Choosing a DOCTYPE and Validation 2007-06-18 11:00:56 So that your site can be properly validated for standards - each page on your site requires a document type declaration which begins at the top of every XHTML page and and tells a validator which version of HTML to use in checking the document’s syntax.
The 2 most popular DOCTYPEs i have seen for web designers wanting to accomplish 100% validation is:

Currently all my vBulletin templates are up to date to work with the latest vbullein 3.6.7.
ClanzDarkness 2.1 has been updated to work with phpBB 2.0.22, the style has also been completely recoded and is 100% W3C compliant.
The popular vBulletin template USFTECH is in the progress of being ported to phpBB and should be released in the next few weeks depending on how much free time i get from clients websites.
Im corrently still working on my new vBulletin black template BP-Black and it should be completed shortly.
www.vbulletin-templates.com is the main site for my vBulletin templates which links directly to Bluepearl Design for template downloads. This site will be updated automatically with every vBulletin template release.

mySpace Layout Tutorial 2007-06-21 11:18:32 In the last few months in my spare time i have been playing around a little bit with mySpace templates and i must admit trying to create a clean style is hard. If you think just because you can design Websites from scratch using only CSS this task will be easy then think again, unlike most stylesheets where you can use DIV and ID tags the CSS in mySpace is more CSS hacks for table layouts.
For example:

border:1px solid black;
background-color: black;
}
In this tutorial i am going to attempt to define all the tables using bright colors so we can see exactly how the layout works.
Because i am not sure how this will look myself im not sure how this Tutorial
will end up, maybe helpful maybe not lol.

This is the very first design i ever made for a portal or forum template.
I first designed this style for my clan site in 2004, after a while we then decided to install a forum for the clan to interact better etc so i installed a piece of forum software called phpBB. After a long look at the free templates available and not being able to find a good Gaming template i decided to port our clan theme into a phpBB template.
After a few weeks i was emailed numerous times by web masters interested in using this skin for there own phpBB powered forum so i decided to release the skin for free over at www.phpBB.com and on my own site www.bluepearl-design.com. Since then the template has been downloaded and used on hundreds maybe even a few thousand forums.
I have since released 2 major updates to the skin and also ported it to vBulletin.
Style is now valid XHTML 1.0 transitional!

Shrink Seal Australia 2007-06-19 13:44:24 I first started work on this site in 2004 where i was asked to make a flash website for the clients company.
Due to low search engine ranks caused by creating a website completely in flash, Shrink Seal Australia
recently opted to get the site redesigned using XHTML/CSS.
Since then they are now ranked high in all Major search engines including Google.

NAPA Autoelectric 2007-06-19 13:33:02 This site was requested by a client after i had designed there clan web site.
The color scheme is based on the original AutoCare colors but the layout is completely unique to autoelectric. The site is completely 100% XHTML compliant meaning it will show perfectly in every major browser.
We also have plans to create a community which will be integrated with the site using vBulletin. The community will be a great place for there customers and visitors to ask questions related to cars.

The client requested a simple but not too simple design that would load fast and not be too cluttered with the information.
I used XHTML/CSS for this site with small amount of PHP to call header and footer templates. The choice to use complete CSS without tables was not an option with this site as i ran into alot of height issues which saddens me cause i really wanted a tableless design.

This template was ported to vBulletin from phpBB. Because of its high success with phpBB gaming clans i decided to make a version for vBulletin.
Darkness for vBulletin has had 10 major updates since its release in April 2005, first coded for vB 3.0.7 then vB 3.5.0, 3.6.0 and now 3.6.5.
Most of its popularity i believe is due to its highly customizable header which is also nice and large to show high detailed game graphics.

Fuschia mySpace Template 2007-06-28 14:37:45 After trying to figure out the mySpace CSS completely so i could design and release clean professional looking templates i finally feel like i have accomplished this.
The first template i am going to release is called ‘Fuschia’ which is name of the pink color used in this template.
Ive tested this template on a few different profiles with no problems but if anyone finds any please let me know.

Creating a new phpBB template 2007-07-19 02:38:03 This tutorial will teach you how to create a new template
directory for phpBB
2.
Copy your templates/subSilver/ directory to templates/YourTemplate/ including all subdirectories.
In all .tpl files inside templates/YourTemplate/ replace all instances of “subSilver” with “YourTemplate”. You can do that in any text editor with search/replace feature. Make sure that “YourTemplate” is exactly the same as your directory name. It is case-sensitive, so “YourTemplate” and “yourtemplate” are different names.
Rename subSilver.cfg and subSilver.css to YourTemplate.cfg and YourTemplate.css
Open theme_info.cfg and replace all “subSilver” with “YourTemplate” (including all $subSilver[0]… with $YourTemplate[0])
Save all modified files. You’ve got yourself a new template. Now you can install it in admin control panel (this document will help you) and edit colors in admin control panel and edit tpl files.
