Brando is an awesome boy that's no trouble at all !!! He loves to play and if you tell him to find his ball he will look all day. He's house trained, knows how to sit and shake hands just to name a few. He needs a fenced yard, and no young children. He also needs some extra time to get to know a few men. Meet Mr. Murphy!
2007-08-25 05:12:00
Now, how could anyone resist such an adorable face? Mr. Murphy was picked up with his brother by a nice couple while they were on vacation. They had been hanging around the park for a couple of weeks. So they wouldn't get hit on the road, the couple took us to the local dog pound only to find out it was a barn with cages where we would be held for 72 hours for our owners to come claim us.They are currently in a foster home learning everything they need to know to be great companion dogs. He's a little shy, and should not go to a home with children.Mr. Murphy is listed with Buckeye Border Collie Rescue in Ohio. They are a non-profit organization that is run by volunteers. They are committed to the welfare of Border Collies in need in the Ohio area. The Border Collies are fostered in homes throughout the state of Ohio. The main co-ordination of the rescue group is conducted in Tiffin in northwest Ohio. For more information about Mr. Murphy, click here!

2007-08-24 05:14:00
Freckles is a 2.5 year old pointer mix and 35 pounds of energy and love. She will require an active lifestyle, perhaps as an agility, frisbee, or running companion. Freckles is currently in obedience training and is responding with the routine. She is quite trainable, but needs time to settle down around new surroundings, good with other dogs, but will chase cats and other animals. Freckles would work best in a family (whatever size) with a fenced yard, where she could run and play frequently. She is very affectionate and rides well in the car. Freckles is looking for her forever home--will it be yours? We found Freckles currently being cared for by Starfish Pet Rescue and Adoption Center in Florida. Starfish Pet Rescue evolved as a means to help at least a few dogs find their talents in life, whether it be as an agility dog, disc dog, therapy dog, and, in all cases, beloved friend. To see more about Freckles, click here!

Milo, Duke IV and Silky are all Bichons, ages 5, 11 and 7 years old.Milo, the fantastic little guy on the left! Aren't they the best looking trio? They are a bit sad right now because their owner passed away, but they're also very optimistic that they will find wonderful new homes.Duke is Milo's father, and Silky is Milo's mother. They've been together a long time and would like to stay that way. However, they do understand that adopting 3 dogs is a lot to ask of one person or family. They are willing to part as long as they all go to excellent and loving homes! All three adore children, dogs, and even cats. They are all house-broken, house-trained, healthy, and low-maintenance. They just want to be loved and appreciated.Their former human Daddy was so kind to them, and he raised them up right! Sugar is a Cattle Dog mix of 2 years old. She is housebroken and would do well around older children (8+ years or older). She weighs about 50 pounds. Sugar has one request and that is that she be the "only" 4-legged companion in the home as she doesn't like to share the attention. She loves to snuggle on the couch with you and probably in your bed as well. A fenced yard is required. Sugar I recently went and did a "School Visit" and was so sweet and great with all of the kids!We found Sugar currently being cared for by Pet Refuge in Mishawaka, Indiana. Meet Vanessa!
2007-08-18 05:04:00
Vanessa is a real cutie who is very playful and loves belly rubs. She is a young terrier mix who enjoys wrestling with her roommate and playing fetch. She is a small-size prize! She needs a home without children under the age of 5 or cats and special fencing because of my talent for climbing chain link.We met Vanessa through Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Mountain Center, California. In 1980 Emily Jo Beard acquired 153 acres in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild and named it Living Free Animal Sanctuary — which is the only sanctuary founded by Emily. She devoted the rest of her life to providing refuge for orphaned cats and dogs. "We have an obligation to better the lives of the animals with whom we share the earth," said Emily. Today at Living Free they: save the lives of Cats and Dogs who otherwise would be euthanized; spread the message that our companion cats and dogs are entitled to secure lives enhanced by loving care; and teach youngsters and adults to understand, respec

