You see, even though he is blind....Einstein is a wonderful little dog despite the fact that he spent the first part of his life in pure misery.Einstein had spent his whole life living in a cage. Rescued from a puppy mill where he had been used for breeding...and having nothing his whole life, this little guy is amazingly loving and sweet. After discovering that Einstein was blind due to cataracts, he was no longer "valuable" and was tossed out like trash. He was rescued and we are so happy to have him!This six year old, male, cocker spaniel, may be blind, but it seems that he may be able to regain some sight in his right eye with surgery. He loves other dogs and people. He is such a sweet boy. He would be a wonderful family dog.He is up to date with routine shots and has been neutered. We found Sam currently being cared for by S.O.S. Meet Fern! 2007-08-04 17:27:00 Fern came to the Home At Last Animal Shelter in Salvisa, Kentucky, with her mother and eight siblings at only ten days old in the spring of 2000.They were found in a barrel in a very rural KY community where strays are “controlled” by poisoning or shooting. They have all been adopted, now only Fern and her brother Woodrow remain.These beautiful shepherd mixes are sweet, though a bit shy of newcomers since they haven’t spent much time off of the sanctuary grounds. They are full of energy, but calm down easily for one-on-one attention. She is a 37lb herding mix who was surrendered with two other dogs when their guardian moved and could no longer keep them.She is good with dogs and livestock but has not been exposed to cats. Fuzz is housetrained and knows some basic obedience. Like her breed type, Fuzz is a very active and intelligent dog who will need a guardian that is commited to keeping her mentally and physically exhausted. If it's not too much trouble, he'd like to follow you around when you're outside, and sit next to you when you're inside. He'd like to lay his head gently on your lap so you can pet him.He'd like to sleep on the floor next to your bed at night, and lay his head on the edge of the bed for more petting when you wake up. He'd like you to take him on nice long walks, and to the park. But more than anything, he doesn't want to be alone again.Chex was picked up as a stray by a shelter in rural Indiana. He must have been abandoned by his previous owner because there is no way this sweet, sweet dog would ever run away from home. He's housebroken, walks nicely on leash, and knows some basic commands. He'll gladly learn some more if you take the time to teach him.Chex is good with other dogs, but is most interested in his people. He likes kids, but shows a bit too much interest in cats, so he should go to a cat-free home.

He would very much like to be back in a home with his very own people to love and adore.Charlie is a male Dachshund. He weighs 16 pounds and was born 7/5/04. He is currently being cared for by Hearts United for Animals, a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization in Auburn, Nebraska.Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and they have volunteers in the area to do a home visit.
