Ideal Job, Ideal World 2007-06-10 09:13:18 For as long as I can remember, way back before even the world wide web, never mind the blogoshpear; I always thought that I would love to be a columnist for a newspaper. That it would be a great job to write one column a week and get paid some, if not lots, of money [...] Read more:World
There is nothing wrong with porn 2007-06-08 08:00:59 Many people might think because I call my work “Literary Erotica” that I think porn is bad, or inferior.
There is nothing wrong with porn. I myself read stories posted on web sites and news groups all the time. And when I first got board band Internet access I subscribed to a couple of Internet porn [...]
Why do I call my work “Literary Erotica” ? 2007-05-30 08:06:13 Well the first part “Literary
” is simple to explain. I write stories, specifically novels. (I have tried to write short stories, but most of the ideas I have fit into the novel, or novella length. Maybe someday I’ll learn to fit a whole story into a short space.)
Many people write stories, so why do I [...]

New layout of Alexandra 2007-05-02 13:52:07 I am hoping to reformat Alexandra
over the next few days. I am going to change the layout
of the navigation. Which, I think, will also change the permalinks, though the first page of each chapter should be unaffected.

New Erotic Romance 2007-06-18 18:02:31 I have just uploaded the first chapter in a new, if slightly unusual, erotic romance, entitled “Justine“:
Justine is not the sweet little innocent that John at first thinks she is. From their first date onwards Justine takes John on a whirlwind sexual adventure that leaves him begging her for more.
From exhibitionism, to threesomes and BDSM [...] Read more:Romance
Alice Chapter 1 Updated 2007-06-22 05:20:42 While working on Chapter
2 of Alice I reread chapter one and found 7 typos and half a dozen misspellings. I also did a little rewriting and added about 170 words.
The good news is I am halfway through chapter 2 and hope to publish it within the next 2 weeks.
Extreme Blogging 2007-06-30 06:19:58 There is no such thing as bad publicity.
Or so the old showbiz adage goes. And while many bloggers might not know it we bloggers are all in the entertainment business. Even though we write posts about technology, or Web 2.0, or fishing we are trying to entertain as well as inform our readers.
Recently on the copyblogger blog Leo Babauta wrote a post encouraging bloggers to be bold. Stand out from the crowd by making bold statements was the advice given in that post. Good advice which I will try to follow.
But while we all want attention for our blogs, attention seeking just for the sake of attention is not that basis for long term success for your blog.
People have been know to take it too far. For instance I don’t think I could handle the type of publicity that Casey Serin (World’s Most Hated Blogger) gets. Casey is a self confessed fraudster facing bankruptcy with debts of over $2 Million, who has a blog about himself. I only came across Casey when Yaro Starak wrote a post ab Read more:Blogging

A Blog By Any Other Name 2007-06-28 08:36:33 Over the years I have started and maintained several different web sites, and even some intranets for companies that I worked for.
At first I hand coded HTML using a basic text editor, then I hand coded using a programmer’s editor called EditPlus. I tried to keep my sites simple. I didn’t use must formatting. I had very basic CSS files. I am a programmer not a designer so layout and fonts and colour schemes are not my strong point.
I tried various WYSIWYG editors like FrontPage and HotMetal (though I was never very happy with them). But eventually I had to admit that I needed something more that a site with a handful of static pages. So I started my journey into the wild landscape of CMS’s. I will not list all the CMS’s that I tried, At one stage or another I have tried the top 8 on one or another of my web sites(Most of my web sites are gone by the wayside). I don’t want to start any flame wars, I found nothing wrong with any of them, they just didn&rsquo
New Format for Stories 2007-04-21 18:14:10 I have just discovered the “Newpage” tag in WordPress.
I had thought that there should be something like this for breaking up large posts/pages into parts but could not find it. (There is no button on the formatting bar in the WordPress editor.)
So now I can post each chapter as a single page and split it up into smaller parts for easier on-line reading.
I have also been playing around with the formatting of the navigation links. I think I have a good layout now. Read more:Stories
SF Novel “Celia” 2007-04-19 16:29:12 Those of you who check my site often might have noticed an new page appearing after “Erotica” on my pages list. This new page of “Science Fiction” is where I have begun to post my SF Novel “Celia
“.
“Celia” is the first novel I completed, and tried to get published. It is quite old now, I finished in 1990, and I feel like it was written by another person. It is not something I would write now. But still I feel it is quite readable and some people might enjoy it.
It was orginally going to be part of a 3, or 4, book series, but as usual I never got around to writing the other books in the series.
The 1,000 Mile Journey 2007-07-02 04:20:48 The journey of 1,000 miles starts with a single step. - Ancient proverb.
And for me taking that first step is the easiest thing in the world to. It is taking the second step, and the third step and the fourth step, step after step, day after day, even year after year, that is the hard part.
I have taken so many first steps that I’ve probably completed 1,000 “1,000 mile journeys”. But because they have all been first steps I have completed relatively little. I have just walked 1,000 little steps around and around in a circle. An uneven staggered circle as a burst of enthusiasm propels me in one direction, and then the next big idea propels me in the opposite.
And so at the start of each journey I resolve to myself that this time I will complete my journey. I will make a map, a plan of what I want to archive. I will list my goals. I will do a to-do list. I will take all the necessary steps needed to complete my journey.
But even then I don’t want to take all those Read more:Journey
Is it True? 2007-07-04 15:55:27 When I first wrote Alexandra I quite naturally showed it to my friends and family to ask their option. I received a whole range of feedback from the “Oh, it’s nice”s to some serious and constrictive criticism. (Plus a whole bunch of “Oh my god! You can’t write stuff like that!”.)
But the reaction that most surprised me was the question “Is it real?”
It is a question I have since found many erotic writers are asked.
It is a question that says more about the questioners than it does the author who gets asked it.
If you write a story about a bank robbery, people don’t ask if you rob banks.
If you write a story about a murder, people don’t assume that you have committed murdered.
If you write a story about sex, people want to know who you did it with.
It doesn’t matter what sex acts that you portray your characters performing, from the most plain vanilla to the most outrageous BDSM, people always want it to be real. They wan