Fun Things To Do With Your Pup Link Love Project!
2007-08-17 05:00:00
There are so many fun things you can do with your pups. And I know that many dogs out there would love to have a list of things they can do with their Mums and/or Dads. So, I put together this Fun Things To Do With Your Pup Link Love Project , for us to all have a great list of activities!Mum and I like to go canoing when we get a chance. We drive north about 45 minutes to a place that rents canoes, they transport us up the White River about 2 or so miles by school bus (and I do pretty well in that bus, by the way), then Mum puts on her life jacket herself and puts my Ruff Wear life jacket on me and we are off! I'm really good about staying in the canoe, so Mum can paddle us along. We stop along shore along the way for snacks and exploring and wading in the water. About two hours later we pull up to where our car is! It's great fun, you should try it sometime, makes for a great weekend afternoon! If you participated in my Fruits and Veggies Link Love Project, you know what to do! If no

Meet Luther!
2007-08-31 05:40:00
Luther was surrendered to a shelter when he was only 3 months old because he wasn't quite "perfect." It's not known whether his "defect" came as a result of an injury or he was born this way. Regardless of the origin, his handicap doesn't seem to slow him down one bit nor stop him from living life to the fullest.Luther's back legs don't seem to get their signals quite right. They act as if they were "joined" together. Luther can walk, run, go up and down steps, jump up, do just about anything any "normal" dog can do. But when he does these things, he looks more like a "bunny" than a dog because both legs act as a "team." He has had a full neurological evaluation and testing. His condition is stable at this point and has not changed in over 2 months. If anything, he continues to get stronger every day.Luther is otherwise a perfectly healthy and normal puppy. He is very sweet and affectionate, loves to cuddle up and be with his human friends. We believe he will do best in a home wit

Her playful nature makes her a joy to have around.Bella may have a lot of energy, but she calms down quite easily. This girl loves to curl up in your lap and get lots of ear and belly rubs. She is sure to always get her afternoon nap and is careful to take her nap near you. (Should you decide to give out some spontaneous belly rubs.) At night, Bella will cuddle close on the bed. And if that’s not your cup of tea, she is just as happy with a soft blanket or a doggie bed on the floor.Bella was a stray, so she is still learning basic commands. She is not quite house-trained, yet, but she is doing very well. Bella is a very smart dog and she is eager to please. Obedience is not a prob

Meet Charlie!
2007-08-28 05:34:00
Charlie is a charming young brittany boy who was turned into the humane society for basically "being a puppy". Yes, he does have a high activity level, and may get into a little bit of mischief (given the chance), but none of his behaviors are outside the realm of a normal brittany puppy. In fact, his foster home thinks he might have the edge on most puppies with his good looks and silly personality. He is a "conversationalist" - he likes to talk to you to get your attention. He is not a barker, but makes fun little vocalizations that add to his charm.Charlie loves to play with other dogs, and would really like a playmate. He is good with kids and other animals. He needs some socialization and work on obedience, but is very eager to please. He would make a great addition to a family/home who has some time to spend giving him the groundwork he'll need to be an awesome adult dog.We found Charlie through American Brittany Rescue and he is being fostered in Utah. Sponsor Buzz!
2007-09-18 05:10:00
Buzz, a two-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, and his brother were found abandoned in the New Mexico desert when they were just a few months old. Little brother was adopted, but Buzz is another one of those guys who never could see the sense of letting humans touch him. He's utterly beautiful, sweet-natured, and cooperative. Takes treats from the staffs' hands, plays happily with the other dogs and sometimes joyously romps alone with his big rope toy. Buzz lives inside and outside, as he wishes, but even after 2 years, if the staff sneaks in a light touch, he leaps sideways! So, of course, he's not on the adoption roster. But he could really use and would be happy for a sponsor -- just no petting, please!Buzz is spending his days with Bridging The Worlds, an animal sanctuary, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Their mission is to alleviate animal suffering by providing sanctuary from abuse, neglect, and homelessness; to end the killing of healthy animals as a method of population control; and to t
