Racist Attack of Black Woman in Pittsburgh

Pennsylvania's out of control. My sympathies go out Pittsburgh 's Angel Wilson, who on Sunday October 8th, 2006 at about 12:45 am, was at a convenience store with her 9-year-old son when, in her words: "A large white man with tattoos and a bald head approched my car. He started yelling "Fucking Nigger" and I began to put my car window up, when he grabbed the window and yanked it back and forth until it shattered. He yelled obsenities at me and then got back in his truck and pulled off. There was a white lady with a Harley Davidson hat on with him who was also yelling "Nigger"and laughing. I got his plate number. He was driving a white pick up truck, and was wearing tight jeans with 2 chains hanging from them and a tight dirty white t-shirt. He had a short beard and mustache, with a bald head. The only one in the car with me was my 9 year old son. I called the police to file a report." The death of five year old Casha'e Rivers makes me wonder how many White/Asian/etc. children are killed by gun violence in this same way. I saw this story right after it happened, almost a month ago, but I've been a little tied up lately doing some...let's say grassroots type organizing here in North Carolina. Recently I had no audio on my pc. Clicked on the volume icon and got the message "There are no active mixer devices available." I was like what!?!? I looked it up on the net and found the answer...then I had the same thing happen again today but could not find the website where I found the answer...so anyway this is what I remembered to do:All you have to do - at least in my case - is go to Start > Run > Type in [Services.msc] (minus the brackets) then scroll down the list until you get to 'Windows Audio'. Under 'Startup type' make sure it says 'Automatic' and under 'Service status' make sure it says 'Started'. If it does not say 'Started' just press 'Start' and it should turn your audio back on.windows, windoze, audio, no sound, windows help, computer, sound

I got back from Chicago a while ago but haven't made time to post some of the many, many pictures I took during my trip. I took so many pics I have to divide my Chicago pictures into sections, with this part -- part one -- covering my adventures going to Chicago. Well it wasn't that adventurous - not the going part. That was pretty boring as far as riding the Greyhound goes, and I slept for a lot of the 20 something hour ride.outside the Dayton bus stationI left North Carolina headed for Chicago with two transfers - one in Columbus, Ohio and another in Indianapolis, Indiana. Man it's been a rough month! I'm tired. Like 3, 4 hours a day of sleep tired. Plus...my neighbor who has eight kids has been ugh...especially needy lately, and I've been taking time out just about every other day to help her with something...I hate to say no to people but damn, why have so many kids if you can't take care of them?So what have I been doing? Well...working on two books, filling out a grant proposal (and about to start on another one), shopping for school clothes for my children, organizing a group of activist minded hip hoppers in North Carolina for the NHHPC, tweaking/updating my hip hop, poetry and activism events newsletter, doing research/writing six stories for various publications online and off, and oh...working like 50 hours a week at my j.o.b. Phew!I'm gonna squeeze in some time to blog soon - promise. :)blogging
