Exitos A Go Go
2007-09-23 23:51:00
well I dont have too much time to update this anymore because of school and shit, but Ive been trying once a week for all those that still come here and visit. so enjoy.Well I decided to go back to my Latin American roots and upload, Exitos A Go Go part 3 of the Planetary Pebbles 3 Volumes. (if anyone has the other 2 could you please share) So this volume focuses on Latin American garage bands from Mexico to Argentina. Such an amazing comp I recommend it to anyone even if you dont speak spanish. It includes a lot of forgotten bands from south of the border. 1 Los Sicodelicos - Solo Tu Nombre Puede Cortar Las Flores 2 La Tropa Loca - El Fanatico3 Los Canarios - 3-2-1-ah!4 Ruben Y Sus Emociones - Mari Y Juana 5 Los Naufragos - Hippies Y Todo El Circo6 Los Hitters - El Ovni7 Los In Mi - Pequeno Libro Rojo8 Los Shakers - Don't Ask me Love9 Los Romancieros - El Bueno, El Mayo & El Feo (The Good, The Bad & The Ugly) 10 Con's Combo - Vas A Perder Su Amor

ESG
2007-09-05 21:57:00
ESG's DIY tracks have a raw, unfinished feel--echo-drenched vocals buried deep in the mix, jagged hen-scratch guitar, taut bass lines as infectious as mononucleosis, and reverberating layers of percussion... The group's 1981 debut single, "Moody"... is one of the funkiest songs ever recorded. - SpinESG remain a no-wave New York group unlike any other. - NewMusicExpress For those who dont know, their song "Me Love For You" was covered by The Dirtbombs. While they remain relativly unknown to most people their music has been sampled by countless other artists.ESG - A South Bronx Story

a little early maybe, but these are my picks for best albums of the yearThe Black Lips, people thought that their move to Vice would make them sellout and play hipster indie music, lucky for us they didnt. Though the sound isnt as trashie as their other albums it's still a decent album with some of their best songs. The Black Lips - Good Bad Not EvilFrom the first time I heard this album I knew it was the best of the year. King Khan is amazing! We all know his work with King Khan & BBQ Show, from the split album with the Dirtbombs to his early work with bands like Les Sexareenos and Spaceshits, but this time around I believe he surpassed them all. Well KK & BBQ are pretty damn good, but this if fucken amazing.King Khan & His Shrines - What Is?

My formal introduction will have to wait, for all my uploads are not quite ready yet :(this band is really really awesome though!!!THE DYNAMITE BROTHERS- CLAP ALONG WITH THE DYNAMITE BROTHERSKinda wish I was talking about these dynamite brothers:but i somehow doubt the soundtrack to this movie is as awesome as the debut, and so far, the only release, by the rock/soul/blues/funk group The Dynamite Brothers:Track listing1. Bus Stop2. I Can't Win Pt. 23. My Lover4. Sleepwalkin' Again5. Tellin' Stories6. Sunday 12am7. One Way Blues8. Raw Dawggin' Again9. Judgement Day10. Pins In My Doll11. No You Didn't12. Crazy13. Sack O' Lockshttp://www.mediafire.com/?713dle34z9dNow, the influences listed on their myspace, are pretty dead on; and I find myself finding this more and more odd how essential myspace has been to the music world because without this myspace, this tiny page of information found through google search [google=internet god], a random, bumbling stranger would have no look int

Rock+Stegosaurus+Tokyo= Godzilla?
2007-10-25 12:08:00
hey, it's someone newww.I'm gonna be posting alongside Jon, and I know he's got the garagepunkrock thing going on, which I am also all about, but my goal here will be to overlap him in a way, because there are not many reccomendations I can make in that genre that Jon would not already have covered well. I promise everything I like is enjoyable (feel free to add me). I'll try to use mediafire everytime, but I run into uploading problems with them a lot. So begins the dawn of THE SUPER BLOG, and although we're not going to overtake and destroy Tokyo , we're still going to have quite a bit of fun while... drinking tea? surfing the interweb? listening to music on 'the iPod'? meh, do whatever. My goal will always be to post something you most likely have not heard yet. fair enough?I know I started out this post with the exicitement and possibility of some great J-rock artists-- but i did not intend to globe-trot quite that far. Instead, here are three great European artists, all mai

