The Tao Te Ching: A Way of Life 2007-08-07 16:18:06 “When a superior man hears of the Tao, he immediately begins to embody it. When an average man hears of the Tao, he half believes it, half doubts it. When a foolish man hears of the Tao, he laughs out loud. If he didn’t laugh, it wouldn’t be the Tao.” -Tao Te Ching

It has come to my attention, through various conversations of my own as well as some that other people have related to me, that the Tao Te Ching remains unknown to a very large portion of the population. Several people have asked me recently, which book has influenced me most in my life; my response is always the TTC and often I get blank looks. I realize that my path is less traveled, and I suppose we all get caught up in our own research; however, it’s a shame that this small collection of verses takes a back shelf in today’s world. The Tao is an enigma, no doubt; but regardless of one’s religion or personal philosophy, I highly recommend picking up a copy and givin
Thinking Blogger Award 2007-08-09 00:23:14
While checking in on my favorite sites and blogs on my reader last night, I discovered that Richard over at A Quiet Watercourse had nominated me for a Thinking Blogger
award. Thanks, Rich, for the generosity of spirit to add me to that list!! Richard’s thoughtful blog is always inspiring and I enjoy the read there. (I just want to note the cool description he added about me and this blog, “Imagine you are Neo, the words ‘Wake up Neo, the Matrix has you’ appear on your screen. Meet the woman doing the typing, Angela’s blog is truly eye and mind opening.” Wow!) Ever so humbly I am always amazed that people out there not only read my blog but GET IT!!
The award is a way to pass on ‘blog memes‘ over the Internet and I think it’s a great idea, especially when it involves blogs and writers one knows and respects rather than simple mass linking/spam which I know many sites do as well. In researching the award I already happened on Read more:Award
Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and Meteors; oh my! 2007-08-14 02:24:27 Sitting out on my porch tonight, enjoying the lovely sunset over the ocean and waiting for Hurricane Flossie, I saw a freakishly close meteorite (at least I think that’s what it was since I’ve not seen anything like that before) go down into the water, probably about 10 miles out, if that. I could see the large fireball streak down through the dusky sky, in a sort of serpentine curve, leaving a trail of white smoke in its wake. We live at altitude so I had a very good view. What’s weird is, it seemed to break apart as it came down, and one of the pieces just hung there in the sky, burning like a bright white piece of smoke or something, I don’t know; not moving, just hanging there, gradually streaking out horizontally as it was pulled by the wind. Maybe it was the setting sun behind a dense puff of smoke, but it sure looked weird. I watched it for about 20 minutes, half-expecting it to suddenly take off or something.
Ok, maybe I spend too much time o Read more:Hurricanes
Mind Wars: Ethics and Spiritual Ramifications of Neuroscientific Technologies 2007-08-11 17:31:17 “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” - Bob Marley
Mind control and other emerging neuroscientific technologies and weaponry constitute a frightening aspect of the future we presently inhabit. When one considers potential spiritual ramifications, as perhaps not all researchers and reporters do, it becomes clear that at the very least, awareness is crucial. The only question that remains is what we can do about it.
Information is not the problem. Even if we have access to only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what has been released to the public, one can write books on it. Recently, one person did; last year Dr. Jonathan Moreno, a bioethicist, published Mind Wars: Brain Research and National Defense. Granted, as a former government advisor on biodefense, and child of another Dr. Moreno, a psychiatrist known for his own questionable psychotherapeutic endeavors including human experiments with LSD in the ’50s and Read more:Ethics
Video of Strange Meteoric Flash 2007-08-17 20:44:55 I found video of what I saw the other day, right before the earthquake and the hurricane beginning to scatter. It was actually on the news here! So for those of you following this, here is a very short video on YouTube which is EXACTLY what I saw - this is it. Someone did apparently get it on video. Yesterday I spoke with other people who saw it, thought it was a UFO; according to them, there was more than one.

