Word Count Update 2007-07-12 20:59:00 I'm done for the night. Ready for bed.
Here's the ending word count: 42,024.
That's 1,636 new words since my last check-in.
Not bad when you consider I went to the movies last night. Read more:Update
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix 2007-07-12 19:36:00 Picture taken from of http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0373889/e.jpg
After work yesterday I took the boys to go see HarryPotter

. My goodness are those kids growing up! I'm curious to see how they're going to pull off the last couple of movies when its obvious the cast has matured beyond their book counterparts.
Not that it matters to me really. The story is what's
Home Again 2007-07-21 20:37:00 If you haven't guessed..I was on vacation last week. My husband gets a tad bit upset when I announce to the world that we're leaving the house unattended for extended lengths of time. Can't imagine why! So, I left you in a lurch and I apologize.
But look at what I did while I was on vacation! That's a bear cub, people! A playful, inquisitive, bear cub who had a slight fascination with my hair. Read more:Again
It Doesn't Seem Fair 2007-07-26 20:32:00 One of my sisters is going through a rough time. Again. It seems bad luck follows her around like a rabid dog. Just when things start to look up, she gets knocked down and bruised all over again. Bitten in the ass, so to speak.
I can't tell you how much it breaks my heart.
I'd like to wave a magic wand and fix everything for her. But I can't. Some problems are beyond the scope of good
Writing Update 2007-07-25 20:14:00 Okay so I haven't made much progress since my last post on the subject. A week vacation and two nights of Harry Potter have thrown me off my stride. However, I did make a little bit of progress tonight.
Starting Word Count: 43,143
Ending Word Count: 44,712
Words Gained: 1569

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows 2007-07-25 11:05:00 I didn't get the book until Monday morning when I showed up for work. Danielle, the sweetheart, picked up my reserved copy when she stopped in to get hers. Since I was out of town on vacation this worked very well for me. Of course, I must admit I spent most of Saturday and Sunday lamenting over the fact that I would have to wait to start it after most everyone I know had already finished it. Read more:Harry

Writing Contests 2007-07-31 12:57:00 This is rather annoying. I keep running across various writing contests and, without fail, I'm unable to participate. Either the deadline has passed by the time I stumble across the notice or I don't have anything to submit that fits the contest criteria. Of course, I could write something that fits, but the deadlines have been so tight that there's no way I could produce anything worth Read more:Contests
Number Update 2007-07-29 22:16:00 I have been writing. Not as much as I'd like, but sometimes RL has a way of interferring. We had to go to the in-laws' today to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. It was a very nice visit and I quite enjoyed myself, but I barely got 300 words after we got home tonight.
The numbers below reflect the progress made since my July 25th post.

Friday Snippet 2007-08-03 13:05:00 You know the spiel...copyrighted, draft version, typos and errors included for your viewing pleasure.
Because I'm jumping around, I think you might need a little set-up. This is from my vampire/romance, Fallen Angel. The villain is trying to place nice here, but Makenna's not buying it. They're discussing how and why Gabe wrote the book detailing the last years of Abrianna's known existence.

Speaking of Contests 2007-08-03 07:17:00 If you don't read PBW's blog, I thought I'd post a link to her latest entry. It appears there are several contests running right now.
I think I'm going to enter the Writer's Digest. Might take some work, but I'm pretty sure I can write a complete story in less than 1500 words. Sure I can. It's slightly longer than flash fiction after all and I've been forced to write flash fiction in at Read more:Speaking

I Think I'm Embarrassed 2007-08-01 20:52:00 A couple years ago my husband and I worked very hard to put in a number of flowerbeds around our house. We hauled rock. We hauled dirt. Eventually the little gardens came together and I could begin planting. I started with hostas. Added some irises and mums. Rose bushes. Lilies. Glads.
You would never know it. The flower beds are barren this year. I'd like to blame it on the summer drought, but Read more:Embarrassed
A Night with the Hubby 2007-08-04 07:02:00 Last night the hubby and I got a sitter for the kidlets and went out on a date. At least, that's what I'm calling it. I figure anytime we get to go out to eat and, eventually, spend some time alone together, it's a date. Who cares if the first part of the evening was spent at a restaurant with friends? After we left there, we were alone. Just the two of us. And that's a date!

Haircut, Tutoring, and Some New Words 2007-08-06 20:47:00 Last week I got my hair cut. I wasn't thrilled when I left the salon, but I thought things might turn out okay once I'd washed and styled it myself. For a week I tried to convince my hair to do SOMETHING. I try not to be too uptight about my hair, but some bad haircuts are just beyond my coping skills. This happened to be one of those cuts.
So tonight while the little man met with the tutor, I Read more:Haircut

More Words 2007-08-09 21:29:00 I'm up to 54,331 words.
My hero has just had sex with a succubus, something neither of us expected. He's been marked for death, but, right now, he's too drugged to realize it. Oh, how the guilt is going to eat at him! Don't worry though, I think I know how to save him.
At least, I'm hoping my heroine knows how to save him.
Of course, his sexual relations with another woman at this point Read more:Words
Itsy, Bitsy Progress 2007-08-14 22:01:00 I'm in the process of setting up a rescue, but things are pretty slow going. I think I'm still trying to recover from the weekend. My brain feels a bit foggy. Slow. Tired. I only wrote a few paragraphs tonight before wimping out.
So, new word count is now up to 54,847. Read more:Bitsy
Boat Trip 2007 2007-08-13 15:51:00 This weekend we had our second annual boat trip. This was an adult only trip, no kids and no pets. We shipped our boys and the four-legged daughter (aka "the dog") off to the grandparents for a few nights. While they fished and swam, saw a movie, and made messes, we enjoyed some adult conversation and many relaxing hours on the water.
Here are a few pictures from our long weekend.

