Make Money Online with Dclick Ads
2007-08-03 12:11:46
Dclick ads is a service for buying and selling ad space on websites and blogs. There are a range of different ad types you can buy and sell: Classic Banner Ads Standard Text Links embedded links in the site content Publishers of the ads are allowed to set their own prices per week/month or CPC (cost per click). All ads are directly linked to the site and not redirected, so when your buying the links through them you know its also helping your SEO. They also offer a xml ad (what this means I’m not too sure, but apparently means there is no downtime or delayed page loads!) . You get paid by cheque every 30 days and there is a service charge of 25% (hey thats 25% less than TLA!) There are some top websites using this service as I can see like monster.com so if its good enough for them its good enough for me! Dclick ads if you liked this post, buy me a beer

Missing Posts!?!
2007-08-02 12:32:32
I am running wordpress 2.2 and I updated my post last night and this morning I looked at the site and about 10 posts were missing!? fortunately I backed up my posts on 29/07 so I managed to get some of them back with comments but the others as you can had to be reposted. I’ve learnt from my lesson and will be backing up everyday. For those of you who don’t know how to back up your posts you can do it through your admin panel the go to manage > export. Has anyone else had this issue? if you liked this post, buy me a beer

Make Money Online Selling Text Links
2007-08-02 12:22:02
A While back I wrote a post about selling and buying links through TextLinkAds. I’ve been waiting a while and they still haven’t accepted me into their program even after I emailed them asking how long it would take with no response! I’ve come across a plugin that allows bloggers to sell their own text links. So you get paid instantly and pay no commissions. I have heard criticism off a lot of people about this sort of plugins because they advise you won’t get the same sort of promotion as you would with textlinkads, but this plugin has its own marketplace so possible advertisers will be able to see that your selling links. I haven’t actually used this plugin myself but I would be interested to know if any of my readers have or are doing so they could let me know their opinion. As if TextLinkAds don’t accept me soon I think I will have to go elsewhere. if you liked this post, buy me a beer

This blog is written by a fellow UKer Kieron who seems to have quite a number of sites and projects. 7 Top Tips on How to Find Readers For Your Blog
2007-08-02 12:18:05
Last week I did 6 tips when starting a new blog but I didn’t include how to find readers for your blog… So you’ve got your blog online and you written a few articles, next is the hard bit.. getting people to read your blog. I’ve put together 7 tips in order to get more readers on your blogs. Remember there is no quick fix to get readers, it takes time, so be patient when doing your blog promotion. 1. Good relevant content keep your content relevant and useful to the reader. Have original content don’t just copy and paste off someone else’s blog. 2. Link to other blogs Don’t link to any old blog, link to good quality posts that will be informative to your reader. By doing this you will get the attention of the other blog writer as they can see incoming links from technorati, this will incentivize them to visit your blog. An easy way to link to other blogs is to do a speedlinking post or if you have a list of blogs you visit regular you could put them in your blogroll and

Is AGLOCO ever going to payout?
2007-08-11 10:21:24
I joined up to AGLOCO under John Chow and really I haven’t promoted it very much other than under my ‘Make Money’ page. After several months of hearing nothing in terms of payout I’ve uninstalled the toolbar because for one its annoying when I boot up my pc and also because I’m not sure AGLOCO is ever going to payout and exactly how much they will do if i continue with it. I would rather just uninstall the toolbar so it doesn’t popup when I bootup (yes I know I can probably change the settings so it doesn’t). I just wanna see what you guys think about it? if you liked this post, buy me a beer

Some good Posts to Read - SpeedLinking #3

For my regular readers I apologize for not posting the last few days, I’ve been a bit busy with my job! (debt collector! someones got to do it!) 45n5 been reading this guys blog for about 2 weeks now and he’s absolutely mad a real character I think thats why I like him so much. He’s not scared to give an opinion and he shows it in this post. He’s been participating in ‘the thirty day challenge’ and he really slates it. Brilliant! Here.org.uk this is truly a great blog for affiliate marketing. This post shows the top 8 questions Kieron gets from people starting out in affiliate marketing. some good tips here. ProBlogger Darren from problogger summarizes some key points from some top blog posts. Showing even if you blog isn’t getting a load of traffic yo

What is RSS ?
2007-08-09 14:51:25
OK your new to blogs, you hear this word RSS all the time but your not quite sure what the f*ck it is so you look it up on google… and you find out it stands for “Really Simple Syndication”, but what does that mean ? Ok I’m gonna put it really simple because I know you can’t really be bothered to read a load of jargon etc on the subject. RSS is when you subscribe to some ones website feed, which means you get automatically updated with the content on that site. There are 2 ways to subscribe to a feed one of them being giving your email address to receive auto updates via email. Or you can save the blog or sites feed to a feed reader… Ok Marc but what’s a feed reader ? Its a program that lets you read all your feeds easily. There are plenty of these about, do a search on google and you will come across http://www.feedreader.com/download this is the first one I downloaded and I’ve stuck with it ever since. It makes it a lot easier to view

