monkeys 2007-05-24 08:36:54 Well, less than a week after being blown away by 65daysofstatic, another gigin a completely different atmosphear! While last week was a grey and cloudy day, with even rain on the way back home after the concert, that Tuesday is completely different. Summer is back, sun is shining and shorts are out! Good thing because tonight’s gig is probably going to be REALLY hot. And while waiting in the queue, it’s always fun to see all the ska-punk boys coming out in these emo-times with their old shirts of all these nice party bands The Planet Smashers, Mustard Plug, … So after a rather long wait comes Pepper, the first band. I must say I’ve never heard about them but they really rocked the place! And to be honest they’ve been even better than the first half of the Mad Caddies in my opinion! The ladies in the audience where probably even more happy than I was because it has to be said, the 2 frontmen are just in an incredible shape (you bastards …). That apa
*eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* 2007-05-17 06:01:40 Yep, I know, this is the best render you’ve ever seen of a noise on the web … It is actually the one that’s been in my ears for hours now, after I saw, heard, and loved 65daysofstatic live. That whistle in my ears is usually a good sign as it means I was in the first lines, which means the gig was pretty good. But here it was even more than that … The first band was quite strangely, a heavy rock band called The Mirrimar Disaster (if I remember well …). I say strangely because I wasn’t really expecting that when going to see a post-rock / math rock (or whatever-you-want-as-long-as-it-sounds-cool rock) band like 65. Some parts where ok but it’s not really my cup of tea and as many people there that night, I wasn’t really here for them … Tough to open a night …
Anyway, the second slot was with a single guy, Josh T. Pearson, and that was much more to my taste. Electro-acoustic guitar, lots of reverb / effects, and a voice &he
Another one in the wall? 2007-04-26 04:41:58 Few days ago, while wondering in a megastore alley, I discovered a movie that said something like “For those who liked Donnie Darko”. Since that moment I’ve been quite intrigued by the said movie and decided to give it a shot. Now, I know there is some kind of a clash about Donnie Darko - some think it is overrated and that it’s nothing more than a teen movie pretending to be clever - but I actually liked it. I don’t know if it’s the fact that James Duval (ah “Nowhere”, great memories …) is playing the rabbit but still I enjoyed it. Anyway, I’m not talking about Donnie Darko right now but about Brick!
So ok, it might come under the label “teen movie” because of the young age of most of the protagonists, but this is a high level teen movie, nothing to do with an American Pie! Basically, the movie is about a guy looking for his ex-girlfriend who disappeared mysteriously. He soon falls into a drug & violence trag
Hello sunshine 2007-04-11 09:38:59 Well that’s it now! I’ve seen so many movies in the past few years that I wanted to talk about and I have so little time to write about it that I’m going to stop doing a review-styled blog. I mean I just can’t catch up so instead, I’ll just talk about the good ones. After all, why spend time writing about something I found was either a) a loss of time or b) painful for my eyes & ears or c) just not that good. Goodbye then to American Pie - The Naked Mile, Troy, Stay Alive , Hide & Seek, Swimming Pool, Collateral, An American Haunting , American Dreamz, Kingdom of Heaven, Muppets from Space.
Right! Now, that’s already few of them nailed down! So next one is Children of Men and for that one I have to spend a bit more time on it ’cause I actually really liked it.
For those who don’t know about it (yet), it’s been adapted from a book, where in 2027 we all live in an apocalyptic world. In this future, infertility hits human Read more:Hello

