Is Triple H The Man In Charge?
2007-06-07 07:38:00
Rumours have been circulating lately that Edge was moved from Raw to Smackdown for reasons other than the injuries suffered by The Undertaker and Mr. Kennedy. The reason, so goes the rumour, is that with his ever imminent return to action due Triple H made it clear to WWE management that he didn't believe Edge was a big enough star to be battling with Triple H.In most cases you would argue this was just over imaginative fans making a story out of nothing but given the murky past of Triple H and his sabotaging of other wrestlers pushes up the ladder can we be so quick to dismiss it?When Triple H returned in the Autumn of 2005 after taking time out it was expected he would return on fire and as a fan favorite to freshen up his character and this seemed to be the case, until just two weeks in he was back to the same old heel character he'd played for years.Meanwhile at the same time Edge was making waves and, apart from Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle, Edge had become the stand out perfor

Must See Match #1

Bret "The Hitman" Hart v Owen HartWrestlemania 10Wrestlemania 10 will go down in history as one of the greatest pay per views in wrestling history as not only was it where the amazing ladder match between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon took place but also this technical masterclass between brothers Bret and Owen Hart. The feud had being gradually growing for since the 1993 Survivor Series and was based around Owen Hart's jealousy towards his more successful older brother. Bret Hart finally gave into his siblings challenge to a one on one match up shortly after they lost a tag team title match at the Royal Rumble.Owen Hart started the match the better working away on Bret Harts previously injured leg but Bret turned the tide hitting Owen with several high impact moves including a piledriver but to no avail as Owen found the reserves to keep fighting. The end came when Bret attempted a victory roll but Owen cleverly counterd with a pinning combination to which Bret couldn't escape. Owen

John Cena - Future Legend?
2007-06-04 14:23:00
What is it about John Cena that has made him such a topic of discussion amongst wrestling fans. His fans claim John Cena is the new Rock or Steve Austin but those that despise him feel he is at the top of the pile in WWE solely because he sells merchandise in another wise poor current roster. I believe both are right in their own way. There is no doubt John Cena has been rushed to the top by WWE, he was moved up way ahead of his time and one of the reasons for his quick push is his power to sell merchandise. John Cena is currently one of only a few WWE superstars who are fantastic on the microphone that plus his great look and given WWE's leaning towards the story telling approach to wrestling it was easy to tell from the moment he entered WWE that John Cena was going to be a big star in the future, but that future came too soon.Unlike some would have you believe John Cena is far from the worst wrestler of all time to hold the world title, he's certainly no worse than the likes of Psy

Fantasy Bout#1 Kurt Angle v Bret Hart
2007-06-04 14:22:00
What would be the out come if two of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time would have met in the squared circle? There can be little doubt in anyones mind that we would have been witness to an absolute classic. The two men have participated in some of the greatest bouts of the modern era of wrestling and would have brought out the best in one another. I believe the match would have started slowly with both men trying to figure one another out but Kurt would eventually get the upperhand in the early going working on Bret's leg with a number of submission moves. Bret would however come close to a quick victory with Kurt almost caught out with an inside cradle, despite this Kurt would continue to dominate and almost claim victory himself with a viscous german suplex and massive belly to belly suplex.Bret would however start to turn the contest around and get near falls from a bulldog, a piledriver and a superplex but when attempting a russian leg sweep Kurt would counter and turn i

TNA Wrestling- Self Destruction
2007-06-10 08:56:00
TNA wrestling fans must be wondering what the hell is going on. Just 9 months ago they where putting on the best wrestling PPV every month and one of the worlds greatest wrestlers of all time had just joined its ranks. Now 9 month later they've managed four terrible PPV's in a row and several of its stars are losing faith in the company, just like its fans.So have TNA wrestlings management just had a blip or is there more to it. In my opinion it can all be summed up in just two words- VINCE RUSSO!Many fans of the old WCW still hold Eric Bischoff to blame for the ultimate demise of their favorite wrestling brand, but this is unfair. Bischoff was given an open checkbook to sign who he wanted and he did just that. Did he buy guys who weren't up to the job of making WCW number 1? Hell no, Bischoff got the guys to make WCW the best and they did, it's hardly his fault he spent too much afterall he was told to spend whatever it took.WCW became a fantastic company under Bischoff putting on

Great Tag Teams Of The Past Part 1
2007-06-09 08:36:00
Ask new fans of wrestling about the tag team division and they'll either tell you how much the Hardy's rule or that the tag division is just a card filler for newcomers to learn the trade or the oldies to end their careers with a little success. But the tag team divisions haven't always been like this. For every decent tag team now there seems to be at least five useless tandems. Kendrick and London are the perfect example, look at the teams WWE have created over the last year or so and you'd think they where deliberately trying to make London and Kendrick pull their hairs out at the lack of talent they where up against. Want me to prove my point then I'll give you one word, Gemini.Wrestling however used to be packed with great tag teams from the 80's through to recent times with The Hardy's, Dudleys, and Edge and Christian. There where always three or four great tandems. Here in part 1 are the first three great tag teams of the past. The Brain BustersArn Anderson and Tully Blanch

The Best Wrestling Gimmicks Of All Time Part 1
2007-06-08 06:19:00
Wrestling has changed a fair bit over the years but one thing that hasn't changed is that a useless wrestler can be turned into a superstar if he has a great gimmick. There is a difference between a gimmick and a character, Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan where great characters but there appearance was pretty much as they would appear anyway. Not all superstars with a gimmick are useless wrestlers but the gimmick certainly won't have harmed their career. Glen Jacobs, or Kane as he is better known, is the perfect example. He tried numerous gimmicks, such as Icaac Yankem, but to no avail however since Kane's creation Jacobs has never looked back, becoming a superstar and even starring in his own movie. Would he have achieved this without a great gimmick? I very much doubt it.So which gimmicks have been the best over the years? Here are a few of wrestlings greatest gimmicks-The UndertakerWithout question the most recognizable and successful gimmick of all time. Mark Calloway had struggled to

Vince McMahon - Controversy personified
2007-06-13 16:40:00
On June 11, 2007, WWE aired a segment at the end of RAW that featured Vince McMahon entering a limousine moments before it exploded. The show went off-air shortly after, and WWE.com reported the angle as though it were a legitimate occurrence, proclaiming that McMahon was "presumed dead". Although this was the fate of the fictional Vince McMahon character, no harm came to the actual person (that is, his death was part of a storyline). With this being a seemingly obvious storyline why have so many fallen victim. Plenty of news agencies across America believed the story was actually real when it first occurred and even veteran fans have questioned whether the death was real or not.WWE will certainly face a backlash for this stunt, from the authorities if nothing else, but controversy sells and Vince McMahon may well have pulled off a marketing masterstroke. The controversy itself won't upset Vince McMahon as he's used to it.Back in the 1980's Vince McMahon was accused of sexual harass
