3D Realms releases second Duke Nukem Forever screenshot
2007-05-22 23:54:38
Not a screenshot really, more like a “tinyshot.” Yup, that’s what I call it because it’s simply ridiculously small. I magnified the image a bit for a better view but you can take a look at the original right here. Anyway, small or not, people got hyped which means 3D Realms has achieved a goal. And in case  you’re wondering, this is how the game really looks, according to 3D Realms staff member George Broussard at least: “Just to head off any questions. Real-time in game asset, like the last job ad shot. Taken from a game level with a dark background, on purpose, because we wanted to focus attention on the character.” The image was posted on Gamasutra along with an ad for an Xbox 360/Windows programmer 3D Realms is looking for. But seriously, this pigcop shot being cool and all, release a proper screenshot already!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and more ?
2007-05-16 10:56:21
GSC Game World will announce several subsequent new products in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe during E3 2007 in July(11th-13th). Does this mean S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, a non-fps game set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe or just some expansions ? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. For now, here’s a quote from GSC Game World’s CEO Sergiy Grygorovych: “We are very happy of the players’ positive reaction to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. all over the world. This fills us with confidence the team is on the right track and adds us strength to go for next exciting accomplishments. Two Worlds multiplayer info, horse races FTW
2007-05-16 08:28:38
SouthPeak Games has announced some multiplayer details for Two Worlds . For one, the multiplayer will be totally separate from the singleplayer part of the game. Players able to create custom characters around traditional multiplayer RPG classes. A hub-like lobby area will allow participants to form small teams of up to 8 players in order to tackle a wide variety of team matches, as well as engage in familiar online activities such as chatting and trading. What really caught my attention though was this line from the press release: “with new team matches, equipment and other off-the-wall activities such as horse racing and monster hunting..” Horse racing ? Cool ! Can’t wait to try that out. Here’s hoping the horses will be a bit better to navigate than they were in Oblivion. I do find one thing kind of weird thuogh - the PC version has been out in Europe for 6 days now, why do they announce the MP info now and not before the games release ? Oh well..

Duke Nukem Forever snippets
2007-06-12 14:42:03
Gamasutra has done an interview with 3D Realms’ Van Lierop where among other thing Lierop talks a few words about Duke Nukem Forever : “You choose to work for a company because you believe in the people working there. I’m going to continue to learn from both Scott and George Broussard. They will be the first people to admit that they made some mistakes with regards to Duke Nukem Forever. But I’ve seen it. I’ve played it. And I really believe that when it does come out people won’t be disappointed. And you can see the fan anticipation still building for the game, even recently with the release of tiny screenshots in job postings on Gamasutra. I don’t consider the game to be a black mark at all. They take the time they need to make the game they want to develop. I’d say that a lot of developers are envious of their position. Duke Nukem is an icon. He’s bigger than a single game, and in rushing a game out before it’s ready, nobody

FarCry2 now officialy announced
2007-07-20 07:39:25
The sequel to FarCry, one of the best single-player experiences ever made, has been officially announced by Ubisoft today. This wasn’t any big big surprise since some artwork marked FarCry2 were leaked some time ago but it sure is nice to have official confirmation. What has me a bit concerned though is the fact that while the original FarCry was developed by the guys at CryTek (the company currently working on Crysis), FarCry2 is being made at Ubisoft’s Montreal studio. Hopefully they’ll keep FC2 true to the original. John Parkes from Ubisoft: “Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence. We are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the FPS genre landscape.” FarCry2 is currently scheduled for a Spring 2008 release for PC. No news on console versions.

First FarCry2 screenshots
2007-08-22 07:24:40
Ever since the announcement of FarCry2, I’ve been a little worried about the whole Africa setting. After all, it was the lush beaches that made the original game so unique. But I guess we’ll have Crysis to fill that void now as FarCry2 takes place in a different setting. But damn does that setting look nice! There’s some interesting things going on in the screenshots too - a storm affects trees in a major way and trees actually burn when set on fire. Have a look for yourself, here are the first screenshots from FarCry2. (more…)
