2006-10-12 07:36:00
I put up a long overdue new playlist on my myspace profile. Here it is...I've got a lot of music. I mean a WHOLE lot...I'm thinking of starting a weekly mini-mix instead of posting single songs all the time. There's also some hardcore stuff at the end. Some Agnostic Front, Leeway. I love hardcore music...but I don't post a lot on this blog. Maybe I'll start more of that too. To dl the songs just

Pitbull Compares Che to Hitler, Wishes Castro Dead
2006-09-26 10:04:29
hooray forscarface! but not castro I don't know much about Cuban politics or the history of the Castro regime in Cuba, but I do know that a lot of people I trust have good things to say about Castro. Whatever the deal with the half dead dictator, I don't think Castro's"atrocities" are any where near the scope of Hitler 's! Apparently Pitbull thinks different. On July 31, President of Cuba, Fidel

Video: Cutty Ranks - Living Condition
2006-09-17 12:25:00
This is a blast from the past...Cutty Ranks is one of my fav dancehall DJs. I saw him in DC like ten years ago, and he had that same tight lipped look...like he's trying to hold his teeth in or something. But he's the man! When I find more of his videos I'll post them.I'm still not clear on the use of the women in this video cuz the song is pretty "concious" but...that's actually common now that I

Loose Joints: Get High. Or Not.
2006-08-30 11:25:00
Here's some songs I have in my current playlist...that I noticed have to do with smoking herb, or not. So I decided to put them together in this mini-playlist.z-ro, my heroTwo of the songs are from one of my favorite emcees, Z-Ro, from the relatively hard to find album Z-Ro & Friends (Slowed n Chopped). "Roll By" and "Slow Lights" aren't really about smoking but I just threw them in cuz they feel

Is This Tupac in This 2006 Video?
2006-08-30 10:29:00
Here's a video of someone who looks very much like Pac from afar but I doubt if it's him even though some people are still keeping hope alive that Tupac is still with us.And these cats discuss the 7 Day Theory, which to some fans explains precisely why Tupac is still alive. The 7 Day Theory vid contains an autopsy photo of Tupac, which I opted not to show in this post because of the Anti-Tupac

Dead Prez Fans Want Apology For Bad Show
2006-08-26 12:08:00
This guy is pretty fuckin peeved that he and a bunch of friends went to a Dead Prez show recently (I think it was a Project Blowed but don't quote me) only to have DP perform like two songs and step. On DP's side, they say that the promoters of the show f-ed the time situation up, but the fans in that board are pissed anyway because no one apologized or has given money back (as of this printing)

2006-08-16 11:56:00
Here's some video I shot of some b-boys at the 2006 NHHPC. There's not that many people in the audience in this video because a lot of people where still in panels, but later that night there was another b-boy session and it was packed! I couldn't tape that session because my damn batteries died and I was really pissed. This video is split in two because of said batteries. Urghhh... I love filming

Article About the National Political Hip Hop Convention Published on HipHopDX
2006-08-16 11:41:18
I wrote an article about the recent National Political Hip Hop convention for HipHopDX.com. It was in Chicago, IL from July 20-23, 2006. I had a great time in Chicago and can't wait until NHHPC '08! Currently I'm working on organizing the Triad, North Carolina Local Organizing Committee for the NHHPC. I think this is possibly the biggest and most unified movement of (mostly) Black folks working

Bitches 'n Niggas 'n Nappy Dugouts. And Oprah.
2006-07-08 08:11:00
People get all riled up over the words "nigga" and "bitch", especially the way they are used in Hip-Hop. Although I rarely use either word, sometimes words like that do serve a purpose. Not every woman is a saint or "Queen"! Bitches exist! Not every man is fit to be called "brother", or even "King" -- a term which, like "Queen" is used more in Blackcentric communities like the Rastas and Five

Ray Cash Speaks of Racial Tension in Ohio, Voting and More in Interview

I like Ray Cash. He's doing his thing. In this interview with BallerStatus.net he talks about working with Scarface, racial tensions in Ohio , voting and more. Here's a track called Bumpin My Music, which appears on the new Ray Cash album Cash On Delivery, but this *not* the album version but a remixed version from DJ Dutty Laundry's "Interstate Heavyweights" mixtape. I'll post a full review when I'm done giving it the once over, nice and thorough like. The 2006 National Political Hip Hop Convention Trailer
2006-12-30 07:44:00
I'm not sure how much longer the site this video is posted on (the 2006 NHHPC site) will be up, so I decided to post this trailer for the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention here. This video is narrated by famous Chicagoan Sam Greenlee, author of The Spook Who Sat By The Door, and directed by up and coming music video producer/director Mark F. Armstrong.I took some pictures with the sprightly Mr. Greenlee that I'll post soon as I scan them. I also have some pictures of the area around my friend Amina's house, and some other pictures from the convention that I'll post ASAP. Amina is a wonderfully talented poet and emcee.I stayed at her house for two days, and at my friend La'Keisha's house for one day. La'Keisha is a very talented writer and blogger. And come to think of it, my friend Candy Minx also lives in Chicago, and is one of the most wonderful and gregarious people I've "met" online. Must be something in the water up there!I just love Chicago! It's the most beautif

If You're Ever In Malawi, Make Sure You Stop By Niggers Clothing Store!
2006-12-31 12:10:00
And tell 'em I said "Wattup, my niggas!" LOL. I hate how that word has become inseparable from Hip Hop. Nigger, nigga, nigguh, and all it's different forms - I think it's all the same. And while I may listen to the occasional song that contains the word, the unintelligent usage of it in the gen pop is really outta control right now. Casual usage of it by Whites is especially skull

My James Brown Tribute and Playlist
2007-01-02 07:52:00
photo from james-brown.net The songs in this playlist don't even begin to pay tribute to James Brown 's legacy. If I put all the hits this man either made himself, produced or influenced...there's not enough space on Blogger for that. When I found out James Brown died, I was in shock. I cried. I drank. Top Chef didn't disappoint tonight! I've been waiting for this show to come back on since the Cliff throwing Mia under the bus episode. Damn you Cliff! How I Feel About the Word "Nigger" in Hip Hop And Black Culture. Oh, and Kramer Too.
2007-01-12 07:12:00
I recently had the chance to talk to B. Sims Ph. D over at OnPoint.FM on his show "Production" about the word "nigger". This interview happened on the heels of Michael "Kramer " Richard's racist "nigger" rant. And here's my response to his use of the word "nigger" and some other thoughts on how the word is used in Black culture. You may have to click "play" twice to start the interview. You