So Flossie was a bust (strangely not even a drop of rain or one harsh breeze where I live)…today I found out some other people here on the Big Island saw that strange meteoric flash in the sky (they think it was military flares), and even caught it on video, I’ll try and get it if I can, but talking about it since then, we wonder that it happened within about an hour before the earthquake, and within about an hour after that, the hurricane began to break apart – I was watching the satellite image almost continuously…anyway seems strange…

Financial Armageddon: Will the Amero be the false Messiah? 2007-08-19 22:43:05 I don’t claim to be an expert in economics by any means, but lately I’ve been putting myself through a crash course in an attempt to put recent events in perspective. Recent mainstream news has been full of depressing reports about the state of our economy and the dollar. Topping the headlines has been the mortgage industry, whose biggest companies, such as Countrywide, could be facing bankruptcy. Yesterday there was even a rush on the bank by customers fearful their money would be lost in the process. This is the downside of the real estate boom a couple of years ago; many people are unable to pay the rising costs of variable mortgages, and/or when they try to sell their homes, they discover their home is worth is less than the mortgage they carry.
This situation has global ramifications, since the world markets are so closely tied into each other. Recently several countries have been attempting to resuscitate the markets by infusing cash into the system, our o Read more:Financial

Kilauea Eruption Update 2007-08-25 16:54:24 Our volcano has been on the news again. The eruption which started July 21 is making its way north this time, very slowly, in the direction of a few small communities. Therefore concerns are heightened, understandably. The Honolulu Advertiser recently published this article stating there were no immediate dangers; and this new site was just established to keep us all up to date. Scroll down to check out the map and see the direction of the new flow; scary! Good reason to be glad I don’t live in that area, gorgeous though it is. Read more:Eruption

I’m not the only one here in Hawaii who found it strange that during the ‘hurricane’, satellite radar showed cloud cover when I looked outside and saw sunny skies. It has been the topic of conversation in town and I’m pretty convinced there was something going on there (HAARP, anyone?). Apparently Hurricane Erin also acted strangely. And check out this article (with videos) about strange lights that appeared before the earthquake in Peru recently; here’s the follow-up. A Kean Eye also informs us about the strange ‘hurricane pamphlets’ sent to NYC’s residents just days before a huge storm brought the city to a grinding halt. And seriously. A lot of big earthquakes lately.

Hawaiian Superferry: Tourist Transport or Military Menace? 2007-08-28 05:37:43 The Hawaiian
Superferry is in troubled waters. The recently completed vessel went on its maiden voyage today to the consternation of many protesters; surfers actually blocked the ferry from docking in Kauai until the Coast Guard got involved. A judge on Maui issued a restraining order today blocking the ferry from docking in Maui’s harbor, just hours after its second trip there. Environmentalists want extensive impact studies and reviews completed before the Superferry begins its routes.
While many here look forward to an alternative mode of interisland transport, others are concerned about spreading invasive species, endangering whales and increasing pollution as well as straining an already suffering infrastructure (traffic congestion, no parking, crumbling harbors and highways). These paddlers on Maui weren’t prepared for the large, disruptive wake from such a fast ship.
Why all the fuss? The airlines are already in a fare war so they’re probably Read more:Military

The Paradigm Police 2007-08-26 18:12:43 “They definitely do not want us to learn to Surf the Tao, for then we would no longer be victims to their abuse.” - Surfing the Tao: A Revolution of Free Will
My husband, who is a bit older than I am, commented this morning that if someone went to sleep in 1950 and woke up today, they’d think the world had gone frigging insane. I suppose you could say that about any stretch of time in history, but as I pondered his frustration I realized in this case, he really could be correct.
Since most of us haven’t been asleep for decades, we generally absorb the changes and news as they come without too much trouble. The paradigm shift happens slowly, so that most people don’t really notice it’s happening until they look back and remember what used to be. Certainly there are major events that shift the paradigm rapidly and radically, like 9/11, and can be a bit more difficult to adjust to. But just consider news from the past few years – genetically Read more:Paradigm

Mahalo! 2007-08-26 14:14:22 Aloha and happy Sunday. Just want to pass on my thanks to Joy and Brenda at Kona Stories for my book signing yesterday. Can you believe, after four years it was my first and only book signing? Well, it’s not like I went out looking for one; I am kind of a hermit anyway. But their bookstore has really been getting me out of the house lately - I enjoy the book clubs, and we also just started a writer’s group there and what a great group it is! Amazing the variety of creative talent on this island. I think in many respects those types are attracted to living here; not sure why, maybe the ‘creative’ energy of the volcano, which is constantly creating new land, or maybe that our community is remote and rural enough to collect the alternative types who prefer the powerful, unusual energy here to the crowded, hyper energy of living in a more populated place. I might say that only radical people make the radical move to live way out in the middle of the ocean, bu

