Best interview ever 2007-10-30 10:34:00 Today I had, at very short notice, my best interview
for a long time. It was for a degree course and although they didn't say I was on it I left with very positive comments from the guys. The course is work related and strangely the interview questions were almost but not quite the same as the questions on a job interview I totally messed up. This time my answers were direct and to the point and more than that I knew the answers unlike in the job interview when I went blank. It has been suggested that the difference may have been as simple as who was asking the questions, which is true.On the down side, last night whilst talking about the similarities between the two guys who I had long term relationships with I had to face facts that the likelihood of the second having been playing away is high and that I should've listened to my intuition about that at the time.I've since had a look for the photos that had upset me most about that incident and found all the photos that had originall

Not what you expect to find ... 2007-11-08 03:33:00 What do you expect to find when you Google an old friend? With most of my friends I don't expect to find them anywhere online, love them all as I do they just don't do the internet. What I don't expect to find is what I stumbled across last night whilst waiting for my man to finish work. I was bored, ready to go out and just waiting for the phone call to say I could leave home so I sat and searched facebook, then on a whim I changed the search to Google, up pops the name several times.I looked at the results and there were a couple of reviews, film reviews that is. Strangely I went and had a look and remembered a set of vampire teeth moulds that were sat on the side at one of his flats, I looked a little closer at the search results. What I found was shocking, I sat and watched a trailer to one of the films whilst talking to my mate back home (well talking might be the wrong word), I was cussing and making sounds of disgust whilst giving her a commentary on what I was seeing so in tur

Alternative medical treatment 2007-11-20 11:31:00 In 2003 I was on a bus that had to do an emergency stop, a week later my lower back was in agony. At the time I was a student nurse on my first placement in a general hospital with heavy patients, it got to the stage where I could hardly move and I couldn't feel my left leg with the exception of sciatic pain.
I went to the doctor, they said there was a 6 month waiting list for physiotherapy, at that stage I couldn't wait that long and went to see a chiropractor. In one visit she worked her magic and my back was as good as new.
Since then I have taken care, done my exercises to stretch my back and on occasion used ice packs to relieve it when I've felt it aching and have been scared that...

Retail therapy and a new party frock 2007-10-23 18:12:00 Over the past few weeks I seem to have gone on a spending frenzy , apart from needing to replace items that were lost or broken I've been buying things I wanted rather than needed, I have a new watch and a 4GB pen drive now as well as other items.
In a weeks time I will be going to a work mates leaving party, seeing as this is the first time I will be going out without having to worry about what time I get in or how my partner will react if I'm late I decided I needed a new party frock (to go with my many others hanging in the wardrobe).
The photo you see to the right is my new party frock and I just wanted to show it off to everyone who won't have the pleasure of seeing me on the...

Just a quick note on this one, I chose this image mainly for my current mood although that isn't actually one of loneliness; I think the image is more than just loneliness. This image also jumped out at me because of the wings, my old screen name on a forum I have recently been banned from and which I used to be a moderator of was obsidianbutterfly.

Personal revelations 2007-10-20 20:04:00 I realised yesterday that for so long I had been missing simple things like kissing, proper full on passionate kissing and being able to simply caress another person. I was recently told that I don't express my feelings.
It's true I don't communicate my feelings that well verbally but as soon as I can touch and caress my feelings seem very much understood and I find it easier to verbalise them as well. Yeah okay that's not good on any level but an intimate level but it was from an intimate view point the criticism came.
Saturday morning I almost fainted in fact I did faint and it was only for the fact that someone was right behind me and able to lower me into a chair that I did not hit...

A difference of views 2007-10-16 04:32:00 Prolicide the killing of offspring and infanticide the killing of an infant from birth to 12 months; the killing of ones own child is something that most people can’t get their head around.
In staff group sessions my co-workers have often said how upset they get about this issue if we have a patient who has committed such a crime, for myself I appear not to be effected by their crime to such degrees. Maybe it’s because I don’t have my own child to sit and look at and wonder how a mother could harm her own.
There have been two cases that I have had contact with that has really touched me; both mothers have attempted to kill themselves after the event yet both cases were so different. One...

Topsy-Turvy Life 2007-10-14 15:39:00 I've had a life changing few months, busy months at that.
Those who have been here before may know that along with my long term partner I was planning on buying and moving up North to Cumbria. For me that meant not only owning my own house but the possibility of starting a family seeing as we were moving out of the city and the house we had chosen was large enough.
The end of July came and the day for me to move out of my rented house and into my partners flat and shortly after, the deeds arrived for the house, there were issues we had with different items in the deed and he wanted to go back to college and I had opportunities coming up here. Together we decided to call the move off. In...

Anti-spam Post - Updated 2007-08-24 10:09:00 Okay just a few days ago I posted about my blog being spammed, well this is my pay back post to past and future spammers.
I'll begin by explaining about spam bots; they are much like web crawlers, the bots we rely on to get our blogs on the search engines, spambots however collect email addresses for the spammers to send you unsolicited email, the main reason you show your email address as an image on your page rather than regular text.
Mister Linky tells me that if the Mister Linky widget is getting spammed it is most likely by a real person not by a bot as bots can't handle java script very well, that real person and their website/company has an email address.
So this post will be...

Sailor ready to spike the cannons, Whitehaven Harbour, Cumbria, UK
Whitehaven has had guns for some 400 years defending the port and its once vital shipping trade. Many of the guns had started life on board the town's sailing ships; carried on board to protect the shipping from pirates and privateers that operated even in the Irish Sea.
The town's defences were started in 1639 when Sir Christopher Lowther was woken by news of invading Scots at Carlisle. He gave two pieces of ordnance and had the first battery platform built at Old Quay. This was replaced in 1741 by a new stone Fort.
Local historian Ralph Lewthwaite said: "Today,...

Lack of posts 2007-07-31 17:36:00 Recently I haven't been posting much and it's going to get less over the next few weeks.
Over the next three days I will finish packing and should hopefully move everything to the flat.
Then I have a few days left to clean before giving back the keys.
So there's just a quick what's going on for anyone who is wondering. Hopefully I'll be in full posting swing again soon.
This was posted on Sunday 22nd July, but made sticky.
Please scroll down just in case I posted anything newer.

Café De Paris, I wouldn't recommend it 2007-11-25 15:23:00 Last night was a mates birthday and we all went out, she paid £500 for a table in The Café De Paris
, in London's Piccadilly. The club itself is stunning as you can see from the photos (click images to enlarge), it's been open for some 90 years according to their website.
Unfortunately last night wasn't as good a birthday party as it should've been. We arrived at 10pm all of us were on a guest list and as I said my friend had paid £500 for the table. At this point one guy was turned away for wearing trainers, fair enough, then a second was turned away for wearing Timberland boots with a 'no hoodies comment' thrown in, now his jacket had a hood but he was smartly dressed and most certainly...
