2-in-1 Ranking tool
2007-03-03 05:41:00
Like to have a 2 in 1 ranking tool together that shows you both PageRank and Alexa Ranking ?PageRank is a link analysis algorithm which assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set.Alexa collects information from users who have installed an "Alexa Toolbar," allowing them to provide statistics on web site traffic, as well as lists of related links.Instead of having to download 2 different toolbars, one from Google and another from Alexa why not just get this 2-in-1 from SearchStatus.SearchStatus is a toolbar extension for Firefox and Mozilla that allows you to see how any and every website in the world is performing.----------Tags: pagerank, alexarank, ranking, searchstatus, firefox

Get your blog mentioned
2007-03-07 07:29:00
If you have written a good original article on your blog, run it by your friends and gather feedbacks from them. Ask them if it is something worth posting up to blog portals to share it with more readers. If the answer is a good yes, then by all means pull out your bookmarks of local or international weblog addresses and submit the article up. If the answer is probably some improvement needed, then work on it and very soon you can run by them again. The biggest advantage of doing so is you are going to drive big traffic to your blog! And along the way you may just get a few readers that come visit you again for your next article. So put on your thinking cap and write some good articles and let some friends read about them. Here in Singapore, there's this portal Tomorrow.sg that is one of the most popular site for submission of articles by local bloggers. From its site:Tomorrow.sg tries to bring together interesting blog posts and other Internet content about Singapore or by Singaporeans.

What the #$!%& is going on?
2007-03-15 03:47:00
Ever come across any blogs or websites that have very funny looking characters? For example, say my company website BAK2u.com has Copyrights for some of the anti-theft programs in 100 countries, so we gonna put that little © to indicate it.But to my horror when I was updating it with some information (yes, I run the website myself too for the minor stuffs but for major ones, the real designer steps in), I saw lotsa ???? question marks going around the pages. Oh my!Dont make the same mistake as I did and make a fool of yourself giving any hints that you are not familiar with HTML codes. Hee .. hee ..Drop by this site on the 'table of ascii characters' to use to represent symbols.http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm----------Tags: html, ascii, article, characters, symbols

Go for a marathon not a short run
2007-03-14 17:36:00
The thing about blogging and especially if you are looking to earn a few dollars from it, you must realize that it is a marathon and not those 100m dash.It requires a lot of stamina to continue writing, coming up with interesting articles, make changes to your blog to engage your readers often. A lot of brainstorming is needed to come out with a new entry that is meaningful and worth the while for others to read. Otherwise if it is a cut-and-paste job, it will dilute the value of your blog and others may just visit once and that's it.There is no fast rules on how to do it, I say just practice and practice and overtime the writing and its the content will improve.----------Tags: writing, content, article, experience, brainstorming

Get your readers involve to grow your blog.
2007-03-18 03:33:00
One of the smartest strategies deployed by some very successful bloggers is to get their readers involved in providing the contents, materials to the site which in turn let other readers read about them. How many blogs can you think of that use such strategy? There are a handful of these and they are doing extremely well with more and more readers spreading the word of mouths about it. It just grow and grow on its own. The initial phase of setting such a site up is not easy of cos but if you strike it good, all the hard work pays off. Some time last year, I helped in setting up from a personal blog to a more public blog where readers submit photos of those rude people to that site. And the owners will post it up. It also grow from just posting photos to discussions of their personal experience. Also, they are not charging high on the advertisements which in turn attracted some local advertisers too (including my company). RudeSingaporeans ----------Tags: readers, social, media, digg,

Knowing HTML Is Not Nearly Enough
2007-03-23 01:21:00
Came across this very useful article from EntireWeb, like to share with everyone here.Every web designer is familiar with the HTML programming language, which stands for Hypertext Markup Language. The language has been in use since the advent of cyberspace, and although it will probably always be used, it is already being supplemented by newer, more versatile versions of HTML.The Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML) is a family of current and future document types and modules that reproduce, subset, and extend HTML, reformulated in XML. XHTML family document types are all XML-based, and ultimately are designed to work in conjunction with XML-based user agents.Unlike HTML, which focuses on describing how data or text is supposed to be displayed, The XML language instead describes what the data is. So, XML is not something that is apparent on a web page, because it does not actually tell your browser how to display the data.As information and data presented on the world wide web

Can you really really make money from blogging?
2007-03-28 07:41:00
The answer is yes. But the amount will depend largely on the effort and time that you are willing to invest in. You dont expect to put in minimum effort and time to get maximum profit right? The internet may have tools to aid you but that doesnt mean it can replace genuine effort and time into it too. Be real about the expectations. Effort: The amount of work needed in running a good blog takes more than just writing original content (the emphasis here i your own content), but also the need to consistently decorate your blog repositioning your ads, banners, links and test out what works and what dont. This is a lot a lot of work. Becos if you do not have much marketing experience be it offline or online, you will need to go thru some learning curves. For example, if you are targeting female readers to purchase your accessories then perhaps a website or a blog with some light pastel colors and designs that blend well with your products than to have something too dark and make your produc

2007-04-03 05:41:00
The Blog Herald , launched in March 2003 and dealing with the blogosphere, has just been sold with private auctions at $72,000. The author, Duncan Railay, posted an entry few days ago saying that he wanted to sell one of his blog, without telling the one it was. This sale can make us wondering about the selling value of a blog. For your information, The Blog Herald is the 151st in the Feedster’s Top 500, and the 180th in Technorati’s Top. If you convert it into monthly revenues from the launching of the site, you have $2,000 monthly revenue for the last 35 months.Source: http://www.bloglikeapro.com/

