Casino versus Japan - Search For The Sun
2007-04-27 16:18:00
Casio bleeps, ring-mod distortions and soaking harmonies. YES! That is what this blog is all about.. electronica that makes you float. Casino versus Japan is Erik Kowalski. He's a long time music collector that sampled everything, then threw it all away, then collected again, then threw it all away; he shares the same ideas as lots of us. And he makes the music we love, too. Check out his song, Search For The Sun. You'll love it. Strategy - The Sea Is So Cold (Soutien Gorge Remix)
2007-04-20 01:53:00
This is a song you listen to the morning after you've been at a dubstep rave and your ears still hurt Bleepy electronica that should be dubsteps FIT older sister, but isnt quite. So is it closer to Vector Lovers? Maybe. Its title is clever, 'cos YES! the song feels so cool. Cold. And Yes! Its not actually as calming as you'd think. The whirrs and bleeps keep crashing around you. But, who likes arty write-ups? Just listen to it. x Mp3: Strategy - The Sea Is So Cold (Soutien Gorge Remix) Next Steps Mp3: Soutien Gorge – Fényjelenséget Buy This Song MySpace Last.Fm

beth orton
2007-06-05 22:03:00
Every boy into folk-indie-tronica is in love with Beth Orton, its as simple as that. Not only does she have a voice that sums up everything shoegaze, but she's not scared to make ten minute tracks, and.. oh.. some of the best end-of-album Chemical Brothers epics feature her. I

skream
2007-06-04 20:08:00
Ever since the first acetates of 'Midnight Request Line' got ripped and uploaded, every dubstep blogger with a keyboard had a slightly different speculation as to who would sign Skream. Tempa finally got the gig, and who better? The long time champions of dark 2, ..3 step is home to Hatcha and Banga, no less. A few years on, they've let Skream press out a fair proportion of his much-rumoured chock-full hard drive; Skreamizm Vol. 3 shows no sign of over-supply whatsoever. The best cut on the EP, 'Check it' features Warrior Queen .. anyone listening to the pre-dubstep heavy broken-riddim scene a few years back will remember the devestating vocal she did for Sunship on 'Almighty Father'. 'Check it' is another sweet vocal - meets - devestating riddim track. Anyone with half a brain will get down to DMZ over the next month or two to see how this one goes down. mp3: Skream - Check It (Vocal)

boy in static

Glitch-click acoustica that doesn't compromise drenching guitar melodies for anything more synthesized. One of the handful of artists who bring their unplugged skills to this amazing genre. For fans of Four Tet circa 'Rounds' and dntel. mp3: Boy in Static - Bellyfull

matzak
2007-06-08 09:07:00
Matzaks myspace sounds like how i'd write a description for this blog: electronic, playful and cosy, homey sounds. No guesses why, then, I think you're going to love this song. From the LP "Life Beginnings" out on Boxer Records, we have something inbetween the clicks of Holden, the warmth of Nathan Fake and the delicacy of say.. Vector Lovers..x http://myspace.com/matzakboxer mp3: Matzak - Dadadaughter

kammerflimmer kollektief

amazon 2
2007-06-21 18:11:00
After a nice holiday, I'm back :) Tons of jungle came out in 1994-1995 which really pushed the envelope of cut-sampling; there are scores of drill/chop/idm/* fans who have a really limited awareness of anything outside of Squarepusher. Here's how it is: Mid 90s jungle-heads still run rings around 99% of the chop-up samplists who came after them. Its true! Case in point: mp3: Amazon 2 - Booyah (Remix) - 1994

chemical brothers / dizzee rascal
2007-06-26 03:24:00
First, possibly the greatest Chemical Brothers epic ever. Crashing in near the ten-minute-mark, 'The Private Psychadelic Reel' is the swirling colour-fused climax of 'Dig Your Own Hole'. Part eastern - all big beat, the sound is distinctly friday-night-at-glastonbury.. drinking cider as the sun goes down. This is for everyone in Pilton trying to make their way home! :) Second up, a staggering 2-step revival track from Dizzee Rascals new album, 'Maths and English'. Sci-Fi Bleeps make the electronica kids dig.. but this is a pure 1999 club banger.. enjoy! mp3: The Chemical Brothers - The Private Psychadelic Reel mp3: Dizzee Rascal - Flex

husky rescue

Check out this ambient pop band from Finland, Husky Rescue. Their new album, Ghost is not real, is halfway indie-bliss-pop, halfway bleeps and clicks. This awesome electronica number appears towards the end of the album, its too good not to share. mp3: Husky Rescue - Shadow Run

old school sunday mixtape #1
2007-07-29 09:15:00
Here's the first paper-fight summer sunday mixtape! I've put together some old-school mid/late 90s electronica, mostly british stuff. British electronica went through some fascinating iterations in the 90s, from the early 1990s post-rave ambient house (VERY under-represented here, but see the ORB track) to the 1994-1995 rich layered psychadelic-samplefests (FSOL - Among Myselves). As the mid 90s carried on, we saw electronica mix with british indie, headed by the Chemical Brothers, Fluke, etc. The staggering Surgeon / Mogwai remix is a hightlight of this entire decade. On the dance side, LTJ Bukems Good Looking label was unstoppable, I think the two records here, 'Atlantis' and 'Alpha-7' does its back catalogue from this time some justice, though there was a LOT of output here, and i'm sure everyone has their favourites. Enjoy! OLD SCHOOL SUNDAY MIXTAPE #1 Chemical Brothers - Dream On Ken Ishii - Endless Season The Orb - Star 6 & 7,8,9 Future Sound Of London - Room 208

vector lovers / mixtapes & cellmates / dr blue
2007-09-03 19:01:00
Well, its been party-central at Paper-Fight since the new Vector Lovers album came out. Make sure you go out and buy this sucker. There's tons more variation than on the last, self-titled album.. there's even some vocals! (shock-horror). And plenty of the trademark blissful textures and plink-plonk noises. Also, an awesome track from Mixtapes & Cellmates (think Postal Service / Dntel), and an absolutely massive dub track that has come out of nowhere and blown heads all around. Enjoy! mp3: Vector Lovers - Hush Now mp3: Mixtapes & Cellmates - Quiet mp3: Dr Blue - Who Make We