It's in the Details 2007-08-17 06:48:00 I've reached the first real stumbling block in my WIP, Fallen Angel. I thought this next scene would just fly right by, appearing on the blank page without any blood, sweat, or tears. Now I'm not so sure. I spent an hour and a half last night at the library while the kidlet was being tutored and I barely managed 300 words. In fact, I might need to redo my math because I'd be surprised if I even
Thursday 13 2007-08-16 07:25:00 Thirteen Things that can be found on my desk today:

Cumumber melon hand sanitizer. (I need to replace this soon as its almost empty). 5. Business cards with the wrong street address on them. 6. Burt's Bees Read more:Thursday
Got My Words! 2007-08-15 20:24:00 I managed to write over 1000 words tonight. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't terrible either. I'm actually looking forward to writing this next little bit.
Here's the numbers:
Last Night: 54,847
Tonight: 56,118
That's a total of 1, 271 new words. Not bad for a couple hours worth of "butt in the chair", especially when you consider I took time out to tuck the kidlets into bed.

One Thousand Words Tonight 2007-08-22 21:23:00 That's about all I wanted to report. I got my words tonight. More than a thousand actually, but I'm too lazy to do the math again.
WIP Total Word Count: 60,008 words

's progress gave me a good start on Chapter 13. My heroine has just met the hero's ex. I thought the fireworks would be instantaneous, but so far they're more concerned with other things. I'm thinking the tension will Read more:Thousand

Lazy Weekend 2007-08-20 17:43:00 I must admit I was spectacularly lazy this weekend. I watched movies, read one and a half books, and that was about it. I might have managed to throw in two loads of laundry and drag myself to the sink to do dishes once.
I don't know what got into me. I lacked motivation of ANY kind. I didn't want to write. I didn't want to scrapbook. I most assuredly did not want to clean the house. No, a Read more:Weekend
Diagnosis Uncertain 2007-08-24 19:28:00 Well, we went to the family doctor and had two more x-rays done. Apparently the ones taken at the Clinic weren't very helpful and our Doc needed a better view of the little guy's elbow. Even though the nurse was very gentle the manipulation hurt and he ended up crying again.
The doctor waited until the tears were done to come back into the room, something I'm certain he did on purpose. He Read more:Uncertain
Third Strike..You're Out!! 2007-08-24 06:42:00 My poor little guy. He had a rough day yesterday, which is why I failed to post my Thursday 13. Well, that and the fact that my Internet provider was experiencing some technical difficulties following a wicked thunderstorm.
But let's get back to the boy, shall we?
When the hubby and I got to the daycare to pick him up we found out one of his daycare playmates had attempted to strangle him. It
Tragedy 2007-08-30 11:15:00 Yesterday I found out that my dad's ex-girlfriend (ex by about a week) had lost her grand-daughter. The little girl was 12-years-old. She was shot by her younger sister and died instantly at a family friend's home.
My heart bleeds for this family. It's one of those senseless tragedies that make no sense. It's also every parent's worst nightmare come true.

Two New Writerly Books 2007-09-26 15:42:00 First of all, I don't think writerly is a word...but I'm using it anyhow. Enough said.
Okay, so I've already mentioned I'm having this odd little fixation on getting the next scene right in my book. I know I should just wing it and worry about fixing it later, but I can't. I seem unable to proceed past the yellow crime scene tape, which reminds me, would the house be taped off even if the police Read more:Books
Tiger's Game 2007-09-26 12:10:00 Although storms blew through mid-Michigan, we were blessed with dry skies in Detroit. We arrived an hour early, which was a good thing since parking is always a challenge. Our luck held, though, and we were able to get right next to the stadium. It was worth the $20. This is Detroit, after all. Walking through downtown in the dark is not something I'm comfortable with at any time, but especially
Finally! 2007-09-25 12:41:00 The new season is here. For the first time in MONTHS I was able to watch television without being bored to tears. Yay for premiere week!
After getting home from school last night I pretty much planted my butt on the couch. While eating my spagetti and garlic bread - made and served up hot courtesy of my wonderful hubby - I watched Chuck. It's not going to be a favorite, but I found it Read more:Finally
Police Procedure Questions 2007-09-24 08:12:00 Okay, so I'm stuck until I can get accurate answers to a few questions. I have created a scene that demands the attention of local law enforcement. Here's the scenerio:
Important Fact #1: There are no dead bodies, but the entire family is missing.
Important Fact #2: There are bullet holes everywhere and signs of forced entry.
Important Fact #3: There is blood at the scene.
