;..or maybe it’s more like a full face lift. I’ve re-designed the site from the ground up…..not one thing remaining from the old one, except the colour scheme. Still a few changes to make over the next few days…..
The new site is split into more sections, with more artwork in each category. So it should be a lot easier to find samples of my work in each area. I’ve also added more text descriptions of the illustration and animation services I offer (one of the old site’s major flaws).
The illustrations are now displayed in-page, rather that in a pop-up on the old design…this bugged me like hell after a while, so I’m guessing it did others too!
There is a far better links page, as well as a load of link buttons and banners you can link to the site with (that would be flippin lovely!). There are several link slots left if anyone wants to exchange links…art, comic, writing site

Rik’ (named because he looks a bit like a moody Ricky Gervais), character I drew up for the team behind the soon to be launched Cartoon-UK.Com. One of about a dozen different projects I’m involved with at the moment.

REDESIGN AND ANIMATION PROJECT 2007-07-09 19:59:22 Almost finished re-jiggering the blog. Still a few tweeks to come over the next couple of days, but it’s late now and I’m tired.
This is Iron Bruce, a character design I’ve been working on for Carl Hislop, for use in an animation project we’re embarking on ‘Bish Bash Bosh’, about the life of a struggling boxer. (Think Rocky with a hint of Monty Python).
To try something a little different we’ll be posting regular updated here on my blog as characters and scenes, the website and the accompanying comic strips develop. So you’ll get to see all the bits that go wrong too……

CALVIN TV… BLOG FEATURE 2007-07-12 10:43:58
As part of the new blog re-design, you can expect to see a few more update popping up over the next few weeks. The first of which is the little tv (flash) screen in the sidebar. ‘Calvin Innes TV’ is a feature currently in development.
At the moment the screen shows a set animation, scrolling through a few of my pictures. Thats all going to change shortly though, with the addition of controls you can use, to filck to ‘different channels’.
It will be a quick and easy way of flicking between my illustration samples, cartoons, character designs and animations. I might even put the odd video up there for you to watch!
This is one of four new features for the blog..more over the next few weeks. Any thought on the new feature are welcome, hope you like them!

Not had loads of time to post lately, I’ve been up to my eyeballs with work. It’s great and all that, but so goddamn tiring! I’m currently working on about a dozen different projects, each in different stages of completion and covering a pretty wide range of things.
My Little Big Town is just weeks away from our big launch. The animation studio I have formed with award winning writer Rikki Colrein will launch the new website and open the studio doors in about 3 or 4 weeks time. We’ll have a ton of animations by myself and Rikki, as well as a few written by others that I have animated for them. I may even shove a few of my individual ones up, we’ll see.
Gizfolio is going from strength to strength, with tons of new members and job posters joining. If you’re a freelancer of any kind I urge you to check it out. A couple of great new members to note are cartoonist Neal Obermeyer who has a stunning portfolio of published work,

The Trip Hippie Wizards
is an animation, and graphic novel project I’m currently working on. The trip Hippie Wizards are two brothers, who find themselves in a surreal world after eating something they shouldn’t….. The brothers find that while ‘tripping’ they can travel to the odd world known as ‘Bright Light’. After numerous trips, the brothers become stranded.
The animation will feature original music from Clubland, and Limefox and will combine several different animation styles, handled by a small group of animators. More coming soon….
I’ve just added a flash gallery to my WEBSITE so there is another way of viewing my illustrations. There is also a new ‘written’ section and a load of new artwork up….even more coming soon as well as ‘Innes TV’…watch this space.

Busy Busy Busy… 2007-08-15 04:54:42 Gawd, it seems like ages since I’ve last posted, again.. but I’ve been pretty busy. More posts coming soon though, as well as the updates to the blog I’ve been meaning to do for ages.
The big news, and one of the things that has kept me so busy over the last few weeks, is the new deal I have with Pinestein Press, the American childrens book publisher. I’ve dealt with publishers several times before, but Pinestein are by far the most forward thinking I’ve worked with.
I’m currently illustrating my first book for them, which will hopefully be the first of many. With plenty of ideas being thrown around, and with the back-log of 20 or so books I have written there should be some great work coming from the partnership in the near future.
The current book, a collection of stories by several great authors, will be released towards the end of the year. More news soon!

I’ve been scribbling quite a few new cartoon recently. Been feeling inspired I think, or something like that! I’m writing a couple of books at the moment, so whenever I’m not working on them it’s nice to shut off and do a few cartoons. Because I’m so busy at the mo’, I think I’ll keep posting these cartoons over the next couple of weeks, until I have more free time to write posts!…. So here ya go!

I’ve just finished illustrating (and writing) a new kids book for Pinestein Press. Mini Mysteries & Kooky Spookies will be available in America some time in October. It should be released other places too shortly, I’ll post when I know more.
I illustrated the cover, and came up with 12 drawings for the book, one per story. The book contains a collection of stories from 4 authors (including myself), the other writers are, Stephanie Campisi, Dorothy Massey and Marcia Nass.
‘The book features six simple everyday mysteries that readers can solve along with their favorite sleuthing characters, and six not-so-scary tales of some hauntingly memorable spooks. These “bite-size” stories are perfect for new readers looking for something to sink their teeth into!’
My own contribution to the stories are three shorts, ‘Ralphie The International Super Detective’, about a young detective and his dog, Max.

I’M BACK!!! 2007-11-03 08:15:09 Gawd…what a month. I’ve just got out of hospital, after a pretty major stomach operation, so it’s taken me a while to get back into things. I’m kind of back on track now though, so tons of new stuff coming soon.
Mini Mysteries & Kooky Spookies, published by Pinestein Press is now available. I illustrated the book a little bit back, and wrote three ‘Ralphie, The International Super Detective’ stories for it. Get yourself a copy why don’tcha.

Uncoloured illustration taken from a new book I am working on, featuring Tass-Heya, a mermaid princess, and warrior. Despite her parents requests for her to act more ‘princess-like’, she is stronger and braver than most of Neptune’s own warriors…. When the great undersea city is attacked by a large shoal of hungry sharks, ells and nasty little fish, she takes it upon herself to do her part. When Neptune’s warriors fall at the city gates, all looks doomed, until Tass-Heya leads the invading army away from the city, saving her people. As she darts between the corals and vines on the seabed, with the hungry horde behind her, she stumbles and falls into a deep ravine…….. Read more:Princess
CHRISTMAS TREAT!! 2007-12-02 12:25:09 As part of the continuing update of my website www.calvininnes.com I’ve added a new feature to the front page animation, just for Crimbo. By clicking on the flashing yellow question mark in the bottom right corner, you can bring up a ‘Weather Control Panel’. From here you can change to look of the front page on CalvinInnes.Com.
From the control panel you can colour in ‘Castle Calvin’, in either full color or moody blue tones. You can also select from three different weather options.
The weather can be changed to ‘Sunny’, ‘Stormy’, you can change it from day to night, or as a christmas treat, you can make it a snow covered scene. There are tons of ways you can mix up the options to make different scenes…have a play about with it.
Don’t forget to look around the rest of my site once you’ve finished playing!

My Little Big Town (my animation studio) is undergoing a total overhaul. From the web presence, to the marketing, to the content, and the services offered. While MLBT has been more of a side project for the last few years, it’s now my main focus for the coming year.
