially appeared on their own website, Omovies.com. "I think we're at almost five-million hits, in eight days. That's pretty good," says Allan Murray, the parody’s co-creator. The real Paris Hilton is serving out her sentence in a Los Angeles county jail for a parole violation related to a drunk-driving incident.

Pratibha Patil Vs Bhairon Singh Shekhawat
2007-06-17 02:24:00
It was a rare occasion when politics ruled over protocol. Unmindful of protocol, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, on Saturday called on UPA's Presidential nominee and Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil at Jodhpur House in New Delhi after Patil had indicated earlier in the day that she would visit the Vice-President to seek his blessings. Shekhawat ,who is going to fight the presidential elections against Patil as an Independent candidate, pulled off a coup of sorts by pre-empting the impending visit by his would-be rival, which many thought could have been a major public relation boost for the UPA candidate. The Vice-President was accompanied by his party colleague and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The meeting between Patil and Shekhawat lasted just about 20 minutes. The Minister of State in PMO, Prithviraj Chauhan, was also present in the meeting. Shekhawat did not speak to the waiting reporters after the meeting. He brushed aside the mikes of the waiting

Maoists as the biggest internal security challenge : PM
2007-06-17 00:40:00
Special ArticlePrime Minister Manmohan Singh has described Maoists as "the biggest internal security challenge." There are high-level coordination committees at the Central and State levels to constantly review and fine-tune counter strategies but left-wing extremism, which has spread across 15 States, now threatens to turn the special economic zones (SEZs) concept into a new conflict ground and potential agenda for its cadres. Inputs with internal security experts suggest that displacement of the local population, especially tribals, has been viewed by the Maoists as "conditions suiting the promotion of their revolutionary ideology." Security forces, particularly the Central Paramilitary Forces, are also aware that the Maoist threat needs to be tackled not only by policing but also from economic and cultural perspectives. The central forces and special forces such as the National Security Guard, endowed with cutting edge of technology and highly-trained manpower, feel the need for a

Party mouthpiece "Saamna" also echoed the same sentiment in its front page story this morning, terming it as "historic" that a Maharashtrian had been considered. Although there is one view in Sena that says the party should support Patil to become