Blog Poisoning
2007-04-24 08:48:00
You know you are so deeply poisoned when;- you gonna take photos of every freaking plates of food before you place them in your mouth, so that you can post it at your blog.- you are not able to make any decision, you have to post it at your blog to ask for opinion. Red or black underwear.- at bloggers gathering, you dont wanna stay too late so that you can rush home to blog about it. How cool is that?- after each gathering, you will blog about it so many times that even Martians know about it.- your love ones know you more through your blog than in the real world.- you spend more time decorating your blog than you out under the sun. Geek.- ping.sg is your homepage to see if any of your entries are in the Top 10.- you open a standby page on http://ping.sg/myblogs, so that you can 'Update Now' it immediately after you post your latest entry. - you click that Ping.sg button 'Update Now' more than you click any hyperlinks, combined.- you know fellow bloggers by their nicks or their web

Search Engine Optimization And Search Marketing For Start Ups
2007-04-25 03:09:00
Startup Companies often have big dreams and a small budget. Using pay per click (PPC) advertising like Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing , and MSN adCenter alone to draw traffic may not be financially feasible.A successful startup should opt for a more balanced, frugal approach to getting traffic to their landing pages; one which incorporates generic search result traffic. Using a blend of limited PPC advertising and content optimization can yield the best return on an SEO investment.Strategy One for Startup Companies: Split Tests & Pay Per ClickWhenever you conduct a pay per click campaign you should always run split tests to see which ads are most effective. An A - B split test is the most simple, and practical method. Simply create two ads for the same keywords and run both ads in conjunction. Which ever ad has a higher score, try and determine why. Discontinue the less successful ad and create another ad and accentuate the features of the better selling ad. Iterate this split

Recently in PayPerPost , there was a 'huge' buzz going around with this company paying US$25.00 for a review on free security zip software, SecureZip."SecureZIP sets the standard for desktop data security. It is the best solution for protecting email messages and attachments, as well as data stored on hard-drives, laptops, and portable media. SecureZIP is a true security application, providing file level security that is as strong as any security application in the world, while it continues to leverage all of the benefits that come with compression.LinkMany that saw this review put up as an 'Open Opportunities' couldnt believe their eyes as it quite a considerable amount to do a review that do not require a lot from the bloggers.Very quickly the words spread like wildfire and many jumped on the opportunity to review the software.

How to get yourself ban by Google Adsense?
2007-05-08 21:58:00
Do not think that you can outsmart Google by going around different Wifi networks, clicking your own adsense advertisements to earn some money. Google is not that stupid to let anyone do that so easily and it has its way to catch you through the IP address, the laptop that you used to do so. And one of the biggest most common mistake committed by others is when you go around clicking those advertisements and then forgets about it and log into your own google mail or adsense account to check the amount you earned!Yes, many are caught in such manner cos when you used the same laptop to click the advertisement, Google may assumed that you are just like any surfers that see values in the advertisements therefore you clicked it. But when you go back to the same crime scene and logged in to check your google account, one plus one .. it isnt that difficult afterall right?

$100 Million Payday For Feedburner by Google
2007-05-23 21:39:00
Rumors about Google acquiring RSS management company Feedburner from last week, started by ex-TechCrunch UK editor Sam Sethi, are accurate and are now confirmed according to a source close to the deal. Feedburner is in the closing stages of being acquired by Google for around $100 million. The deal is all cash and mostly upfront, according to our source, although the founders will be locked in for a couple of years. The information we have is that the deal is now under a binding term sheet and will close in 2-3 weeks, and there is nothing that can really derail it at this point.Huge congratulations to Feedburner. The company was founded in 2003 and has raised just $10 million in capital over two rounds. Portage Ventures funded their $1 million Series A round in 2004. The $9 million Series B round was closed in mid 2005 (second close in 2006), from Mobius Venture Capital and Union Square Ventures.Source: Techcrunch

2007-05-29 22:50:00
New services help consumers keep track of their gadgets POSTED: 1:34 a.m. EDT, May 29, 2007Steve MollmanFor CNN (CNN) -- When Chua Si Zhen accidentally left behind her cell phone at a cafe, it wasn't the handset she was worried about losing. "It was the contacts, and the little info that I have in there, like my photos and everything," says the Singaporean.Luckily a man did return her Nokia N70 handset within an hour -- but only after he tried to steal it first. When the thief inserted his own SIM card into her phone, that triggered software she'd installed on the handset. The program texted her family members with his phone number and other data that could be taken to the police. The thief, informed of these details by Chua's angry husband -- over his "new" phone -- agreed to meet and return the handset. The program that Chua used is called PhoneBak, and the Singapore startup behind it, Bak2u (www.bak2u.com), is one of many companies capitalizing on a trend: ever more people

Also, uploading the images through the image tool is proving very difficult for many too during the peak hours.Unless the folks decided to do more in handling the loads, more will be migrating over to Wordpress or other providers very soon.

EntireWeb: 11 Tips for Pay-Per-Click Success
2007-06-05 10:00:00
This list details some very important points to keep in mind when creating or managing any pay-per-click campaign. Is this all there is to know about pay-per-click advertising? Absolutely not, but for those new to PPC it should serve as good place to start. Additionally, pay-per-click veterans or at least the moderately-seasoned will want to touch upon these points now and then to brush up on their fundamentals. 1) Do your keyword homework. Use Google's free Keyword Tool or sign up for a WordTracker account to find out which keywords are the most competitive. The more competitive the keyword, the more expensive your clicks will be. While you're finding out which keywords are too expensive you'll come across some that aren't being targeted heavily by advertisers. Take a good look at these - they may be your keys to a successful niche campaign.2) Don't bunch your ad groups. You should be striving to separate your ad groups by keyword. Whatever your target, separate your keyword list
