Gears of War 2 NOT at E3 2007-06-19 17:29:00
Despite the rumors , Gears
of War 2 will not be shown in any form at this year’s E3. Epic Vice-President Mark Rein, in a statement given to beyondunreal.com had the following to say, “We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year,” Rein continued “Did you see the update we just did for Gears of War last week? We’re still working on the first one.”
The fact that this rumor was debunked lends very little creditability to the the remainder of the rumors “leaked” on the Wii60 forums.

Tomb Raider Anniversary coming to 360 after all 2007-06-18 06:28:16 The rumors are true - Eidos announced today that Tomb RaiderAnniversary
will be coming to Xbox360 as downloadable episodic content, with a retail version to follow.
The content will be released as four separate episodes, costing 2400 Microsoft Points in total, and will surprisingly only be available to owners of Tomb Raider
Legend. The first two episodes will be available sometime in September with the next two following shortly after them. The retail game will be released later in the year.
While I’m definitely disappointed that we have to wait several months for the 360 version, this announcement makes me a happy camper. I love Tomb Raider and really enjoyed the time I spent on getting the full 1000 Gamerscore for Tomb Raider Legend.

Hopefully we’ll get to see some media rolling out during E3 in July.
New GTA IV shots 2007-06-27 21:54:11 Earlier today Rockstar released two never before seen screen-shots
of GTA IV . I have to say, everything I’ve read and seen of GTA IV sounds great and this is coming from a gamer who couldn’t care less about the previous games in the series or the entire “thug” genre for that matter. Screen-shots after the jump.

First trailer from the Hitman movie 2007-06-27 02:42:34 We’ve seen photos from the set and a still from the movie
. Now it’s time for the first teaser trailer from the Hitman
movie:
I love it that they used the “Ellens dritter Gesang” music in the trailer. It doesn’t seem to be the same version as the last game had but it’s close enough and it immediately made me think of the game. Besides the music, pretty much everything else is straight from the game as well so to be honest, this teaser got me fairly hyped for the movie.
Could it be, are gamers finally getting a true-to-the-game movie ? Hopefully so. Just as long as there won’t be too many big explosions as this teaser suggests - this IS a movie about an assassin who’s silent in his ways, after all. Read more:First

Soul Calibur 4 will be online-enabled 2007-06-25 22:25:32 According to the August issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the next iteration of Bandai-Namco’s weapon fighter will be online
-enabled.
Previously it was though that the minute reactions required by fighting games would be impossible to deliver over current broadband networks. In fact, previous attempts in other online-enabled fighters such as the laggy online matches in DOA4 and the XBLA release of Street Fighter II Turbo pretty much prove the notion true.
Gamer’s will have a chance to see if Soul Calibur 4 can buck the trend when the game is released sometime in 2008.

The Darkness is a brightspot in this summer’s releases 2007-07-01 01:37:23
Historically, it seems publishers are content on releasing licensed properties and other “filler” titles to round out their financial profiles during the summer months. The heavy hitting titles, such as entries in the Halo or Final Fantasy series are usually released during or right before the all-important Christmas season.
Times seem to be a-changin’.More and more it appears that publisher’s are realizing gamers buy games all year round and the summer releases of big titles such as The Darkness
, Bioshock and Blue Dragon further lend some amount of credence to the notion.

First Civilization Revolution trailer 2007-06-28 14:02:11
Well well well, we didn’t have to wait until E3 to see some media from the newly announced Civilization

New Halo 3 screenshot 2007-07-05 15:22:35
There it is folks. The second in-game screenshot released thus far from Halo 3’s campaign mode.
It’s looking pretty darn good if you ask me. This screen-shot will hopefully put to rest all those “Halo 2.5″ comments. However, this trickle of information is just wrong for a game the will see its release in only a few months. I say stop the trite “viral” ads and bring on the full on ad assault. Hopefully, E3 will bring more news and footage of the game’s single player campaign.
Some goods from Area51 2007-07-05 10:04:27 Midway shot over a few new screens from BlackSite: Area51 as well as a trailer that is a part of their presence at E3 next week.
The screenshots feature Special Forces assassin Aeran Pierce, an Iraq war veteran, as he leads his Delta Force squad against a mysterious insurgency who have emerged from the concrete tombs of Area 51, thought to have been sealed off forever.
Oh, and if you haven’t already, be damn sure to download the demo off Marketplace to get a taste of this game. Although it’s just a very short teaser demo, it’s well worth the download. (more…) Read more:goods
Devil May Cry 4 Preview 2007-07-05 00:42:34
There is a great DMC 4 preview over at Next Gen. The article is a bit PS3-centric, but well written nonetheless.
I personally cannot wait for this game. I thought DMC3 was a blast and I welcome a return of the frantic action gameplay DMC is known for.

..to the PC. That’s right, despite the statements otherwise, Gears
of War is making its way over to the PC.
Apparently, the folks over at Gamevideos.com were a bit too trigger happy when they posted a Pre-E3 PC video of GOW earlier today. The video has been subsequently pulled. But, not before it was posted to Youtube.

Xbox360 takes Virtua Fighter 5 online 2007-07-06 11:58:44
SEGA announced today that the Xbox
360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 will have online
multiplayer functionality and sent over some screenshots as well.
A year or so ago the producer of the Virtua Fighter series, Hiroshi Kataoka, said that the VF series will never have online play because tests carried out specifically to evaluate online play proved to be unsatisfactory. Never say never I guess..
Gary Knight, SEGA Europe: “For a lot of very good reasons, Virtua Fighter 5 is regarded as the deepest and most revered fighting game available on next generation consoles. Bringing Virtua Fighter 5 to the Xbox 360 will not only capture an entirely new audience, but will allow gamers to show their Virtua Fighter skills online against friends and foes”. (more…)
A Nazi invasion of NYC 2007-07-06 06:47:08
Codemasters has released the first trailer for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty - the upcoming World War II alternate reality first person shooter, where America is not drawn into the war until the 1953 Nazi invasion of the U.S. east coast.
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty explores the consequences of what may happened if, after being struck by a cab in New York in 1931, Winston Churchill had died and wasn’t alive to rally the Allied forces and confront Nazi forces during WWII.
I have to say that while I’m really sick of WWII games, this one looks very promising.
E3: New Assassin’s Creed screens 2007-07-12 10:55:29 Here are some fresh screenshots from Ubisoft’s oh-so-highly anticipated Assassin
’s Creed
and I have to say, it looks better than ever.
The game seems to have lost its blue’ish overlay, which was very apparent in previous screenshots, and looks a lot more natural now. Like we learned last month, Assassin’s Creed will be released this November.
Here are some of the games features, check out the new screens below:
• Be an Assassin
Master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape.
• Realistic and responsive environments
Experience a living, breathing world in which all your actions have consequences. Crowds react to your moves and will either help or hinder you on your quests. (more…)
