Meet Mia!
2007-07-18 05:47:00
Are you looking for good looks and a great personality -- that sweet girl who loves everyone she meets? Do you wish you could find a dog with high drive, but doesn't mind hanging out, too? Then Mia might just be the girl you've been searching for. There's one thing you should know about Mia, she lives to play! She'll play ball and tug as long as you want, and she even enjoys just playing with toys by herself. Mia is now house trained and crate trained, but she came to rescue with no training, so she can be a bit of a wild child at times. However, she's been working hard to learn her manners, and really gets a kick out of learning all sorts of new things. She's learning quickly to sit instead of jumping on people, sit and wait at doors, walk on leash and leave things alone. She'll need a family that will commit to continuing her education to help her reach her potential. Her keen mind, eagerness to work with people, and her love of playing and running give her great potential for s

Meet Betty Boop!
2007-07-17 05:05:00
Betty Boop was found at a local shelter and taken in by Project Pet in Columbia, South Carolina. She can be a wee bit nervous at first, so a home with very young children might not be ideal. Older kids would be great and she'd likely enjoy them very much. She's quite pretty and has a very pleasant disposition. As with all their pets up for adoption, she's been spayed, vaccinated and is microchipped.Project Pet believes companion pets have value beyond economic measurement and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration. Their mission is to form a federation of like-minded organizations and individuals to alleviate animal suffering; set safe and humane standards for companion pets and shelters; and educate and increase awareness of the necessity for spaying and neutering to reduce the overall number of unwanted companion pets, eventually reducing the need for euthanasia.Betty Boop is 1-2 years old and looking for her forever home. Meet Trisha!
2007-08-12 05:29:00
Just look at this graceful aristocratic face! Trisha 's ancestors came from ancient Russia and were originally owned exclusively by noblemen. She is a Borzoi mix, 52 lbs., spayed and about 1.5 years old.As is typical of this breed, Trisha appears somewhat aloof when first meeting her, but once she gets to know you, she is very affectionate. Trisha needs plenty of space to exercise and should be an excellent jogging companion. Preferably her new yard will be fenced in and Trisha would do best with older children. We found Trisha currently being cared for by Noah's Ark Animal Foundation in Fairfield, Iowa. They are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, charitable, nonprofit organization. For over 18 years Noah's Ark Animal Foundation has offered loving care to homeless and abandoned cats and dogs. For more information on Trisha, click here!

Meet Butchie!
2007-08-11 05:52:00
Butchie is a mature Airedale Terrier who appreciates a calm, quiet environment. The poor guy found himself in the middle of a divorce, and he subsequently became homeless.Butchie is a refined soul. (He is not a real fan of petting and roughhousing.) Also, he'd like you to know that he would really rather be the only pet in an adult-only house.Butchie would make a very nice walking companion. He walks very well on a leash, never tugging or pulling. In fact, walking beside a kind two-legged friend is how Butchie prefers to interact with people. He is pretty sensitive about having some parts of his body, such as his muzzle and mouth, handled. Poor Butchie also becomes nervous in new or unfamiliar situations. So a stable, predictable home is what this adorable older gentleman is searching for.Now that we got those things out of the way, it's time to meet this quiet, considerate friend and discover the incredible gentleman that he is.We found Butchie being cared for by Animal Friends.

Meet McGuyver!
2007-08-10 05:42:00
McGuyver is an extremely cute little guy, solid white, about 12 lbs and about 5 mos old. He is very friendly and playful and likes other dogs and cats.He came out of the shelter where he was surrendered along with 17 other animals! He is still occasionally fearful, particularly of vacuum cleaners and reprimands from older dogs. These things make him want to hide under furniture sometimes, but a loving home should soon cure him of that. He has received his rabies shot, heartworm test, puppy shot, worming, and spay/ neuter. We found McGuyver currently being cared for by Jackson County Humane Society in Sylvia, NC. They are an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation composed of a small group of volunteers who rescue animals from the shelter, the roads, and the community and keep them in their own homes. Meet Fergus!
2007-08-14 05:41:00
Fergus is a four to five month old Sheepdog/Aussie mix male puppy. He is super social and he loves other dogs. He seems quite bright and learned his name in just a couple of hours, also mastered stairs (he had seemingly never been up or down stairs previously!) .He also listens well and really wants to please. He is snuggly and has an active and fun-loving personality - but he also knows how to stop, relax and "smell the roses" or rather - enjoy a cuddle and a good nap (or sleep through the night!). He's a very active young man and will need lots of exercise. Everyone that meets Fergus falls in love. We'd like him to have a home with a good yard, another dog and people who know and understand dogs and have the time to give him a great life!We met Fergus through the Milo Foundation in Berkeley, California. The Milo Foundation was named after an Australian Shepherd. Milo was five weeks old when Lynne Tingle discovered that her puppy was both deaf and blind. Despite concerns from friends

Meet Brittany!
2007-08-13 05:48:00
Brittany is a Brittany Spaniel. She is a sweet lady who was taken out of the pound and brought to Animal Ark in hopes of finding a real family to love and call her own. She's an older gal, looking for mellow fun. She just spent a week in foster care so they could find out more about her.Her foster mom says that she is very cuddly and friendly and in a home setting, she's much more comfortable and eager to spend time with people. When she's happy, she would often do little "dances" around the house! Brittany does just fine with other dogs, but would also be OK being the only dog. And she's housetrained! One funny thing about her is that she can’t bark. Sometimes, she gets all excited and moves her mouth like she is barking but nothing comes out! It doesn’t seem like she's been debarked, because she doesn't make that quiet, croaky sound. So, hey, do you have a spot for a cuddly, good-natured girl who’s easy to have around? Maybe you should come meet her! We found

Meet Sugar!
2007-08-20 05:31:00
Sugar is a Cattle Dog mix of 2 years old. She is housebroken and would do well around older children (8+ years or older). She weighs about 50 pounds. Sugar has one request and that is that she be the "only" 4-legged companion in the home as she doesn't like to share the attention. She loves to snuggle on the couch with you and probably in your bed as well. A fenced yard is required. Sugar I recently went and did a "School Visit" and was so sweet and great with all of the kids!We found Sugar currently being cared for by Pet Refuge in Mishawaka, Indiana. Pet Refuge is a not-for-profit "no-kill" animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets into responsible permanent homes. For more information about Sugar, click here!

Meet Vanessa!
2007-08-18 05:04:00
Vanessa is a real cutie who is very playful and loves belly rubs. She is a young terrier mix who enjoys wrestling with her roommate and playing fetch. She is a small-size prize! She needs a home without children under the age of 5 or cats and special fencing because of my talent for climbing chain link.We met Vanessa through Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Mountain Center, California. In 1980 Emily Jo Beard acquired 153 acres in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild and named it Living Free Animal Sanctuary — which is the only sanctuary founded by Emily. She devoted the rest of her life to providing refuge for orphaned cats and dogs. "We have an obligation to better the lives of the animals with whom we share the earth," said Emily. Today at Living Free they: save the lives of Cats and Dogs who otherwise would be euthanized; spread the message that our companion cats and dogs are entitled to secure lives enhanced by loving care; and teach youngsters and adults to understand, respec
