Nice facts 2006-12-04 00:42:00
The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts
about the 1500s: These are interesting... Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married. Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water." Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and
What is globalization? 2006-12-03 12:16:00
Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana's death.
Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before you change the spelling) followed closely by Italian paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles; treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines.
This is sent to you from Morocco, using Bill Gates's (an American) technology and you're probably reading this on your computer that uses Taiwanese chips and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singaporean plant, transported by Indian lousy-drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, and trucked to you by Mexicans...and now being read by a FILIPINO who should be working instead!
That, my friend, is Globalization.

Kiss my "Con-Ass".... 2006-12-09 05:20:00 I'm for charter change. There, I said it.More than a year ago I made a post stating my personal reasons why I think amending or revising our Constitution could actually be a good idea. Even up to the present, I still think charter change could do the Philippines as a whole a lot of good. But not this way.A couple of days ago the House of Representatives approved Resolution No. 197 (formerly Resolution No. 1450) which convenes Congress into an Constitutional Assemly ("Con-Ass") for the purpose of introducing Constitutional amendments or revisions. And it did the same without the concurrence of the Senate, in blatant disregard of the bicameral nature of our legislature as provided for in the 1987 Constitution.Congress was able to do this through sheer force of numbers. The vast majority of incumbent members of the House of Representatives are allied with the administration, enabling them to approve Resolution No. 197, railroading any opposition in their way. This is democracy? The essence of

A first-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, "Harry, what's your problem?"
Harry answered, "I'm too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!"
Ms. Brooks had had enough. She took Harry to the principal's office.
While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test. If he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the 1st grade and behave. She agreed.
Harry was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.
Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"
Harry: "9."
Principal: "What is 6 x 6?"
Harry: "36."
And so it went with every question the principal thought a 3rd grader should know.
The principal looks at Ms. Brooks and tells her, "I think Harry can go to the 3rd grade."
Ms. Brooks says to the princip

The Tyranny of Giving 2006-12-23 16:34:00 The Tyranny
of Giving
Dr. Ralph F. Wilson There is a wonder about Christmas as well as a tyranny. There is a wondrous briskness in the air and a rosy glow on the cheeks of early shoppers. There seems a purposefulness in those in the stores, though the planned buying lists of "Thanksgiving Friday" shoppers disintegrate into a mad frenzy by December 24th. Just grab at anything that Uncle Fritz can smile at when he unwraps it, even though no one can think of anything he really wants or needs. The season also imposes its tyranny on many of us. Instead of being able to give out of thoughtfulness and love, we often give because it is "expected". I heard of one couple who had 85 people they felt obligated to remember with a gift. No wonder the joy of giving falls away to a sort of panicked despair. It is time to refresh our giving with a truth from Scripture deeply imbedded into our consciousness from hundreds of repetitions at church offerings: "Each man should give what he has decided in his h

New Year's blues and the Dilbert syndrome.... 2007-01-03 00:22:00 I'm in a rut lately. The ushering in of a new year almost always does that to me.Imagine, a whole year gone...and hardly anything to show for it.Things have been difficult lately...though probably from a mental perspective more than anything else.I've lost my drive at work, fueled in part by the holiday blues, management's flawed decision making, the inevitable slowdown that comes every holiday season, and the even longer slowdown still to come in anticipation of the coming elections.I mean...what's the point?Of course that's not really a healthy attitude to have, I know. But that's simply the way things are in the government corporation where I work. I really need to get out of here, and find something else to do. Even my blogging has been adversely affected. For some reason I haven't been as prolific a blogger as I once was. I guess I just got tired of all the politics and stuff that I used to write about.Let's face it. Being in the company of mediocre people can really hurt Read more:Dilbert

Hindi Ako Bakla 2007-01-04 16:32:00
I don't know about you, but the first time I saw this video from Michael V.'s Bubble Gang Anthology, I was just positively bursting at the sides. :-)
In English, the title means: "I am not gay".
While I certainly don't have anything against gay people, I do think Michael V. does a pretty funny impersonation of the local stereotypical screaming faggot, though the transition to one takes a few minutes in the video. :-)
Absolutely hilarious. :-)

