Stock Options...
2006-10-17 18:45:10
This is a very rare practice in Singapore to give out stock options to the employees. Unless they are exceptionally good workers, most singaporean companies do not have this practice, even if it will not be among the Execs. However, today I was presented with some Stock Options of the Company, I wonder if this is good or bad. Good Means, I have some shares in the company now. Bad means, It is basically worthless papers unless we are listed.Since we are not far from it with the current outlook of the Vista Project, I guess, it might be good news. The bad is, I can only fully cash out all the options after Oct 18, 2008. If we IPO or get transfered to a holding company, then the options might be diluted. What does this means, it means, if I hang on in here, chances are if the company gets IPO/listed, I have a good sum of money, enough to pay off a car and housing loans, if not, I am stuck with a few pieces of worthless papers. It also means, I have to cheong hard in order to see the company

New Company Policies
2006-10-12 09:13:43
To all Employees:Effective January 2007 Dress Code 1. It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary. If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a pay raise. 2. If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a pay raise. 3. If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a pay raise. Sick Days We will no longer accept a doctor's certificate as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work. Holiday Days Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturday & Sunday. Compassionate Leave This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends, relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend to the arrangements. In rare cases where emp

Farewell M. Schumi
2006-10-11 10:39:52
Well, Certainly this man is a great one in the history of Formula One, having beaten the long standing records of F1 history and rewriting so many of them. True, there might be some controversies in the way he won some of the races, but a win's a win.Anyway, Here we are, a few days before the last race of his career. Let's see his standings so far. He has to win the Brazilian Round and Alonso fail to score a single point. While this is a tough job, we can only hope Michael ends his career with a bang with the 8th Championship win. Here are the records for 2006 so far. This is truly a reason to be supporting the Reds.Go Ferrari. I ought to be wearing the Ferrari's Shirt during that race to show M.Schumi my support on his last race of the career. As of the 2006 Japanese Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher holds the following F1 records:Career Records: • Most championship titles: 7 • Most consecutive championship titles: 5 • Most race wins: 91 • Most consecutive race wins:

Stage Fright....
2006-10-08 19:48:45
Years ago, when I had to perform in my kindergarten's end of year concert, I had a massive stage fright despite being all excited up to the very moment I had to step out and face the audience. You know, the heart tumbling, mouth dry, stammering, butterflies in the stomach, etc .....This is otherwise known as the "fight or flight" syndromes....Over the years....the many competitions in Micromouse, Inter-Class Debates, Swimming competitions, Taekwando tournaments and even the days in Nikon as a Seminar presentor and trainer....the initial leap to face the audience is easily overcome. It took lots of toughening up.If you ask me today, to preach on my ideas or a topic to a group of people up to 300-500 people, it should not even be a problem for me. If you ask me to do a 1-1 demonstration and discussion with a stranger, I might be able to do it without even my heart beating faster. However, today, I faced what every other guy would face one day. Meet the Parents. Yes, I met Hilda's Parents

The Haze will go on and on....
2006-10-07 12:35:15
Ladies and Gentlemen....*cough cough*......ahem...sorry......Welcome to *sniff sniff* Singapore ah.We are sorry for the current situation that the haze got so bad, it hit unhealthy range today at 10am at 130. The highest recorded haze PSI level was at 226 back in 1997.Those *sniff*...who just visited us over the IMF/WB Wayang Period, you are very lucky. Singapore was probably at it's best period then, with Roads and Shopping malls done up nicely. Air Quality was good. *cough*....and you smell Singapore at it's best, not laced with a smoky, burnt smell....*cough cough.....*It seems like our neighbours who keep promising to stop this "slash and burn" plantation methods have not done their job well enough. They used to blame those *cough sniff* small time farmers for starting the fires and the dry season. They always say so in the past. However, an independent study done by Greenpeace, it seems like the ministry of forestry have not been doing their job, and it usually those big papermil

Haze gets in your eyes.....
2006-10-06 16:37:15
They, asked me how I knew,My allergies are true,I of course replied, something here inside, Can not be denied. They, said some day you'll find, All is said but lies,When the forest's on fire, you must realize, Haze gets in your eyes.So I chaffed them, and I gaily laughed, To think they would doubt our health,And yet today, my health has gone away,I am without my health. Now laughing friends deride,Tears I cannot hide,So I smile and say, when a lovely flame dies,Haze gets in your eyes,Haze gets in your eyes.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Every night in my dreamsI see you, I smell you,That is how I know you go onFar across the distanceAnd spaces between usYou have come to show you go onNear, far, wherever you areI believe that the heart does go onOnce more you open the doorAnd youre here in the hazeAnd the haze will go on and onFire can touch us one timeAnd last for a lifetimeAnd never let go till were g

2006-10-06 09:54:15

Oceanic released a HUD Mask.....
2006-09-29 05:07:32
Imagine diving without having bulky and dangling guages around, and without lifting a hand, you can see your depth, pressure and other details.....Oceanic teams up with the US Navy to come up with this...very nice indeed. See the Small LCD at the bottom right corner. It's the HUD or Head Up Display Unit. Cool eh?I wonder how much it cost for one...and I am sure it would be "OUCH!" to have someone kick it off your face when finning. For more details: visit http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/p_computers_iddm.html

