I Love/ Hate Jologs 2006-10-20 07:56:00 LIFE LIFE: I Love to be JologsEvery once in a while, I make a fool out of myself. I mean, that's not unusual. One of my kitschiest things I am interested in recently is imitating the EB Babes Dance Number. The EB Babes are the latest members of Eat Bulaga, the Philippines' longest-running variety show (27 years running). They replaced the erstwhile Sexbomb Girls after a series of unfortunate events mostly about infighting among its members.Anyway, I just love to dance like the EB Babes (well, except the part when they are kneeling on the floor). Just take a look!Hey! There's nothing wrong with dancing like a girl, is there?***************LIFE LIFE: I Hate the JologsLast night, I have concluded that the jologs (lower-class people) would laugh at anything that is unusual to them such as call center agents and the way they layer their clothing, or the sight of pretentious patrons of Starbucks, or the Nokia Nseries phone (which they most likely steal anyway).I have thought of this

Still Alive 2006-10-15 11:18:00 The rumors are simply untrue...
Empress Maruja was not pinned down by a falling billboard during the raging storm weeks ago.
The reason why I haven't posted for three weeks now is that I have so busy these past few days. My apologies to my dear readers who have been anticipating week after week for a new post, but alas, nothing.
Anyway, enough is enough...

HOUSE LIFE: In this corner...
I've always insist that I am thinner than I am supposed to be. I wore tight pants to show off my seemingly-slender legs, never mind if some of the pants were popping off the seams. I bought medium-sized shirts because it "fits" me.
Realizing that my opinions about my weight is a bit outdated (even my resume says I'm 130 pounds), I tried weighing in this device that a local pharmacy put up. Not only it measures your height and weight, but also your BMI, your ideal weight, and even your blood pressure. After several minutes, I got the prin Read more:Alive
Yellow about Changes, Birthday Presents, and that Darn Swimming Pool 2006-09-24 11:38:00 I have been suffering from common cold these past few days. It was only these past few days that I realized how yellow phlegm (especially if you release streams of it through the nose) could smell nasty.
At first, I thought my man-eating days were taking a toll for my health (read: AIDS). Gosh! I hate it when my mind would act like that.
I think I need more love and chicken soup to get well.

WORK LIFE: Che-che-chaaaaange...
Aaah! Don' t you just love change?
In my outsourcing job, I was assigned to a new workstation since the one I was occupying was actually for supervisors. However, transferring to the new desk wasn't smooth flowing.
On my first night, the bottom of my desk had bottles of mineral water and the PC was very dusty. Being a Virgo that I am, I had to wipe the computer clean with a napkin and threw every thrash there was while waiting for my files to be transferred there. However, it seemed that person who o Read more:Yellow

The Maruja Video Overload 2006-09-17 11:52:00 I hope the one-week delay did not bore you to death.
Because of my uber-busy, work-loaded schedule, I have accepted the fact that I won't be posting as often as I want. That is why I always make sure that every new post I publish is worth visiting and reading.
And you know what's weird? Even though I only have two posts so far for this month, my readership increased significantly. In fact, it doubled. Am I unconsciously doing some Search Engine Optimization in my blog?

I would like to thank my dear readers for your kind comments about my first ever Tagalog post. Even though it was the cause of my demerit at I Talk Too Much, I think that the entry showed more about me.

The Extreme Side of the Empress 2006-09-04 10:23:00 I just read the review of my site over at I Talk Too Much.
Again, don't go "warla" since I volunteered to have my baby smacked. Anyway, I'm lucky that an Asian guy reviewed my site and this is what Charles R. has to say about my one-year-old blog.
Well, it wasn't bad as you might think.
A rating of three (never mind the automatic deduction) is pretty rare in that site. My blog will remain the same...true to itself, sometimes well thought-off, and long posts.
Because, as you know, I like mine long.
If you have been loyally following my site, you probably memorized by now that I have two jobs: a nightly outsourcing job that I got in recently (I'm pretty sure Americans are beginning to itch on lynching me for taking their jobs); and my writing job at a children's show that I take at least thrice a week.
Boy, working in two different industries created some kind of extremes on me.

