Larry Johnson was looking stud like at camp Friday.Despite rumors that the Saints want more perks in Jackson, MS, Coach Payton says they are leaning on returning there for camp."Our experience there was positive" last year, Payton said. "I just think it's something we will evaluate. I like the idea of going to a training camp."The Steelers will have three spots open on the O-Line when camp opens. Yikes! The Seahawks gave the boot to Kelly Herndon Friday.*My nemesis, the thunderstorm is going to keep me from finishing my look around the NFL this morning. Pete Prisco does a rundown of the most overrated and underrated players in the NFL.The Tom Brady to Randy Moss era has begun. The Saints start minicamp today. Coach Payton is very pleased with the turnout this season."Hopefully, (this minicamp is) going to translate into an easier training camp from a transition standpoint and a learning standpoint," Payton said. "That first game will be on us quick in training camp because we're playing in the Hall of Fame Game."The mandatory part is one of the few, if any, differences with this weekend's sessions."The biggest difference between the minicamp and the OTAs when you start defining them is one is voluntary per league rule and the other is mandatory," Payton said. "From a time constraint in the OTAs, you go once a day and it's a little quicker - the time on the field - and you don't have them here as long."Antoine Winfield has decided to show up for work. Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers are now back to full strength and on the field."I thought they looked good," coach Mike McCarthy said. "I mean, (Favre) just anticipates so well, and those are valuable reps for the younger players. You can see, one or two to James Jones, coming out of the break and the ball's there, those are the little things that you just can't get enough of, and I thought he threw the ball well."I think Aaron's throwing the ball extremely well. He's been throwing the ball well all spring, and now we've cut him loose medically. I'm very pleased with the progress he's made."Despite the loss of Will Shields, the Chiefs are not concerned with their O-Line going into this season.Thomas Jones is impressing staff and teammates at workouts."As you guys can see, he's a physical specimen," quarterback Chad Pennington said with a laugh after the team's voluntary workouts Thursday. "It's amazing looking in the faces of those young players and the intrigue and what he's accomplished."The thing that I got out of it is he talked about passion, he talked about commitment and he talked about being a good guy. Remember the USFL? I may be dating myself here...no, I am dating myself. For the kids out there, the USFL was a football league played here in these United States in the 80's. From 83-85 actually. Yes, they were separate from the NFL. Although you may have heard of some of the names...Herschel Walker. Pretty good player. Jim Kelly and Steve Young did alright when they came over to the NFL.I guess you may have seen a lame attempt at Pro Football outside the NFL with the short lived XFL. Such a bad idea they started changing the rules mid-season like they were in the sandlot.I don't count the Arena League as an attempt because they are a spinoff, not trying to be the NFL.ANYWAY...According to Fox Sports.com, we may have our very own version of the USFL for you kids in 2008.Bill Hambrecht, a Wall Street businessman, and Tim Armstrong, a senior executive at Google, have decided to start up a rival football league, the United Football League, according to a report on the New York Times we

First of all, Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Be safe!I did something this morning I have not done in sometime. Stranded at my Mother's house with no INTERNET, I watched Sports Center. In between talking up Danika Patrick and how she finished 8th in the Indy 500 (I don't even know if they said who won...) and Barry Bonds first HR since the start of May, the big story on ESPN was their "EXCLUSIVE" face blacked out interview with a dog fighting source.I have not mentioned this Vick thing yet here in The Bloghouse. For one, people get plenty of it everywhere. For the other, I'm sick of talking and hearing about the idiots of the NFL. I guess I did mention when Clinton Portis opened his mouth and by the way, when I seen a snippet of video on ESPN this morning he did not appear to have the big evil belly laugh to go with what he said the way they made it appear in print.
