no phonecards! 2007-04-17 03:05:39 I was recently chatting with my best friends boyfriend who’s based in San Francisco and asked him how beneficial Vonage was for him. His first reply was that it was really affordable and he was saving so much money with it. I remember when I didn’t have vonage to use, I actually bought those phone cards with my godmother? At $10 you’d get something over a 100 minutes but it doesn’t really end there. Once you’ve stopped using the phonecard, it continues to take money out. They have a maintenance fee which starts as soon as you make the first call. Whats worse is… You use up all the minutes on your cellphone cause you have to punch in all the number and the pin code and then dial and then wait for it to connect to finally talk to whomever you’re calling. And it doesn’t end there.. it’s not even crystal clear. You can’t hear who you’re talking to sometimes. I would say that phonecards gave me a headache cause I alwa
imitation - best form of flattery 2007-04-17 02:53:03 go on you tube type vonage commercials and you wouldn’t really find the real Vonage commercials but you’ll find dozens of videos being uploaded copying the Vonage theme song and the end notes.
It’s amusing. Really amusing
The Beauty and the Geek commercial is hilarious though

Verizon vs. Vonage 2007-04-17 02:40:41 Wikipedia states it as a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vonage
. Verizon
filed a lawsuit against Vonage saying it has infringed some of its patents especially the Voip service (which from what I believe is Vonages’ main line of business).
The chronological events can be found here..
Whats your call on it? I found it surprising.
Also since that a judge has barred Vonage from taking in more customers while it is appealing on this case.
April 24 - Verdict. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out (well it will also be on the news)
the vonage phone 2007-04-17 02:31:23 Vonage offers two phone
s - the WifiPhone and the broadband phone.
The Wifi phone is a bit pricey although it has a lot of perks such as being compatible with your wireless router or any Wifi hot spots, its basically like a cellphone but it’s your internet phone. Pretty nifty! It changed the idea of communication too. Imagine, you get to use your Vonage just by connecting to any internet hotspot. Not bad chica.
The broadband phone however is also very easy to use. You just plug in the power supply, plug in your phone, connect it to your broadband line (as stated on Vonage website).
The broadband phone is reliable too, cheaper than the Wifi phone. These phone however carry all the necessary things such as Voicemail, Call waiting,
Call forwarding, 3-Way Calling, and you can even keep your phone number.
business 101 2007-04-17 02:12:26 Vonage won 14th place for the dumbest moments in business - The boors, buffoons, and blunderers of 2006.
#1 went to Wal-mart.
It’s move to IPO from $17 a share went down to $7-3 at closing. Shares plunged to a good 30%, leading to alot of people losing their money. Alot of money.
Tsk tsk. Be wiser people. Wiser. When it comes to the stock market, it’s quite tricky.
services and services 2007-04-17 01:56:27 the very infamous AOL mp3. Refresh your memory? Some dude was trying to cancel his AOL account but had the hardest time of his life. He even recorded it and let it out loose on the web. After that happened, AOL sent out an apology to the customer and announced that the representative that handled his phone call was no longer with the company.
Which comes to my attention with Vonage, out of curiousity, I typed on my Google search bar - Vonage Cancelling, first article that came out, was Tom Keating’s blog about how he had a hard time cancelling Vonage. He didn’t have much of a pain in the neck kind of situation like the AOL customer, he just had to deal with a long conversation, and he did admit at the end that the representative was polite.
But visit the Vonage forum site, and they do give off better information since it’s like a discussion with different people dealing with different situations.
Like a person, I think Vonage can’t really please all their cu
911? 2007-04-16 02:53:45 i’ve read many articles of how dialing 911 on vonage doesn’t work.
it’s stated on their website that once someone dials 911 over their vonage it goes through their emergency call center and from their it connects to 911.
Does it work? Is it reliable?
Vonage isn’t a phone, it’s a VOIP uses the internet to connect to things, but don’t mistake it as a phone - thats how I understood it as.
When Vonage was starting out (a little over a year) they did come across some 911 problems. There are still some issues with 911 that looms over the hub of Vonage.
I’m sure however that the company has taken actions and upgraded their systems to make it easier for people.
Read: Kenny G apparently is the music that plays while you wait until you get connected with 911 from the Vonage call center.
Action taken: Laughing hard.
the 5, 6, 7, 8’s 2007-04-16 02:20:56 woo hoo woo hoo hoo woo hoo woo hoo hoo
thats basically the lyrics of the song which is also known for the vonage commercials.
song can also be found in the Kill Bill Volume 1 soundtrack
the band is made up of 3 Japanese rock and roll ladies
Its what makes the commercials extra hideous
v-phone 2007-04-15 23:57:25
the idea of the v-phone
is to turn any PC or laptop into a fully functional Vonage telephone. The v-phone comes with 256 mb of memory for you to keep files as well and a pre-loaded software so you just have to plug it in and you can dial and talk away.
Now, I haven’t met anyone who actually owns a v-phone at the price of $39.99, I don’t really know if people would buy the v-phone when there is something called.. Cellphones.
But I’ve read alot of reviews about the v-phone, it’s simplicity and handyness makes it excessively appealing to consumers. And for those businessmen who travel, may have the best use of it. Since for example if you’re from San Francisco but you’re travelling to London, you can just plug in the usb and you need to make a phone call back the U.S. you can do that because you’re still basically calling from the same local area code of San Francisco. It’s definitely cheaper than making calls from your hotel room or fro