It’s been a while … 2007-04-06 05:51:17 since I last wrote on here. I was actually stuck between the old version of the website that I didn’t like anymore and this new one that I couldn’t really finish. as it couldn’t go on forever, I’ve decided to change it anyway even if I wasn’t 100% happy with this design ’cause it was stopping me from writing on either of the versions.
Anyway, if somebody’s reading that, then I hope you’re ok, that you’re happy the sun is finally shining again and that you’ll find this web-thing better than before. It is now powered by Wordpress (I’m actually in love with Wordpress right now and want some babies with it because it’s so cool) and I hope it will ease things when it comes to write some new stuffs.
So here we are, the beginning of a new era, it’s in fact version 4 of this site in about 3 years &hellip
; not bad I know … I’ll try to light up the reviews now and throw in some geeky stuffs/tips from tim
Open Season - 7/10 2007-02-20 06:28:15 Boog, a domesticated grizzlie gets friend with a wild deer and helps him to escape from Shaw, a terrible hunter. They escape up to the forest but have to face another problem now … it’s open season today. Seems like Shaw is not the only problem …
Another 3d animated movie, and another good one. Ok, well maybe it is not the best of all, but it is more than honest with the usual celebrity cast for the voices of the main characters (here you can hear Martin Lawrence, Debra Messing, Gary Sinise or Ashton Kutcher), a nice bunch of jokes and visual gags. One more to add to the big list of nice animated movies and just for info that’s the first one for Sony picture animation. Well done for a first shot guys! Read more:Season

To be honest, I usually hate Adam Sandler movies so when I saw this one in my living room I was ready for a really boring and 1h40 and something minutes. But I was - quite - wrong and the movie is actually okay. Not so many lame jokes or anything, it got even quite emotional in the end and kind of philosophic. So my bad Adam! Plus Kate Beckinsale is just *yummy*, Christopher Walken great as usual and DAVID HASSELHOFF! What else do you want ??? Read more:Click
The Last Kiss - 7/10 2007-02-15 05:51:43 4 guys. 4 friends on their late 20’s. 4 different lives. 4 different problems …
Well as I’m a big fan of Zach Braff (whether in Scrubs or Garden State)I was expecting quite a bit from that movie. And once more, I’ve been pleased by what I’ve seen. Good cast (Rachel Bilson from The OC is surprisingly different … in a good way!) and the story is still quite about the kind of Braff’s characters - an old dreamer, romantic and yet more mature than his usual characters. But good thing is there is more than his character. His 3 other friends are all different, facing other problems and you probably find yourself in one of these 4 guys. A good ending and a sweet pop-rock soundtrack (Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Imogen Heap) complete that nice movie. A must see especially for all the guys! See where we’re all heading to?
The Libertine - 4/10 2007-02-15 05:43:05 John Wilmot aka The Earl of Rochester is a poet / writer living in the XVII century in England. He is well known as a cynical, alcoholic and sex-addict man but is quite respected in the intellectual world for his work.
I’ve been a bit disturbed by this movie as I didn’t whether it left me a good or bad impression. I liked Depp’s performance but found the movie itself quite boring and pretentious but quite liked the last 20 minutes or so. So in the end, I can’t say it is a great movie but there are some good bits in it that might interest some of you. Read more:Libertine
Malcolm X - 7/10 2007-02-15 05:42:45 The biography of Malcolm
X, one of the most famous African American leader in the history.
Well, I must say I have a pretty bad knowledge of American history and always knew that name without really knowing what he did. Thanks to the movie, I now know the big lines and I have to say I’ve been a bit shocked. I’ve always thought of him as Luther King kind of guy but if you pay attention to his early speeches, he was kind of a violent spokesman preaching anti-white stuffs. Fortunately, after his trip to the Mecca, he found out his own way and stopped following extremists ideas. Unfortunately, that led to his death. Anyway you can’t disregard the influence he’s had on the American culture and I invite everybody to watch that movie. Denzel Washington’s performance is just *wow*.

Away from the sun 2007-07-16 16:33:24 “Oops I did it again” said once the poet … or was it that blonde chick that decided to shave her hair so she could bring back attention to her after years spent doing nothing ??? Can’t remember but yes I’ve done what I do best … do nothing … Anyway during these spare weeks that saw the weather falling down to the worst summer I’ve ever had in UK - in other words, rain rain and more grey sky - I’ve seen some great movies I thought I would share with the desperates who still come around here. The first one is Hôhokekyo tonari no Yamada-kun, an animated movie from 1999 from the master Isao Takahata (Pompoko, Grave of the Fireflies). That movie is a compilation of short stories about a family the Yamada’s, in the contemporary Japan. It’s really funny for anybody who knows a bit about the culture and the japanese codes, and even for those who don’t, it’s a nice movie.