Another Gay Man Killed... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 As I went off to the market this morning, I stumbled upon a scary headline in a tabloid:"Another gay murdered: SERIAL KILLER STRIKES AGAIN"I could not believe what I saw! Could it be that Larra's murder could something to do with a bunch of gay-hating idiots?Reading the news further made my speculation closer to the truth...POLICE are now determining if the death of a 64-year-old weatlhyhomosexual--found hogtied and with multiple stab wounds in thechest--is a simple case of robbery, the handiwork of a murderer with apersonal grudge, or even a serial killer who has been hounding gay men in recent months...The bloodied cadaver was discovered on his bed bound with a bed sheet. His mouth was sealed with packing tape...I have been thinking about the circumstances surrounding the murder of Larra. Love Life (Or So It Seems): The Guy In Red 1970-01-01 00:59:59 It was one week after our first day of freshman class. I was slowly digesting the realities called college as I sat on front row.Our Literature professor entered, acknowledging the students on the back row who went to class one week after school opening. As we all looked back to see who they are, my eyes were suddenly glued to this young man wearing a red t-shirt and faded denim jeans. His hair is short enough to be considered military-issued short, but long enough to look good on him. His face reminded me of the cute guy I saw in a movie back in high school, The Craft.I didn't know why but I felt heavy all of a sudden. I began breathing loadsful of air to fill the titanium lungs. My heart seemed to be wailing to get out of my chest. The professor was beginning her discussion about the different types of literature, but I would glance to his way every once in a while. Who was he? And why was I feeling heavy, and sweaty? How I asked for his name that day was all a blur now. All I could re
Hiding From Him/ Hiding In Himself 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This post is the continuation of "The Day Before My Birthday: 5 Years Ago"***Although I loved Mike, I would not take this emotional beating sitting down. I was determined to hurt him where it hurts him the most. His heart.Days after the embarrassing incident, I stayed away from Mike. Everytime I would feel his presence in the campus, I moved away from him. Everytime he passed by the hallway, I would just bow my head in shame, hiding my face from him.One day, our friends back in freshman year set us up for me to apologize. They tricked me. The girls told me that they were introducing me to a cute guy in campus, but when a friend told me "not to freak out," that became a give-away. I stared at Mike as I apologized intently, his eyes staring far away, but I had a feeling that he was trying to view me from his peripheral vision."I'm sorry, Mike. I promise I'll never do that again.""Just don't be too pushy," he replied, his eyes still trying to view me from the peripheral. And he let out a
Mike Hereafter 1970-01-01 00:59:59 After three years of contemplating, I finally called Mike last 2003 on his cellphone (his number I got from his "Kharl", his best friend back in high school).A woman's voice answered the phone. I thought it was his wife. When the woman passed the phone to Mike, I could tell from his voice that he was ecstatic."Hey, why on earth did you call me?""I'm just checking if you're alive, that's all. So how's your quest to become a policeman?""Well, my wife would like to join," he was just kidding, of course. As I smiled and giggled my way talking to him (it absolutely felt like freshman year all over again), he dropped the bomb."I know where you live now."I tried not to freak out. Why on earth did he searched for my neighborhood?"Prove it.""The main road has a pharmacy, and by the corner is a line of rickshaws..."He's got to be kidding..."How did you know all that?" trying my best to be coy."I just so happen that I was there when I saw you cross the street.""When?""A year after I graduated