Some favorites of this past year, before the year-end lists are oh-so-carefully calculated in your mind, check out what you may have missed (or are already weighing in!):The Low Budgets- Leave Us A Loanhttp://www.mediafire.com/?bzyqmz6nvf2Philadelphia natives, The Low Budgets, are goofy as hell (if you've seen the short film starring them you know what I mean), and they don't give a shit... actually that can really just be attributed to coming from Philadelphia, haha. Led by the lead singer of The Dead Milkmen, the band churns out quirked punk rock anthems that remain catchy regardless of the crazy lyrics. It's a treat.Marnie Stern- In Advance of the Broken Armhttp://www.mediafire.com/?d0bzwugj5jgThis album got really blogged-out, but I am mentioning it yet again because it really is that awesome. If you can't get behind any other track on the album, "Every Single Line Means Something" probably stands out for me as a top ten single for the year, most definitely. Clearly influenced

Big Bang
2007-12-03 07:18:00
first post of december! wooooModey LemonI was reminded of this Pittsburgh band while listening to the Lord Grunge (of Grand Buffet) podcast I got off of itunes (if you're a fan of the amazing rock rap band by the name of Grand Buffet, the podcast is called "The Grungeman Speaketh" and the podcast are dated for like... 2005 or something, they're enjoyable). Modey Blues are probably the best rock band to come out of Pittsburgh, and even I would say "best anything" originally, but I'm earning a mild respect for Pittsburgh everyday when I listen to acts like Grand Buffet or Modey Lemon. Along with being a personal favorite of mine, they're also probably the most successful alternative band from Pittsburgh and have been developing a following quickly, having toured with Dinosaur Jr. in 2002 on their reunion tour. I don't have much recent knowledge of this band, but having the opportunity to listen to them for practically all of yesterday (might repeat this behavior today), I remembered

Hey Crawdaddy
2007-12-10 13:19:00
well Im back, dont really have any best of 2007 albums to post (they have pretty much been addressed already, so I leave you with this...In a time of trendy discotheques, bombastic arena rock, and sonic punk barbarisms, the Crawdaddys were truly a peculiarity of the late '70s. The Southern California four-piece rhythm & blues combo, led by two gifted songwriter/guitarists, Steve Potterf and Ron Silva, who began in the similar garage band the Hitmakers, shrugged off all present scenes and regressed to the past, to a Mersey-era Beatles style. Influenced by '50s R&B masters like Chuck Berry and Little Richard, the Crawdaddys jump-started their own California garage rock scene, which spread widely in the early '80s as more illustrious groups like New York's Chesterfield Kings and London's Barracudas also hiked their guitars up to chest level. -amgThe Crawdaddys - Crawdaddy Express

Acid Eater
2007-12-22 02:47:00
Acid Eater - Virulent Fuzz Punk A.C.I.D. [Time Bomb 2007]"Imagine the heaviest, most fuzzed out garage rock you've ever heard, now take that and run it through a handful of distortion pedals, a bank of Acid Mothers worthy FX, blast it through a wall of busted old Vox amps, wrap the whole thing in feedback and reverb, and suddenly you're in some alien alternate future where the world is populated exclusively by Japanese noiserock beatniks, who are constantly blasting fuzzed out walls of overblown sixties sounds from their low flying spacecraft... Imagine if Merzbow remixed your favorite Fuzztones record, or the Stooges released records on PSF and were augmented by some insane drug addled organist with WAY too many amps. Serpentine blues rock riffs, all tangled up with thick warbling organs, the vocals a snarling distorted howl, buried in the mix, and all dubbed out, the drums a crumbling, percussive pound, somehow as in the red as the rest of the instruments, every cymbal crash swallo
