New Feature: AJAX Search Maps
2007-06-02 15:00:33
The development team at StadiumHunt has listened to the users and responded in a big way. Starting today, SH will be featuring shiny new maps generated by the collective power of the Google AJAX Search API and obviously the Google Maps API. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how SH has grown to what it is today without having the ability to view shops/services surrounding the stadiums. Then again, I’ll probably be saying the same thing after the next feature is rolled out. Anyway, to use the new “nearby points of interest” feature, simply click one the labels such as “Restaurants” or “Hotels” and watch in awe as the requested points manifest themselves on the map. If you lose track of the stadium, simply click the “x” button located directly under the left-hand side of the search box and you’ll be right back where you started. After testing a few stadiums, I’ve found that the resulting array of nearby locations chang

New Sport: Major League Soccer
2007-05-30 09:40:58
StadiumHunt is proud to announce the addition of Major League Soccer to its database of professional sport stadiums. After beginning with 10 clubs in 1996, MLS has grown to include 13 teams including one in Canada. MLS added Toronto FC for the 2007 season with the plan to have three more expansion clubs by 2010. Other current possibilities include the planned 2008 return to San Jose, or expansion to Las Vegas, San Diego, Cleveland, St. Louis, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Detroit, Portland, Seattle or another team in New York or Chicago. My favorite MLS stadium, you ask? That would have to be the Home Depot Center, home of the Los Angeles Galaxy. Update: seating charts are not yet available for MLS. Share This

Construction on the Twins’ new home is scheduled to begin this month and have it’s doors open by the 2010 season as well. After receiving a paltry 66.25% rating from Eric Neel during his 2006 Ball Park Tour for ESPN’s Page 2, it appears that the Twins are back on track with this move. Share This

New Sport: NASCAR
2007-06-05 17:33:48
A mere six days after unveiling the MLS stadiums, we are ready to unleash the NASCAR tracks upon all of you. Otherwise known as the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of motorsports in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the NEXTEL Cup, the Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. NASCAR has grown to become the second most popular professional sport in terms of television ratings inside the U.S., ranking behind only the NFL. Not being a big fan of NASCAR, I had no idea that Indianapolis Speedway maintained its own golf course comprised of 14 holes outside the track and 4 more on the infield. See for yourself here. The series of (parking?) roads surrounding Texas Speedway also look pretty cool. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future! Share This

Wembley Stadium
2007-07-09 20:04:54
Unless you were on another planet during the last seven days, you are certainly aware of Live Earth: a monumental music event that brought together more than 2 billion people on July 7, 2007 to combat the climate crisis. Live Earth staged official concerts at Giants Stadium (New York); Wembley Stadium (London); Aussie Stadium (Sydney); Copacabana Beach (Rio de Janeiro); the Coca-Cola Dome (Johannesburg); Makuhari Messe (Tokyo); the Oriental Pearl Tower (Shanghai); and HSH Nordbank Arena (Hamburg). Wembley Stadium, officially opened in March of this year, is the most expensive stadium ever built. Other records include the largest roof-covered seating capacity in the world and more toilets than any other venue in the world - 2,618 in total. The stadium looked great while Phil Collins was rocking it and surely sports events will be outrageous. Look for a StadiumHunt link to this one soon! New Feature: “The Blue Arrows of Truth”
2007-07-08 11:02:01
The latest in a long series of changes to the site is rather subtle but worth mentioning. Located beneath each stadium map, you will find the same information, but it will be lying in its most contracted and unobtrusive state. Simply rollover the downward facing blue arrows (otherwise known as “The Blue Arrows of Truth ”) to toggle the section up or down depending on its current state. What’s on the SH drawing board, you ask? The next site-specific update will (a) be within the next 72 hours and (b) involve a staggering amount of international locations. How’s that for a teaser? Trump At It Again
2007-07-18 23:10:31
On Monday, our orange friend, Donald Trump ,  decided to purchase the Running Horse golf course for $30 million. Originally, Running Horse was supposed to be the site of a stop on this fall’s PGA tour; however, in early June the PGA announced that it was moving that stop to Port St. Lucie, Florida due to the Running Horse developers failing to meet PGA deadlines. Running Horse’s bankruptcy status not only also contributed to the PGA’s decision to take the course over the tour but also led to the course selling at a discount. Luckily, Trump knows a lot about bankruptcy so the course should be hosing over shareholders within a year or two. To finance the purchase Trump plans on continuing to overstate the value of his real estate (to obtain more loans) while introducing the Trump Peanut Butter, Trump Computer Paper and Trump Prune Juice product lines. Ok, I’m kidding about the last part. Source: http://www.kmph.com/news/local/8529992.html Share This
