About jobs, hiring and resumes 2007-05-26 18:29:41 I just woke up and had to read something to have my brain going and feel that the world haven’t gone past me by the time I slept. Jowel Spolsky wrote a great article back in September on sorting resumes
. Jowel stresses on programming ability, passion for programming, likeliness of being able to pick up [...]
Softwares I cannot leave without: Episode 1 2007-05-25 16:37:21 I am someone who appreciates great softwares. Let it be a windows or Linux software, an web app or a tool for mobile, I try, judge them all and use the softwares I find best. I am a download junkie too. Software Review: HeidiSQL, you can get rid of phpMyAdmin now 2007-05-23 13:17:43 I found HeidiSQL today which blows away all other products in the category. It is a third party GUI management tool for MySQL, 100% free, 1.5MB download size for windows and takes only 2.4MB on hard drive, when installed.
I found HeidiSQL on www.osalt.com. Somebody commented that, “Better functionality than phpmyadmin”. I wasn’t too optimistic [...] Read more:Software

. Still fresh:
Gmail Doubles Maximum Attachment Size to 20 MB
Gmail upgraded
the maximum attachment size from 10 MB to 20 MB. Gmail was quite
forgiving and you could send more than 10 MB in some cases, but now
it’s possible to send at least 20 MB in one message.
Of course,
few mail [...]
Language war: real stuff 2007-05-22 21:27:44 One of the bright side of flame wars between the languages is, they gives the community some real stuff
at the end. We love it when people who really knows the ins and outs of the languages/platforms speaks up and one can actually get to know the gotchas and strengths of the languages and the [...]

Perl commandline tool for reading google groups posts 2007-06-03 11:25:46 This is a little commandline tool I wrote with Perl to help myself read the posts
in google groups. It fetches the thread urls with the latest posts
and opens them in firefox tabs. I use it from cygwin command prompt in my windows machine. You can easily customize it to help your needs. Long live [...]
A research on Web 2.0 webserver demographics 2007-06-08 11:04:14 Background: I had an interesting chat with one of my friends about what technology Web 2.0 uses and promotes. Does it break any trend or at least started to break any in the field of web servers? So for the welfare of science, technology and humanity, I decided to do a research. I can knock [...] Read more:demographics
Song: No Good For Me 2007-06-08 08:52:10 “The Corrs: No Good For Me”
I see a home in a quiet place
I see myself in a strong embrace
And I feel protection from the human race
It’s not parental
But it’s a fantasy, not a reality
And it’s no good, no, no good for me, you have no idea
That I’m walking through the clouds
When you’re looking at me
I’m [...]

Song: Petula Clark - Downtown 2007-06-17 20:47:28 Petula Clark
- Downtown
When you're alone
And life is making you lonely,
You can always go downtown
When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?
The lights are much brighter there
You [...]
Flock 0.9 Beta testing ended 2007-06-23 16:06:31 I have been part of the small group of beta testers who were invited to download and test Flock 0.9 beta for last few weeks. Finally the carnival of 10-mails-per-hour mailing-list is quiet. The bugs are verified, listed and assigned for fix. We were adviced not to air the download link as it was under [...]
Do not run after misleading benchmarks 2007-07-09 23:03:10 I just had to find some time to write about this. This post is aimed to help anyone who feels elevated and impressed by the trendy benchmarks between programming languages and/or frameworks. Benchmarks are tools to help us judge. They have a purpose to serve. But using them to their lowest significance and publishing those [...]
