Trophy Donations Requested

On December 9th, the Collectible Car Group of Pine Ridge will be hosting a classic car show to benefit the Humane Society of Citrus County from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Many models of interest, and adoptable pets will be on hand. The event will include trophies, a mini-auction, and prizes. Lunch will be available from the Brooklyn Deli. Location will be the Pine Ridge Community Center South Field in Beverly Hills, Florida. Sponsorship or donation of trophies are requested. Canine Good Citzen Training Offered

Canine Good Citizenship Certification is being offered by The Humane Society of Citrus County Sunday, November 12 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM. It is part of the Ride for Rescue and Pet Party Open House that will take place at the Citrus County Auditorium and will be offered throughout the day on a rolling basis.Testing will be administered by Janet Billups, AKC Certified Evaluator. Cost will be $10.00 per dog. Janet is donating half of the fee to The Humane Society of Citrus County. Thanks, Janet!Your dog will be tested on ten different skills which will show that he/she will behaved well mannered in a public situation. Discovery Channel Stars Donate Raffle Prize to Humane Society of Citrus County Event

Orange County Choppers, which is the setting for the Discovery Channel 's hit show "American Choppers", has donated a raffle prize to the Humane Society of Citrus County. The holder of the winning raffle ticket at HSCC's November 12th Ride for Rescue and Pet Party Open House will win an autographed picture featuring Paul Teutul, Sr. and his canine companion, Gus, the Bull Mastiff, posing with a custom motorcycle. Other raffle prizes donated by local businesses include: leather jackets and vests, pet themed gift baskets, restaurant gift certificates, collectible items, and more. The raffle may be entered at the event from Noon to 4:00 pm at the Citrus County Auditorium. Motorcycle riders are encouraged to come early to attend the Bike Run at 9:00 a.m. Entry fee for the Ride for Rescue Bike Run is $15 for bike, $5 to add a passenger. Ride for Rescue Bike Club Challenge

The Humane Society of Citrus County announces an exciting addition to the November 12th Ride for Rescue Motorcycle Run and Pet Party Open House!A large trophy will be awarded to the bike club or organization that has the most registered members and friends participating in the ride. It will remain with the winning bike club or organization for one year. At the second annual Bike Run, the winning club or organization will have a chance to defend their trophy, and perhaps bring even more friends.Be sure to preregister and indicate the name of your Club on the entry form.If you are a club organizer or member and would like a packet, please call (352) 400-2441 to request one.

Snowmobile's Story

Meet Snowmobile ! He is an American Eskimo dog, and the mascot for The Humane Society of Citrus County.He may be smiling now, but his life wasn't always happy.Can you believe anyone could harm a dog this sweet? A cruel person used him for target practice and left him paralyzed with a BB wedged inside that cannot be removed. Snow was picked up by Animal Control and was slated to be euthanized, even though he was otherwise healthy, friendly, and in no apparent pain. That is until HSCC president Lisa Jacobson stepped in. She spotted him in one of the back cages at Animal Control where he would never have been seen by a potential adopter! She took Snow out of that horrible place.This was Snowmobile, not too long after, at the EXIT Realty Leaders Grand Opening where HSCC had a booth, relaxing in the shade. Snow has full use of his front legs, but he is unable to bend his back legs. They are stuck in a straight and stiff position, making it very difficult to get around. Because of where


Ride for Rescue and Pet Party Open House Announced!

We are pleased to announce... Ride for Rescue November 12, 2006To Benefit the new Humane Society of Citrus County, Florida A Bike Run to benefit the Humane Society of Citrus County. All proceeds go to help reach the goal of building a shelter for abandoned, homeless, and abused animals in Citrus County. Registration starts at 9:00 am, followed by the ride. All preregistered participants are guaranteed lunch. Latecomers are first come, first serve. $15 per rider, $5 per passenger.Come for the rideand a chance to ride the open country roads of Citrus County, stay for the party!The Pet Party Open House (12:00-4:00)Immediately follows with pet supply vendors, activities, drawings, music and more. Dogs and other leashed pets with proof of rabies vaccination are welcome to also attend (the rabies tag is not enough, must have paper from the vet). The Mission of the Humane Society of Citrus County is as follows:Ø Establish and maintain a shelter/haven for rescued, abandoned and abused animals of all descriptions in Citrus County and make every effort to maintain a no-kill philosophy. Ø Promote humane care and treatment of all animals needing protection in Citrus County. Ø Promote the adoption of rescued, abandoned or abused animals in Citrus County. Ø Promote spay-neuter in Citrus County in order to help alleviate the overpopulation of unwanted pets.
