2007-05-27 17:11:00
grundig wireless speaker provides 360° surround: "I’m not sure what to make of the industrial design of this funky wireless speaker from German electronics maker Grundig. To me it looks sort of like some kind of vacuum cleaner or other household appliance, but the Grundig PSW5000 is actually an outdoor wireless sound system. Just plug in your MP3 player or other audio source into the base station, and carry the battery-operated speaker up to 300 feet away. The unique speaker design claims to produce an enveloping surround effect, and is backed by 20-watts of amplification. The speaker’s case is made out of plastic and designed to resist damage from water, making it perfect for the beach or by the poolside. The speaker retails can be found for about €110 (appx. $148 USD) but you’ll probably need to have one shipped from Europe if you want one.(Via technabob.)

Be Quiet : Sensear Noise -Cancelling Headphones Block Hearing Loss, Not Your Mom Nagging You: "These Sensear headphones aim to be the quite the noise-cancelling, speech-enhancing wunderkinds. They're specifically designed to protect against Noise Induced Hearing Loss in high-noise environments (above 85 dBA) while letting you communicate clearly with the people around you. The setup uses a combo of software and hardware, like a directional multi-microphone system 'that is gain selective in the direction of the speaker' while it blocks out sound coming from every other direction. Topping off the package is integrated Bluetooth, letting you answer your cell phone clearly and hands-free. Obviously, Sensear has big plans for the tech, given the number of additional designs—from chinbands to earbuds—they're showing off. Meizu shrinks Mini further
2007-05-26 07:39:00
Meizu shrinks Mini further: "Meizu seems to be on a miniaturizing spree, and being not content with the Meizu Mini, the company has outdone themselves with the Meizu M6se. Being slim is the main priority for the M6se, and this device measures a mere 0.5mm thicker than the nano despite packing in a 2.4' QVGA display, an FM tuner, and video and audio playback - features that the nano lacks until today. Even the M6se's capacity has been boosted to 8GB - double the amount found in the previous top model. It remains to be seen whether the Meizu M6se will be able to match the nano's price though considering the extra features. Expect to see the M6se hit the U.S. this August.(Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.)

ELLE GlamPhone No. 3…the perfect fashion phone.

ELLE GlamPhone No. 3…the perfect fashion phone .: "With more and more mobile phones being available, the confusion had been set afire. But let the fire burn as it no longer will once the very cool and eye-catching Elle Glamphones set foot on it! Every chic and hip gals search for quenching their gizmo thirst will end when alcatel comes to their refuge! It is available in four vivacious colours that can go with your personalities to the T. though some may find colours like bright red, elegant white, shocking yellow-green or mysterious purple a little too loud even as summer colours, I am vouching for those fashionistas who want their fashion to reflect even in the phone they carry. Fashion is never complete without accessories and so is the ELLE GlamPhone No. 3. It gets with it the Bluetooth technology that allows you through a small elegant headset (available as an accessory) to make phone calls with free hands."(Via Gizmodiva.com.)

SoftBank Announces New Windows Mobile 6 Devices
2007-05-26 07:11:00
SoftBank Announces New Windows Mobile 6 Devices : "'Windows Mobile 6 is finding a new home in some of the new PDA Phones sold by SoftBank, for example the X02HT (Smartphone) coming with a 2.4 inches screen, 2MPix, Wifi b/g, Bluetooth, GSM, W-CDMA and 120g in your pocket but also the X01T made by Toshiba featuring: HSDPA, W-CDMA, GSM, Bluetooth, 3 inches VGA screen, Wifi B/G, 2Mpix and 198g.' The specs on these devices are pretty nice, but it's the colors that have me orange with envy. I want to see more colorful devices like this. Sure, i-mate has the SPL line, but the different colors have yet to make it over this side of the ocean. Even if they do, it's only a TriBand phone. I don't expect the SoftBank devices to be any different when it comes to availability in North America. I think it's time to buy a can of spray paint and a replacement shell for my BlackJack. Then it could be called a RedJack or GreenJack.(Via Smartphone Thoughts.)

iPhone rumor du jour: June 20th release date
2007-05-26 07:11:00
iPhone rumor du jour: June 20th release dateOk, another iPhone rumor -- you want to be looped in, don't you? If not then just wait, there'll be another post along shortly. Anywho, supposedly according to a CNBC 'On the Money' report, an AT&T store told them Apple's cellphone would launch on June 20th. Which is hilarious because if you call 10 different cellphone stores you're bound to get ten different answers regarding the launches of upcoming products -- especially the hottest phones. Why? Mostly just because those clerks read the rumors online just like you. Surely enough, the AP apparently called a bunch of AT&T stores and got launch dates franging from June 11 to June 22, but nothing certain from Apple or AT&T corporate. Still, makes for some amusing Friday reading, dunnit?(Via Engadget CELLS.)

Epson P-3000 portable media player
2007-05-23 18:12:00
Epson P-3000 portable media player : "Epson is more famous for making printers than portable media player s, but that did not stop them from unveiling the Epson P-3000. This hard drive-based portable media player comes with 40GB worth of storage space and plays H.264 format videos on its 4' display. While the P-3000 gets three hours of playback time for video, it performs at double the length for audio - nothing impressive to be sure, as the disparity between video and audio playback time is usually much more than that. Forking out $499 for it seems pretty steep - I think most people would prefer to stick to their 80GB iPod Videos despite the smaller screen size. What about you?(Via UberGizmo, the Gadgets News Blog.)

Monster: Monster iFreePlay Headphones Turn 2G iPod Shuffle Into Headgear: "Tired of all the pocket (or shirt, if you're a tool) real estate your iPod shuffle takes up? Monster's iFreePlay cordless headphones (which look extremely familiar) let you jack your shuffle directly into a side dock built into the left ear. These arguably work better than their nano counterparts, though, since you can control the shuffle pretty easily without actually eyeballing it. Microsoft Surface Computer set to wow
2007-05-30 21:15:00
Microsoft Surface Computer set to wow: "It is amazing how Microsoft managed to keep the Surface Computer secret throughout the five years it took to develop, perhaps they employed the same strategy Blizzard did to keep their employees mum on StarCraft II? I digress, the Microsoft Surface Computer is actually a tabletop system that enables users to interact with digital media using their fingers, resizing and interacting with photos and videos, and even 'digitizing' real-life events. Certain real world objects can also be recognized by the Surface Computer to produce an on-screen version. Businesses look set to benefit from this, and no longer do your office clients have to wait in the lounge thumbing through outdated business magazines as they can keep themselves occupied with the Surface Computer. PSP Phone Revealed By Patent Filing
2007-06-01 16:15:00
PSP Phone Revealed By Patent Filing : "Take the PSP, a great Sony product ruined by its makers' insistence that the only thing it's good for is what it tells you it's good for. Now, give it to Sony Ericsson to make the next-gen, cellphone version. And lo, we have lift-off. This patent filing has something of The 'Homer' Dream Car about it, but where gaming and gadgets are concerned, that's a good thing. Taking the original PSP, miniaturizing it, and turning its screen into a rotatable display is an unexpected and extravagant idea; arranging its buttons to keep the focus on games is an obvious one.Personally, I think a PSP Cellphone should be much like the original, but made smaller, given a slider QWERTY, a hard drive where the disk tray currently is, and a cellphone. Open it up to third party development, and you have my perfect portable toy.U.S. Patent Application 2220070123309 (Via Gadget Lab.)