Get backlinks easily with a Wordpress Plugin!
2007-08-14 07:30:55
If you haven’t already noticed there is a new edition to the sidebar on my blog. The wordpress plugin is called WP-backlinks . This plugin helps you get reciprocal backlinks to your blog. As I’ve mentioned before reciprocal link backs are a great way to help your SEO for your site or blog. The plugin installation is so quick and easy it takes about 2 minutes! Once installed it shows a widget on your blog sidebar which webmasters can submit a link request. The script then checks to make sure the URL entered contains a link to your site and if it does adds the link to your site. WP-Backlinks doesn’t show the same link on each page so if you have 100 pages @ 4 links per page thats a possible 400 link backs! As mentioned in yesterdays post with the page rank update happening soon this could be a really could plugin to start using! if you liked this post, buy me a beer

How to find good FREE Directories
2007-08-13 11:42:49
Since the hack of my directory I have been unable to and also couldn’t bothered sorting out my directory site. So when I came accross 45n5’s new script to ‘build a mini site in less than 10 mins’ I had to give it a go! I used the old directory domain to test the script and setup my FREE directory list site. Basically this site I’ve created is just a list of all the free directories I come across. This will make it easier for you guys when adding to directories to increase your backlinks. If you dont know what I am talking about please check out my earlier post. As it is rumored that there will be a page rank update soon this should be useful to a lot of people! if you liked this post, buy me a beer

As Technorati is coming up to its 100 millionth blog, many of these blogs don’t last past their 3rd month maybe its because they don’t know about the services of blogLOUDER? 9 Top Tips to Keep Motivated
2007-08-15 14:12:56
If you’ve started a new blog or project and its not going as well as you would like do not worry help is at hand with this post for some motivation! 1. Download and listen to ‘The O’Jays - For the love of money’ For some reason this song motivates me and makes me want to make money! also is a pretty good classic tune! 2. Have a Major Goal Set yourself a major goal you would like to achieve with your blog or site. This will give you focus on what you are trying to achieve with all the hard work and effort you are putting into your project. For example my goal for this blog is to make and continue to make $1,000/month. 3. Break up the major goal into smaller goals If you are constantly concentrating on your major goal you can often get down hearted about not hitting your target straight away. Instead set your self small goals on a monthly or weekly basis. For example this month I set myself a goal to double my traffic to my blog from last month and so far I a

Does RSS readership matter if you are still getting regular traffic?
2007-08-21 15:53:55
Many programs such as ReviewMe count RSS Readership as something to rate your blog, but ask this question what would you rather advertise on a blog with 50 uniques a day with 200 RSS readers or a blog with 150 uniques a day with 25 RSS readers ? I know which one I would rather advertise on. Just because a blog has more RSS readers than another does not mean it has more readers, because some people like to visit blogs from bookmarks rather than reading from RSS. The reason why I am writing this post is because my traffic to this blog has been going up up and up, but my RSS readership has started to increase and now started to decrease. This started to de-motivate me slightly but then I asked myself the question Does RSS readership matter if you are still getting regular traffic? I know what you’re thinking now you should read the ‘Why does my Feedburner Subscriber Count Fluctuate?‘ post by problogger. I have read it! So I’ve come to conclusion that RSS stats are

Make Money Online with AffiliateFuture.com
2007-08-20 07:20:12
I did a post back at the start of this blog about an affiliate company called tradedoubler, which is a very good site for affiliate marketing but one of the draw backs from the site is the fact that you have to wait for the company or tradedoubler to approve your site for the program you are applying to. This isn’t the case with AffiliateFuture.com as soon as you sign up you can get started making money because as I said you don’t need to wait to be accepted! Another advantage of the site is that its not just for the UK or one particular country its for US, UK and the EU. From my experience with the site I would say there are a lot of programs available with affiliate future that you wouldn’t get from other affiliate sites (I am a member of many and you often see the same programs in each site, this is not the case with affiliate future.). One thing I don’t like about the site is the stats page, its very basic, but who wants to look at stats all the time when y

There seems to be a lot of posts about blog design recently, I think its down to both John Chow and Problogger both getting re-designs recently. I will keep Adnans post bookmarked for when I co

