Using 301 Redirect To Optimize Your Site
2007-06-03 01:57:08
Do people visit your site through yourdomain.com, and are you sick of it? Do you want them to use the URL with the WWW prefix? Well, I’ve got a solution. You can use 301 redirect to force your visitors who are going to your site to use the URL with the WWW prefix. This will let you monitor your PageRank better since the different URLs (domain.com and www.domain.com) have different PageRanks! If you force your visitors to use the one with the prefix, you will only have one PageRank and you/your visitors will not be confused with your PR. Here’s how to do it: Open your htaccess file and add the following code to it. Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^tw3o.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.tw3o.com/$1 [R=301,L] Note: You must replace the characters in red.

5 Things That You Should NOT Do If You Want Traffic
2007-06-01 21:00:27
Of course all webmasters want their site to receive huge amounts of traffic. They do not want their sites to be hidden in the dark shadows of bigger sites. There are many things that you can do to increase your website’s traffic, but I have 5 things that you should not do if you want your site to be liked by other people. Do not make navigation hard for your visitors. People today are very impatient. They want the information they need right away, and if you make it difficult for them to browse your site, they will surely leave. Do not cluster your pages with ads. Web surfers, especially those with cash to spend (the visitors that you want) are very selective — they do not want crappy looking sites with too much ads that the content is already covered by banners and ad units. They want neat websites, and they will trust your site if it looks professional. If you want your site to look professional, check this article out. Do not ignore your visitors’ suggestions. How To Generate Returning Visitors
2007-05-31 19:30:49
Let’s see… your site gets 1,000 unique visitors per day, and you say it’s good. Sure, it’s good, but it doesn’t mean that your site is liked by all of them. Try to analyze it more. Your site gets visited by a lot of different people daily, and you’re there looking at your site’s statistics and celebrating. But what you don’t realize is that those visitors stay on your site for less than 5 minutes and never come back again. Now that’s pretty sad. You need to do something to get some quality visitors who are interested in your website, and you MUST make them visit your site frequently. We call this kind of traffic “returning visitors”. What do you get when people visit your site often? There are a lot of benefits that you get when your site generates returning visitors. You develop a relationship with them and you get more than one opportunity to sell your product to them. By giving your visitors a high-quality service, y

Link Building Tip: Quality Over Quantity
2007-05-30 20:20:22
I know that we, the webmasters, want a massive amount of backlinks pointing to our sites. A lot of us submit to a lot of free directories, and rely on them to give us the inbound links that we long for. What most webmasters do not realize is we also have to think about the quality of backlinks — not just their number. Even if we have an immense number of inbound links from directories, MOST of them do not count since a lot of these directories are not even indexed by search engines. Don’t just focus on submitting to free directories, try building links which weigh more than links from web directories. Get links from HIGH-QUALITY related sites. It is essential that the site which will link to you has solid content and a decent amount of visitors. It’s no use getting a backlink from an relevant site even if your topics are similar when that site is getting 0 unique visitors per day. Perhaps you should wait for some weeks to pass and just ask a link from that site when it&rs

Ad Placement Tips
2007-06-04 20:30:41
Are you serving ads on your site? If you are, then remove that pride in yourself and show those ads! Don’t hide them in one lonely corner where no one gets the chance to see them, expose them to your visitors so you can earn more money. You should place your ads where your visitors will most likely see them. Studies show that most surfers tend to look more frequently at the items on the left part of the page than the stuff at the right portion. Also, your visitors will not scroll down to your footer or bottom part of your content area just to see your ads! If they don’t like to read your content any more, they’ll just leave and you’ll miss the chance to gain some revenue. Text ads (links) in the footer area are not really noticed by most people and are often ignored. Why? Those footer links are so tiny that people won’t bother to click them or even look at them. It will be best if you blend your ads to your site’s theme and mix them with your content

2007-06-03 21:20:41
There are many ways of promoting your website — online traffic programs, web forums, instant messaging and more. There are web promotion techniques which are better than others, and I will talk about them in this post. Newsletters , bulletins and e-mails can reach a lot of targeted audiences. There are many methods on how to use these things to your advantage. You can write one article and send it to a lot of people, let your friends spread the word or hire someone to do the work for you (this costs some money). Tips on How to Write a Good Promotional Message Keep it short and clear. To attract people to visit your website, your message should be organized, well-written and concise. Also remember that you are trying to get the attention of impatient web surfers so be sure that your message is straightforward and to the point. Writing 3000-word essays is a no-no. You MUST sound like a professional. You’re promoting your site, something that you’ve worked hard for. So do y

5 Stuff That You Should NOT Do/Have If You’re Serious About Your Site
2007-06-19 06:10:05
Many people think that fancy stuff are so cool that they add too much to their sites. What they don’t know is that those shiny add-ons are just overrated (by them) and are hated by many — especially by serious professionals. Here are 5 things that your website should not have (or you should not do) if you want your layout to look neat. Do not automatically play background music. BGMs are hated by many. Why? If workers/employees visit your site and your super funky BGM plays, their bosses might reprimand them. Also, some people just like to have some peace and quiet in their working place so please give them that. If you really like to have a BGM, just put a small play button so your visitors can freely choose if they want some music or not. Do not use glittery images. Most kids and/or teens find them cool, flashy and eye-catching. The truth behind those glittery images is that… *drumroll* THEY’RE SUPER ANNOYING. Most professionals hate the twinkling stars and shiny