Theirs was the cleanest routine in the competition, and their sponsor cheer was unique with all that army concept (and an almost-lifesize moving tank). I thought they would kick the UP Pep out of the Top 3.But lo and behold, the results were the same as last year.3rd place was Far Eastern University. Too bad, I thought they were second.2nd place went to the University of the Philippines, as usual. And the sweet 7-time cheerdancing trophy went to the University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe and Yellow Jackets! Bashing Birthday: Prelude 1970-01-01 00:59:59 It was a bashing birthday for me!Nope, not the gay bashing I suffered from Mike during the freshman heydays (don't ask me if I still love him, I might a. cry, b. cringe, c. feel nostalgic, d. strike a poker face and say "I'm in the process of finding new love," smile then look away). What I'm excited to blog about is the cheering competition I've posted before in "What's Your Name And School?"The annual UAAP Cheering Championship was held right smack on my birthday, September 17. And what better way to celebrate my birthday is to realize that our usual Saturday TV shoot was re-sceheduled to the 18th and treat out Millet and Paulie to an afternoon of school spirit and school bashing.School bashing has been a favorite pasttime among UAAP Basketball fanatics, as with other collegiate rivalries like Tar Heels and Blue Devils, Texas U and A&M. Celebrity Spotting/ Multi-Media Multi-Tasker 1970-01-01 00:59:59 CELEBRITY SPOTTING 101, OR NOTI'm still cracking my way deep into the Philippine Showbizlandia and because of my early exposure to this industry (I hugged Dolphy when I was five), I have become used to spotting local celebrities in public places.Filipinos, especially the masses, love to spot celebrities. And when they do, it is as if they have found a long lost friend. Shrieking in delight, screaming the name, and waving towards them, with matching "Can I have an autograph?" even at the celebrity's private moments like malling or watching a movie. Not all celebs take this over-fascination with a grain of salt. One actor (should I mention the name?) got so pissed after a teenager repeatedly shouted the his name while walking in a mall. The actor went near the lad and grabbed his neck as if trying to wring the poor guy's life dry.A female TV host got a bit insulted after a random lady waved at her. Two Announcements: Wowowee and StarStruck 1970-01-01 00:59:59 We interrupt this blog for some important announcements...WHEN DEATH CHEERED "WOWOWEE!"First, I let the news speak for itself...Manila stadium stampede kills 73 (bbc.co.uk)A stampede outside a sports stadium in the Philippine capital, Manila, has left at least 73 dead, many of them women, with more than 300 injured. Tens of thousands of people had gone to the stadium for the first anniversary recording of a popular TV gameshow. The crush happened when those outside started pushing, prompting security guards to close the entrance gate. The Wowowee show is popular for giving big cash prizes in a country where 40% of people live on less than $2 a day. The show, which airs six days a week, normally offers a 1 million peso ($19,250) top prize, but Saturday's anniversary edition had doubled that money. The 100th Post 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This is my 100th post. I was saving this moment for some great momentous blogging, but alas, all I have are these...***************THE EARLY BIRDIEI have a shoot today at Enchanted Kingdom as they are unveiling new attractions, particularly a train ride inspired from Exodus, the movie they produced last Christmas, and an early evening parade. Yup, the theme park's beginning to become Disney-eque.I was informed that the pull-out (meaning the time we are supposed to leave) was at 7 a.m. So, being aware of my constant tardiness, rushed into the bathroom, put on some clothes, took an early bus, and was startled once I got into the office. No one was there. Well, almost. Our executive producer was about to leave the office when she spotted me. "Didn't the production manager tell you that the pull out was reset to 1 p.m.?"I was dumbfounded. "She didn't inform me," I said.So I have to wait for 6 long hours in the office watching local TV, play spider solitaire, and trying to finish this blog
A Great Game And Then...This 1970-01-01 00:59:59 We were watching the UAAP Basketball Finals between former champion De La Salle Green Archers and former runner-up Far Eastern U Tamaraws at the office. Honestly, I was rooting for FEU to win the championship and so were the rest of the guys at the office.Imagine, a gay guy watching basketball, and it's not just for the sole reason of admiring their semi-hard biceps. I watching it for the game!Boy, the match was tight. Neither team had gone farther than 10 or so points, and the third quarter ended with a tie of 73. Oh, the suspense. Just defeat the elitist La Sallians and go on with life, I thought as I typed the upcoming segment scripts for our TV show. The last few seconds were killing me. A rebounding two-pointer by MVP Arwind Santos became the deciding shot that broke the tight game. La Salle tried their best, unfairly and otherwise, to make a three-point shot but the ball missed the ringed. The competition was so intense you would really expect a fisticuff to ensue. And true enough. I met Jojo when we went to this quiet rural town during their town fair, which we featured in our TV show. Now back to the program.I replied that I had no idea. I'm not working at Larra's other TV station, how on earth would I know.I texted Jojo as to why the employee was sacked? He replied, "He/She is under investigation."The plot about Larra's murder is starting to thicken.