Want to Make a Static Content Site without HTML Knowledge ?
2007-08-29 16:53:55
Previously I have been writing about how to increase your income with having other projects other than just your blog. Obviously not everyone knows HTML or knows how to build a website. So I’ve got some help for those of you that don’t know how to build a site. 19pages This is a very simple script that lets build a site with up 19pages (as the name suggests!) . An example of a 19pages.com site is here my free directory list. One of the main advantages of this script is the fact that it doesn’t need a MySQL database, so if you are limited to the number of SQL databases on your host, this is of great advantage. You will need a modern day server that runs PHP 5 and can use .htaccess files (ask you host if you are unsure). Joomla This script is a lot more complex that 19 pages and can be used to make a great website. There are lots of templates available for this script. The script is free and you can find free templates as well as paid templates quite easily with a sea

Waiting to be accepted for Text Link Ads?
2007-08-28 14:15:30
I’ve just been accepted into the Text Link Ads program. For those of you who don’t know what TLA is I have written a previous post about it here: Make Money Online with Text Link Ads. I pretty much signed up for the program as soon as I started blogging because I knew it was something I wanted to take advantage of. I took the advice of Derek back in June and emailed through asking for my site to be accepted, but I didn’t get a response. I don’t blame them for not responding because at that time this blog was brand new and had really poor stats even worse than now! haha. I decided to retry this method of emailing the company to try and get my blog accepted into the program and I had quite a shock when I got a response back saying I have been accepted! So you can now see the Featured Links section in the sidebar which you buy one for $15/month with 8 spaces available, I have a possibility of making $60/month from selling text links on my blog! This is taking into

Will blogging make you enough money ?
2007-08-27 12:33:24
Can blogging make you enough money? We all know the answer to this, yes blogging can make you substantial amount of money and we know this from blogs like TechCrunch, John Chow and ProBlogger. They are all making $10k+ per month just from blogging. But in reality those blogs are a minority most of us will not see the $10k+ per month just from blogging. So will blogging make you enough money? When I say enough money I mean so you can eventually quit your job. My answer to this is no, blogging alone will not make you enough money to quit your job… unless some how you get lucky for example John Chow and Pro Blogger both decide to review your blog for free and you get tons of traffic for your blog. Or you pay out a lot of money on promoting your blog with reviews, paid links and banners. However you can get a decent amount of money through your blog which WILL increase over time. In my opinion it pays to have several other projects at the same time as your blog. Say you need $2,000

Submit your site to 22 Social Bookmarking sites in 1 click!
2007-09-02 05:18:59
I’ve been using a tool called onlywire to submit my posts/sites to 22 different social bookmarking sites in one click! This has proven a really good time saving tool. The 22 social bookmarking sites are: Backflip Bibsonomy Blinklist Blogmemes Blue Dot de.lirio.us del.icio.us Diigo Excites Furl linkatopia Linkroll Looklater ma.gnolia Markaboo Rawsugar Shadows Simpy Spurl unalog Wink xilinus So all you need to do to is sign up to only wire and provide them with your username and password for each site. Obviously you won’t be signed up to each of those sites already so you need to sign up to each one which may take sometime but overall this tool will save you time. Tip: Use a real email address because some of the social bookmarking site require email validation. Once you have completed that you get a button on your firefox like this: This then creates a frame above the site were you can put the details for the submission! if you liked this post, buy me a beer

5 Top Tips for Beating Writers or Blogger Block
2007-09-25 11:50:36
Since my move to Sheffield I’ve started to find it hard to write my posts, I don’t know why this is but I’ve been looking into ways in order to beat the dreaded writers block. 1) Take a Break Get away from your computer. I find that if I am at my computer too often I can’t concentrate on writing a post, if I get away from the computer, take a walk with fresh air or go the pub and have a beer. When I come back I feel refreshed and ready to write. 2) Write Your Headline First. By writing about the headline first you know what you will be writing about. A good idea is to think of as many headlines you can think of and put them in a document. That way when you get stuck with writers block you can go back to that document. Spend a good amount of time on this because the headline is the first thing a potential reader sees. For some tips on how to write a good headline check out copybloggers post 3) Capture Your Ideas I often think of ideas at the most awkward times

Forget Digg! You don’t need 2000+ votes on Sphinn!
2007-09-23 07:30:31
I got banned from digg for doing exchanges on the Digital Point Forums, let that be a lesson to you all! if your even arsed if you get banned, because basically I’m not because you had to get about 2000+ votes to get on page 1! Obviously getting that amount of digg those persons are more than likely using a digg voter ring anyway. Enough about that…. Sphinn is a new network like digg I have been using and what I have seen so far is great. You only need about 20+ votes to get on page one and most of the sphinn users are bloggers, so when you get a vote from sphinn you potentially get a new reader as bloggers are more likely to add your blog to their rss reader in my opinion. I know what your thinking “I won’t get the same amount of traffic from sphinn as I will from digg” Well you have to think about the quality of the traffic you will get from sphinn rather than digg as like I said most of the users are bloggers. I think I’ve had more traffic fro