Status Update 2007-07-13 08:17:28 Story statuses:
I am still working on Alice and Justine. The main problem with posting online as I write is that I do not write sequentially or contiguously. For instance I have one third of Alice written, but that consists of two big chunks in the middle and the ending. But I only have half of chapter 2 written. I can’t really give you chapter 9 and chapter 12 when some of the other chapters have only a few hundred words written and some are completely blank. For one chapter I have no idea what happens in it yet.
A similar situation pertains to Justine where I have written chunks of the next couple of chapters but they are are not continuous in terms of story line. I have even written the last 3 paragraphs of the ending for Justine, but I don’t know how many chapters there will be in the story yet.
Thought in the past week real-life has been very distracting and I have not done much writing.

Site Update 2007-07-16 19:29:04 I believe that I have now updated all the links to reflect the new layout of the site. So you shouldn’t get any 404’s/”Post not found” errors. If you do please let me know.
Of course all this faffing about(that’s my word for this week :-)) with the site layout means that I didn’t get to write any more of Alice Chapter 2 today.
I am going on holiday on the 25th till the 1st August, so I might just get Chapter 2 of Alice finished before I go, if I don’t find something else to distract myself with.
However that does mean that I won’t get Chapter 2 of Justine finished by the end of the month. So those of you waiting to see what happens in the Chinese restaurant will have to wait till next month.

Site Breakdown 2007-07-16 13:33:27 I am making some changes to the layout of my site and I have just broken all my permalinks.
All the links to my stories in pages and posts no longer work. The links in the sidebar do work.
I will work my way through the pages and posts to update the URLs of the links.
In the meantime you can use the links on the sidebar to navigate my stories.
I am writing this post rather than fixing the problem as I have to leave my computer for the next few hours and do stuff in real life. But when I get back to my computer this will be the first thing that I do.
If you like this why not buy me a cup of coffee?
The good news, and the bad. 2007-07-20 04:00:05 The good news is that I stopped faffing about and actually got a chunk of Alice written.
The bad news is that while I started my writing day on chapter 2 I got distracted and most of the additional text that I added to Alice ended up in chapter 8, with some in chapter 10.
Which is really good news, in a way. As when I do get the first 7 chapters finished chapter 8 should be almost, if not fully, completed and then you won’t have a long wait to see what happens next when you finish chapter 7.
Though that might be bad news for those eagerly sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for the rest of chapter 2, in the end it’ll all be worth it. You’ll see.
Today I promise that I will work on chapter 2.
No really I promise.
If you like this why not buy me a cup of coffee?
More faffing about. 2007-07-23 20:00:17 Well … sort of. I did spend 2 hours setting up a new blog for my wife. But I also wrote a big chunk of Alice Chapter 2. I now have the ending written and another bit in the middle finished, but I need to join them together. Most of chapter 2 is written, well over 2/3rds. Nothing major happens in the bits that are missing, I just need to lead the story from one scene to the next(in a logical and self consistent manor). it’s just a matter of knuckling down and writing it without giving in to too many distractions.
Mostly today I spend working on the story line for a prequel to Justine.
There are some references, in later chapters of Justine, to a previous relationship of Justine’s. One which hurt her really badly emotionally. And I have just today, during my free writing warm up exercise merged another recurring fantasy that I have with Justine’s backstory to come up with the outline of another complete novel. The story of Justine’s first major relationship
I am Back at work now 2007-08-02 08:01:26 I am just back from Italy and am busy unpacking, catching up on email, etc.
One piece of advice before you go away is always remember to take out the trash the day you leave, rather than the day you return.
I nearly finished Chapter 2 of Alice, but I have a lot on for the next few days and probably will not get it finished until Monday or Tuesday.
So ir’s Monday … 2007-08-06 14:53:14 … and I do not have Chapter 2 of Alice finished. There was a lot more that needed to be done to it than I thought, plus more distractions. (Well they are my children so I guess I am somewhat responsible [for/to] them.) In the end I think that it will be worth it. In case you are reading this post when I have finished Alice Chapter 2 the part that I have added and that I am working on is the part where Alice is in the long grass. Hopefully it will be very sensual and maybe even erotic.
Also the more I look at it the more I think that the ending needs a little more polish.
So why have I taken the time to write this post rather than working on chapter 2? Well this is my attempt at marketing, not a dilly or a dally honest.
I had wanted to turn the blog part of my site into an “inside the artist’s mind” sort of thing. Showing my readers the processes and trails and tribulations that go into my working life as an author. So I will start more regular posts along these Read more:Monday
