Go GREEEN!
2006-07-22 01:46:23
Remember when I said that the only thing really holding back the burgeoning industry to replace the piston engine was design, speed, and the ability to haul heavy loads?Well here's a manufacturer that's addressing design and speed.  They're releasing the Tesla roadster beginning in 2007.  Right now it's $85k, but give it a few years….

Iraq Solution du Jour
2006-06-24 21:23:56
As you all know, I was gullible enough to believe that Bush/Rove/Cheney wouldn't lie in order to start a war.  Money is one thing, killing people's kids for political expediency is something heinous. But we're in Iraq , and I do believe that we have to leave it a reasonably stable place before we go.  But my brethren on the leftier side have a good point in their belief that it's the Iraqi's country. So my solution (du jour) is this:  withdraw one American soldier for each Iraqi soldier or policeman who is alive and well after 90 days.  It's a pretty unfinished solution.  But if the problem is between bringing the Iraqi security force along far enough to defend themselves and American soldiers who already have the training and experience to do the job right away; then shouldn't we be able to withdraw our troops as theirs become more seasoned?  The Washigntonians (meaning Dems and Repubs) want us to think pull them a

Ward Connerly's World--OK, This is the Final Version
2006-06-03 11:33:00
The thing with Proposition 209 and Ward Connerly, is that if you are truly ashamed of yourself; on that same level that allows you to feel shame even though you are successful and self confident to the rest of the world, you can find a way to drag others into your destructive self-critical logic.See this article from Saturday's Los Angeles Times. The ramifications of Proposition 209, which disallows racial preferences in college admissions, will see only 96 African-American students admitted for the Fall 2006 semester. That's out of a freshmen class of 4,800.Let's face it. For each perfectly eligible African-American student, there are probably 5 that need a little help. Of those 4, one-half will probably not make it through college AT THAT TIME, and the other half not at all. That's my own unscientific summation. But the more important fact is that 6 kids get into college.Prop 209 is the semi-realization of the liberal dream to make poverty an economic problem. If pover

Another Reason Business Doesn't Need Regulation
2006-03-16 03:08:53
Read this and buy a shredder.  Then call a Democratic congressman and, if they have the nerve, they'll move to further regulate the credit card industry.http://www.cockeyed.com/citizen/creditcard/application.shtml

South Dakota Payback Time
2006-03-07 15:43:05
It's payback time for the religious right.  South Dakota 's new law will let us see how America copes in a post-Roe world.  And I can only blame liberals for allowing it to happen.  But, that's beside the point.I figure it's gone.  If Alito and the gang don't overturn it, then measures will have to be taken to further ensure their security.  Too many people on the right have given up everything to see it happen.  And they won't be happy if their president from God, whose given them a Supreme Court from God doesn't come though.

Sun Valley Dispatch, No. 1
2006-03-07 14:51:46
It's quite early for vacationers here in Idaho, 6:08 am.  I suppose I'm still on my CST internal clock, as I'm usually awake if not up by this time.  So far I haven't seen much in the way of news.  I heard about the $67.1B local telephone merger.  I'd be interested in knowing what the actual benefit to consumers was 1, 3, and 5 years after super-mergers.  The pat response is to say that mergers will allow for better customer service, lower prices, and benefits to the consumer.  But who has measured that?  Has anyone followed up on any of these promises?  Watched a little bit of the Oscars.  Glad to see "Crash" took top honors.  A meaningful conversation about race is one of the top 5 on this nation's to do list.  However, as long as it is led by polarizers, apologizers, and talking heads the conversation will never occur.  Instead we'll get what we h

Its Pretty Simple
2006-03-02 05:30:13
It's Pretty Simple Impeach George W. BushImpeach 43Find out how or if we can extract damages from him.I truly do not understand why the media tries to protect a President with what will soon be the lowest approval ratings since their inception.I truly do not understand why the media actively chooses to give him a free pass when it's evident to a blind man that he has lied about Iraq, and now KatrinaI truly do not understand what in Sam Hill possesses Dems to cower in this man's (and I use that term very, very liberally) shadow.  If they can't get it together after this, we ought to vote each and every one of them out.  We should do it to the Republicans on principle, and we should fire every incumbent Democrat.George W. Bush is threat to the republic.

Enabling Incompetence
2006-02-28 05:07:44
Enabling IncompetenceThe new CBS News poll shows Bush's approval rating at just 34%.  He has the lowest approval ratings since Richard Nixon's disgraceful presidency.  But tomorrow, some non-right wing journalist will portray the buffoon as "troubled" instead of incompetent.  They'll say the Iraq war "troubles" his administration, instead of saying that taking the country to war on manipulated evidence is an impeachable offense.  They'll write that despite it all, he's "resolute in the face of adversity" instead of stubborn to the point of stupidity. We are cursed with a media that is enabling the incompetence of this administration to continue.