What on earth is a senator doing engaging in sex of ANY kind in a public restroom? It’s as if they’ve been brainwashed or something…hey, now that’s an interesting thought…

The Tao of Where 2007-09-26 04:40:16
On any journey of self-discovery and seeking the unknowable, one cannot help but notice the inextricable and inevitable influence of place upon progress-to-date – until, of course, one reaches the place of no-place.
Though my own metaphysical journey started in Los Angeles, it quickly became clear that at least for me, further advancement wasn’t going to be easy there; I had to get out. Not to mention that I had, during this initiatory period, stepped foot on this island for the first time and was simply changed forever. Frankly I couldn’t get back here fast enough.
Certain places on the globe seem to resonate with different people for whatever reason; one friend is currently finding solace in the Southwest, another longs for home in Switzerland while away on business, while yet another perhaps more gypsy soul is currently in debate with this particular crazy rock. The ancients knew certain locations resonated with specific planetary energies, and

I’ve been asked to moderate a metaphysical book club at our local bookstore, and while I truly enjoy reading anything in this genre, not everyone agrees with my choices. It’s funny; our regular book club seems happy enough to give new titles a shot – I mean, isn’t that the point of a book club? To read things you might not have read otherwise? We’ve had some rousing discussions about some incredible books, always enjoyable as a result of the wine in which we indulge! But for this genre, for some reason, people are VERY opinionated. Plus there’s the issue of, what IS a “metaphysical” book – is it just “new age” or quantum spirituality, or does it include things like religion, witchcraft, the occult, UFOs and alternative history and co

A Kean Eye points out that yet again, a fierce hurricane is coupled with a big earthquake. It seems he was also right about the “lights in the sky” - note this most recent hurriquake phenomenon, as so aptly coined by Mr. Matthams during the last round, was also in fact accompanied by not just strange lights in the sky over the Jersey shore this weekend and a few days earlier in Oregon, but another meteor shower. Hm. Check out this fireball sightings log over at the “American Meteor Society” and this story from Hurricane Dean and a Mexican community which believes UFOs protect them from hurricanes.
Also did you notice the news about Mexican truckers being allowed on US highways? Interesting that happens just days after the summit and on Labor Day weekend to boot. Score one for the SPP and the coming economic union; as if we didn’t notice.

On Friday, Lorenzo blew the roofs off 2000 houses and drove tens of thousands of people from their homes in Mexico, killing three; in Finland, a spectacular “superbolide” meteor lit up the skies; and in the Mariana Islands, a 7.4 earthquake. Also on Friday bizarre weather in western New York, including hail, and a waterspout over downtown Buffalo. Two more large earthquakes today, another one in the Mariana Islands region of 7.1, and a 7.3 in the Auckland Islands, as Hurricane Melissa formed in the Atlantic.
Science Daily reported on Thursday, “Storm quickly grows into Hurricane Lorenzo: Hurricane Lorenzo, after growing from a tropical depression in less than a day, was headed towards Mexico late Thursday.” On September 29 The Roanoke Times reported, “Since Hurricane Humber

Surfing Quetzalcoatl 2007-10-22 18:09:28 Journalist Daniel Pinchbeck, self-proclaimed cynic and son of Beatnik parents, transversed the realms of the psychic and the psychedelic, as well as his own personal drama, to bring us his version of the Eschaton in his book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl. His scholarly prose is punctuated with radical, apocalyptic refrains which underscore his own revelations as to the immanent arrival of something both terrifying and wonderful. If he is correct, our near future contains the potential for both catastrophe and conscious enlightenment, a view I happen to share to some extent.
Whether this transformation will occur in one simultaneous event on December 21, 2012 remains to be seen. However Mr. Pinchbeck threw himself to the wolves in this book, revealing not just his own relationship issues, self-doubt and twisted shamanic journeys, but a full-on prophetic experience of Quetzalcoatl himself and a vision of our future perhaps only a very small handful of people are willing to c Read more:Surfing

Often it is his words that teach and soothe me above all others. I found the following essay, “Pagal” or “The Mad Spirit” from an earlier work Bangadarshan, which he reprinted in his book, “Of Myself”. This essay was written during his middle years, when the peace and tranquility of his early life was shattered by both his ever-increasing fame as well as the war and upheaval in the world at the time. About these lessons he further explains, “The consciousness that makes our soul know itself arises through obstacles, pulling down the walls of our habits and comfort. The consciousness that liberates us…’is a perilous path, so say the seers’”.