Job Interview....
2006-09-27 10:19:56
Firstly to begin....GOD is Good! Amen.2 mths ago, I got disappointed with this present job and its prospects that I decided to start looking for a new job.I dropped in my resume with Canon as they were recruiting for Digital Imaging Trainer (domestic market).Since that was closely related to my previous job in Nikon, I thought I should stand a good chance.Over the last 2 mths, I waited and waited.....dropped in a few more resumes in the meantime but did not stop to hope and pray for Canon's opening. I was just sharing with Sister Elaine Wan last saturday on this, and we prayed for open doors in various areas. Then the phone rang while I was driving downtown on monday evening. It was a call from another Elaine, Canon's HR staff. Surprise Surprise. Not only did I not secured an interview after 2 long mths of waiting, they actually put me up for consideration for Regional Digital Imaging Trainer, that's a match to my previous job in Nikon, and on top of that, It was not a position that

Tips for Saving on a Wedding
2006-09-11 07:56:10
The average American wedding costs $19,000 for about 200 guests. Add on another $3,500 for your average honeymoon, and getting hitched can really break the bride and bridegroom. But your big day doesn't have to come at a big cost.Duffy Winters says she can cut at least $9,500 from your wedding budget. Her ideas go way beyond reducing the guest list and opting for the off-season. She's got some really imaginative ideas that cut corners without skimping on splendor. Our three favorite "proposals":1. Cut the cake: She doesn't ask you to cut it out entirely, just reduce its size. Save by buying a small, beautifully decorated cake for the photos, and serve guests pieces of a plain sheet cake.2. Mum's the word: Don't buy into the "wedding" hype. Says Winters, anything - be it a dress, shoes, flowers, whatever - with the word "wedding" attached to it can instantly fetch a 25%-plus premium. So buy what you want. Just don't tell them it's for a wedding.3. Friends and

Fallacies about Steve Irwin and Rays
2006-09-08 09:45:07
A few things to offload and clarify.1. Steve Irwin died as a result of a Stingray's Barb striking into this chest and heart. NOT Manta Rays.2. Class95 DJ Glenn Ong suggested that Manta Rays are a result of Steve's Death, that's false.3. Not all rays have stinging barbs.4. Manta Rays, not like rumours spreading around the web, do not have a layer of toxins coated on their bodies nor do they have stinging barbs5. Eating more BBQ rays is not an act of taking revenge for Steve but it is an act of allowing the BBQ seafood store to make more $$$ as well as for more blubber to gather in your body.6. Steve Irwin might be a Hero to most people, but to true conservationist, he is tempting nature too much. If you ask me, he deserves it. 7. The Species of Ray that is involved in Steve's Death is a Bull Ray, not Manta Ray.8. Reports have it that Steve pulled out the Barb before losing conciousness.9. Reports have it that Steve is not aware of his bleeding. 10. John Stainton said Steve pulled ou

Our Dear Gahmen
2006-08-31 11:12:42
A few articles ago, I spoke about the Gahmen's wanting shops to open later...How i rant about the stupid idea....Coz of more tired workers, higher overheads, less home time, less babies (contradicting with their "want" for more babies")Now they want Childcare to open later......This is absolutely madness, another group of already very tired workers is to be slapped with longer worker hours.Note: all those working in these affected industries are of lower income range. So is the Gahmen trying to overwork the already poorly paid people? Are they trying to benefit the highly paid workers? Can't the Offices release parents earlier instead if a conducive family environment and relationships? Won't that be more excuses for companies to ask Staff to work longer hours too? Some issues:1. Are we taken as Breeders? We are told to "make babies" to support aging populations. Yet longer working hours means less time with Families.2. Children at Childcare can be there from as early as 7am to 7pm. 1

(This entry will be typed in Singlish with regards to the Good English Movement in Singapore)I is very unhappy today. 1st time first lor, for the past few months, we have been telling our partners to inform their client that their publication will not work in the new release of Microsoft's Browser, IE 7.Not only did our partner not do their jobs properly, or just too diplomatic, the client never changed their way of editing their contents, and resulted in many months of publications not working with the new versions of IE.I did me job of complaining to our partners and asking them to get their client to do something about it. however, a certain manager in our office, being a kan cheong spider, and smart alec, decided that we can do it by asking our president to talk to them. however, the talk did not get thru and instead, the kan cheong spider and the president called the client directly, bypassing the partners.I was called into the phone conference as they wanted me to explain the te

Verdict: 3.5/5Only "exciting" Ride was the Space Mountain, even so, it was mild, compared to those at Ocean Park. However, it is a childhood fantasy to visit Disneyland , land of animation and cartoons. It was a day in immerse into the fantasy land of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Stitch, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.Spoiler of the day was the arrogant China Man who jumped queue and yet have the cheek to tell the employee of Disneyland off.Lots of Filipinos and Indonesian Chinese around. Another Irksome Scene saw was on the train ride back from Disney. A middle eastern family (very obvious from the dressing of the ladies) were sitting on a row of seats on the train, which is okay. Beside the "wife" were 2 young ladies, seemingly local. At one of the stops the 2 young ladies got off and 2 young man saw the empty seats and sat down, right next to the "wife". The "wife" immediately made a face and got her husband to change the seats with her. My Take is: if it is so "haram" to even s
