The wedding went without a hitch, we had a lovely ceremony and the company of the most wonderful friends and family. I couldn’t be happier The Arteccentrix Gallery

Artist Conann FitzPatrick's blog, Paintings, Photographs and Drawings. | An artist's weblog commissions accepted and work for sale.
Blog Review - Conann Fitzpatrick 2006-08-21 17:59:00 The past few days have been a flurry of worry about the upcoming wedding day. I’m not worried about getting married, I truly have no doubts that it is what I want - these are just worries about the actual day, hoping it will go well, hoping that my new family will love me and that I won’t let anyone down.
My cowboy is so good and so laid back about it all, how he can be so cool I just don’t know. He calms me with his stories when we are lying together at night - and he is a great storyteller and it was some of his stories that led me to the blog of Irish Artist Conann Fitzpatrick.
As well as his love of the western way of life, my cowboy also has a boundless love of Ireland and its people. Before we met he lived and worked in the Bogside in Derry in for a couple of years and I love hearing about all the beauty of its landscape, its often turbulent history and all the photographic memories he seems to carry around of his travels and experiences. He tells me that the m
Artist Submissions/Art Scam Poll Results 2006-08-19 04:05:34 Well, once again not much time to blog in the past week but I have managed to update some of the pages a little with some paintings and the beginnings of the photo page.
I did promise to let you know the results of the poll about art scams posted at the old blog. Although voting was slow, it would appear that 40% of respondents have never had a scam email regarding their art - lucky them! At the opposite end of the spectrum an equal number confessed to receiving emails from scammers every week - unlucky them. The remaining 20% told us that they had had more than one scam attempt in their inbox but less than 5.
I myself would fall in the final 20%, but I expect as time goes by I will receive more and more of them. Sadly it would seem that the more you advertise your art (or indeed any saleable commodity) online, the more fools will come out of the woodwork and bombard your inbox with stupid attempts to scam you. The only advice I can give is to be careful - the signs are easy enough to Read more:Artist
God Blessed Texas 2006-08-14 00:55:27 I am really excited about this article, which is once again allowing me the pleasure of diversity in the artworks featured on the blog. I came across the work of this gentleman initially on Flickr - this time we are talking photography, but I think this is photography with a real difference and although I don’t know a great deal about the medium, I can honestly say these are some of the most striking pictures I have ever seen. For anyone who has never seen “High Dynamic Range Photos” do please explore Dave’s wonderful portfolio.
Dave Kozlowski is an artist from the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex in Texas
who describes himself rather modestly as an “amateur” and visiting his profile on Flickr, the testimonials bear out the fact that not only is he extremely talented but a thoroughly helpful and enthusiastic guy.
It was my partner who first came across his pictures, obsessed as he is with all things western and anything with cowboy in a search string will Read more:Blessed
Upcoming Attractions & Artist Features 2006-08-13 03:24:25 As I posted last time out, I’m a bit pressed for time but the blog update is going pretty well. Over the next few days, and subject to permission, I will be featuring the work of another artist whose work I think you will find extremely interesting. Look out for that over the next week or so.
There will also be some more on the last poll I conducted about art scams online and a few more snippets about art galleries and representation for artists.
In the meantime, I have been thinking about additional pages for the blog. There will ’soon’ be a page dedicated entirely to art and artists from the Cayman Islands, plus some articles about individual artists from the islands with whom I have worked and who continue to inspire me.
I have decided too that a photo album might be a nice idea and I have added a page with that in mind. The first picture has been posted and I’m looking for a caption so if you have any smart comments to make please leave me your pearls of wis Read more:Artist

A Warm Welcome To You All 2006-08-10 22:21:15 Welcome to the new home of Arteccentrix - an artist’s blog by me, Nickola McCoy. I decided it was time to move on from Blogger while the blog was still relatively young and before I became too entrenched.
I hope that my existing readers will stay with me as I start the next chapter of my blogging life - please update your feeds/live bookmarks and most importantly those special links that you have all been kind enough to give me in the past.
I have to say that my time with Blogger was trouble free and enjoyable and it was a great service for a beginner like myself. Please bear with me while I come to terms with my new environment here at Wordpress and forgive any bloopers that may appear on some of the old posts that have been transferred across from the previous site - I’ve done my best to tidy up but there may still be some lingering faults.
The next few days will have to be spent re-submitting to all the directories and corresponding with some of you to make my transition Read more:Welcome
An Artist Gives Thanks 2006-08-06 02:40:00 Thank you! Danke! Gracies! Merci! Tai merbani! Rekhmet! Doh je! Merastawhy! Mese! Ta! Mahalo! Toda! Jamadi! Takk! Barkal! Grazie! Dan san! Sipas! Mèsi!
I always wanted to try to have a variety of artistic formats aired on my blog. Today I want to deviate a little from previous postings with a letter of thanks to my partner.
You see, I am marrying my partner at the end of this month for one very simple and selfish reason. He is my muse. He inspires me and ignites my inner creative spirit like no one I have ever met. From the day I met him my creative self has been in overdrive. Proof of this was the production of the series of works entitled "Black Hat". Which eventually ran to over 40 original paintings. This painting from the series is entitled "The Letter" and it depicts the hours spent writing letters and wishing to be with this new and exciting person who had entered my life. I later did a quick pastel negative of him and this is what it looked like.