Human nature.... 2007-01-16 20:31:00 It's been more than ten days since I last made a blog entry.I've been feeling a tad out of it the past couple of weeks, and I just couldn't seem to trouble myself with the effort of making a new blog post.In addition, the sluggish nature
of my internet connection hasn't helped things either, with Blogger.com taking forever to open on my browser. While things have improved (slightly) with regard to my internet connection, blogging is still turning out to be quite a chore. What is it that's been bugging me lately? Is it New Year's blues? Blogger's block? Lack of interest? Plain boredom? Well, to be honest, it seems to be all of them, with some other things thrown in for good measure.Bloggers, like actors, need their motivation. And I seem to have misplaced mine.So why do I blog anyway? And what has changed as of late which made be lose interest in blogging?Primarily, I blog as a means of self-expression, of sharing my views with the other denizens of the blogosphere. Not that my opi
Time warped dreams.... 2007-01-20 00:13:00 Have you ever had a dream that seemed to last for several hours, only to wake up and realizing that you've been asleep for an hour or so?I have, and it's quite disorienting to the say the least. And the subject is quite weird, something that I never really consciously thought of for the past several years.Sometime ago I wrote a post about this girl that I once knew about six years ago.I dreamed that I recently bumped into her and we had a very long chat about anything and everything that took place after we parted ways. In my dream I was surprised since the meeting was only by chance, and strangely enough, other people in my life, such as past and present officemates, classmates, etc. were present in the dream, as if slices of my life from various times were all lumped into one episode.Kinda like the last scene from the movie Titanic except of course, none of us were dead, there was no ship or iceberg involved, there was no applause, and no kiss at the end of the scene. . It's a device that is claimed to drastically reduce the fuel consumption of your gasoline driven vehicle by as much as 50%. It created such a hype when it was introduced in November 2003 after glowing reviews and endorsements from, among others, the Department of Energy (DOE), the Makati Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Taiwan's Automotive Research and Testing Center. Even Malacañang got into the picture, and presented the inventor, Pablo Planas, with a Presidential Award Medal for Outstanding Invention. All in all, various government agencies and government officials got into the picture, singing the praises of a device that miraculously reduces fuel consumption by a significant margin. As a result, in less than a year, more than 3,500 units were sold and installed to customers who swear by the product's effectivenes Read more:Snake

Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will always be there, even when you feel most alone.May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending. Teach love to those who know hate, and let that love embrace you as you go into the world.May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched and who have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. At a loss for words.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted an entry. I dunno. I guess my heart just wasn't in it.It's not as if I have nothing to write about. In fact I have a lot of pending posts, as well as a lot more ideas in my head, just waiting to be translated into blog posts. But for some reason, I couldn't get myself to start or finish any of them.Maybe it's blogger's fatigue, if anything like that exists. I've been fighting it off for several months now, but I suppose this is my worst attack. Almost three weeks without any new post. It was bound to happen I guess, I've been blogging for almost three years now, and sometimes...it just becomes a chore. Failing to update my blog has its negative effects, as my number of visitors has gone way, way down. But it can't be helped. So what now? Is this a prelude to quitting blogging altogether? Probably not. I'm not into it at this time, but it doesn't mean that I'm quitting. I probably need some time to get my head back together agai
Temet nosce.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 You know what? We're never really as important as we would like to believe. We're all expendable, we're all replaceable.True, some of us can be quite important relatively speaking, maybe if you're like, President of some superpower with a nuclear arsenal or CEO of a billion dollar business empire. But for the vast majority of us, in the grand scheme of things, we're just like every other schmo we meet in the street, desperately fighting a silent war against anonymity, against obscurity, even if it is within our own small spheres of existence, seeking to find our place in this world. From day one we were always taught that we are special, that we are unique. That's actually quite true, but the supreme irony is that if everyone is unique, then uniqueness is nothing more than the ultimate equalizer, since being unique is absolute. No one can be "more unique" than others. In being different, in other words, we are all the same. Some people have difficulty accepting this, and I've met qu