Outsider Art - Take 2 2006-08-03 23:35:00
If you had no idea who painted this picture, would you consider it junk, the product of an unlearned and unskilled artist? Would you feel differently were I to tell you that it is in fact the work of none other than Henri Mattisse? I assure you that it is a Mattisse, a piece entitled “Red Studio”.
This brings me to the subject and the point of my article - a term with which I only recently became acquainted in my search for definitions of art that doesn't quite fit the norm. I stumbled upon the use of "Outsider
Art", a term used when referring to untutored artists. I recently referred to the subject of critics in this blog and it seemed to me that the description was often used by them in a derogatory way to define the work of an artist who has no formal training.
Here is an example of artist Glen Brady’s work which is termed as “outsider art”. I came across Glen’s work at Outsiderart.info and engaged in an exchange of emails with the very hel
Fine Art From Russia 2006-08-01 21:53:00
The other day I was very pleased to receive an email from Russia
. (Now, that’s not something you’ll hear many people say very often). Seriously though, instead of the usual spam originating from eastern Europe, this was a very nice email from a man named Oleg Yazykov. It just so happens that Oleg is an artist - in his own words - “I practise art as a fan, but not professional” Having spent time working with orphans in Oleg’s country, (and counting Kandinsky as one of my favourite artists of all time) I was intrigued and headed straight over to his website.
I’m glad that I did. Patchy translations aside, I found his work a delight. It has to be said that I am not normally likely to spend money on other artist’s original paintings. I would make an exception in the case of one particular piece on Oleg’s site which I absolutely adore. I have reproduced it here for your enjoyment - the painting is called Mistake of Arahna”

Back To Basics 2007-01-22 17:50:56 I am finally back in the warmth of my homeland and readjusting to the tropical weather - it’s really not so hard! I loved my time in the UK and there are so many  things I will miss but I am sure that once I have adjusted to ‘island time’ again I will be fine. I am already feeling the health benefits of the Cayman Islands climate.
Before leaving England I began work on a whimsical series of views of Cayman - the way I remember it from my childhood. There are three paintings so far and as they are so new they are as yet untitled. All are acrylic on canvas.
     Â
My hope is that once the series is completed that I will be able to produce an extensive catalogue of reproductions including cards, stationery, calendars and full size prints, probably giclees. I’d love to hear what people think about these pictures - are they worth pursuing? I think they have great commercial potential although being such a departure from what I really love doing it is h Read more:Basics

An Artist On The Go 2007-02-01 23:20:56 We’ve been back on Grand Cayman for nearly two weeks and it’s been a mixture of relaxation and all out frenetic activity! I’m working hard to get some of my work back out into the local arena and am hoping that I’ll soon have some my paintings on public display.
So many things have changed since my semi sabbatical in the UK. When we flew back, hubby insisted that we removed all stretched canvases from their frames, and after putting up a token fight, I agreed that it was probably sensible, even though it broke my heart to do it! I decided to stretch all the work myself only to find - horror of horrors - that the one supplier on the island where I knew I could buy a stretching tool had gone out of business. I’ve had to resort to making all the framework and stretching them by hand which is time consuming and rough on the poor pinkies. Even worse there is now absolutely no reliable supplier of art materials on the whole of Cayman!!! This includes paint and Read more:Artist
Reproductions Finally Here! 2007-02-10 04:35:06 Â
I’m back again and pleased to be able to say that I’ve had quite a lot of positive news in the past few days.
I have been working with the Geraldine at the Morgan Gallery since returning to Grand Cayman and am very excited about the latest developments. With the invaluable help of the gallery I am finally entering the giclee market. Having seen the quality of the prints I am more than happy to see reproductions of my work made available for sale and we have decided to start with my latest project, the series that I have decided to name “Bygone Cayman”. I have already shared a few of the paintings from this series on earlier posts but in view of the positive feedback already received, I have decided to leave the project open ended and will continue to add to the series on a fairly regular basis. The first six original pieces will be made available for sale this weekend at the celebration of art festival next to the Wharf Restaurant on Cayman and subsequ Read more:Finally

Another Cayman Blog 2007-02-18 01:57:01 At the end of another busy week I’ve managed to find time to sit and bring you up to date on a few more Grand Cayman
happenings!Â
First off, there is a new Cayman Blog on the block…..it’s in its early days but please pop over and visit Island Cowboy at his new blogger home -seems as though it will be a mixture of all kinds Cayman related chatter through the eyes of an ex pat. Could be interesting and there are always some nice island pictures to view.
Another bit of good news for me since returning home has been my first sale (of an original painting). I painted Mall Rats whilst in England and had already sold a similar styled work to a customer in Arizona. Since then Mall Rats has lived above our bed in the apartment in Helston. I picked it up on impulse last week and took it to show Geraldine at the Morgan Gallery - apparently a friend of hers saw it, fell in love with it, and bought it! It was one of those unexpected quick sales, because although I have a
