Goof Balls 2007-06-25 20:40:09 As I sit here trying to type, Levi is rolling around upside down on the couch and rroo rooing. He is such a goof ball. What a great personality he has. He is barking because he wants something, but I don’t know what. He does that when he wants food.
Anyway, Levi, Chase and me went to practice at the agility field today. It was great. Levi’s weaves were gorgeous. No poll popping. No hesitation. Got his entries and was fast all the way through. My trainer thinks he just gets burned out trialing. He is not a big high energy dog and can use up his energy fast. So taking a break for these next three weeks will be good.
Chase is doing well also. We worked around equipment and did all of our fun exercises. I am really happy with his progress. Much more focus. Good contact on the teeter right in front of a tunnel.
I think instead of group classes, for a while we are going to rent the agility area for a while and just practice the things we need to. Group classes are great, but Read more:Balls
Come to Park City Utah! 2007-06-25 20:21:49 Hey.. have you ever been to Park City, Utah? It is so gorgeous. And you know, I speak from personal experience because I have been there because I live close by, in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can even bring your dogs if they are well mannered and on leash.
A Park City Utah vacation might be just the thing you need. Not only is there skiing and shopping, there are beautiful mountains to hike through. We have not been hiking much this summer, but we really need to go more.
Both summer and winter are great seasons to vacation in Park City. Summer is green with hiking, camping, reservoirs, and many things to do. Winter there is, of course, skiing. I used to ski a lot as a kid. Now I do dog things instead, but skiing is a great form of exercise and it is no nice being out in nature.
Come visit us for vacation!
Good Email 2007-06-25 20:16:03 Well, I dropped Mac off on Saturday up in Logan. And he seemed happy when I left him. I left his Wubba, too. Which their other dog proceeded to pick up and carry around squeaking.
Anyway, the kids seemed to like him, and the other dog seemed to be okay with him. Mac starts to mount to play, and I worry about that.. but their other dog seemed okay with it. He just needs to put Mac in his place which hopefully will happen.
Their other dog has epilepsy. They only recently found out, a few months ago, so are experimenting with meds. I respect them for doing so well for their other dog. The only thing that might be bad is if their other dog gets more seizures because of having Mac there. If that happens, we will take him back. Hopefully it will be okay.
I got an email from them today.. it really sounds like Mac is fitting in very well. Already sleeping on the one son’s bed, and going for walks. So that is a very good thing! Cross your fingers for Mac!

I get a 16×20 Photo! 2007-06-25 17:41:32 I am completely excited. Since I’ve been participating with PayU2Blog, I’ve been taking some of their opportunities, and I’ve been lucky enough to get an opportunity that gives me a free 16×20 photo! And I’ve finally decided, after long deliberation, which photo to use.
I love this picture of Levi and Chase at dog camp by Tahoe in September 2006. I love how Chase is in motion, and Levi is still. Just so typical of them.
Canvas On Demand does photo enlargement and puts the photos on canvas to be displayed in your home. And so I get this picture done for me, and I will definitely post and let you know how it worked out!

Done for the Day 2007-06-24 20:55:37 Okay I’m done with Link Love for the day.. back to dogs. I wanted to get more link love done but I got distracted with Luna Tail and putting in another template so I didn’t get as many posts in as I wanted to.
Anyway, while fixing up Luna Tail I also looked at it in IE.. which I always forget to do, and then looked at Pixie Tail and this blog, too, in IE.. well, Pixie is okay, but this blog is not… figures. Can’t everyone just get Firefox? LOL. Anyway, maybe tomorrow I’ll have time to look at fixing this one up in IE. For now, I’m tired and nearly ready for bed… quick movie first, I think.
I have training tomorrow with Chase and Levi which should be fun. We are taking Chase to the agility field to see how his focus work has been going!
Plus 1 2007-06-24 14:41:02 I like the name of this blog… Plus 1. Some people are just so creative with names. And she has some interesting topics… one is about roller coasters and their dangers. I used to love roller coasters, before I was in 2 rollovers on the freeway. Now they just make me feel like I’m going to die. So I don’t do them much any more. When I was a kid I didn’t think of death much, I was one of those immortal teenagers. But as I get older, I get more mortal every day.
She has another blog, too, Girly Things. Very nice layout, again, and fun name. And she talks about bit sized reading, which I can relate too. I don’t seem to have time to read much anymore. However, I do plan on sucking down Harry Potter Seven when it comes out.
Feeding Time at the Zoo 2007-06-24 14:29:33 He he, that is what I feel like when we have two fosters and a dog we are babysitting around here. The zoo, and they like to eat a lot! Feeding
Time at the Zoo
has a super nice layout, love the colors too. It’s all about great food and recipies and things. And a wonderful Thai Coffee Recipe that I must check out, because I really do love coffee.
Stepping Up 2007-06-29 08:24:51 Well, I might get smacked and stuck in a hole for this, but I started a Yahoo Group for the Utah Tailblazers Flyball club.
Utah Tailblazers Yahoo Group
Per some recent issues, I really think the team needs better communication. I’m not willing to leave the team, but I’m willing to step up and try to improve it. I mean heck, a team is a team and if people bow out instead of working for changes, then it just falls apart no?
I think it’s best to know the status of the dogs on the team, where they are in training, new dogs that are showing up to beginning practice, and what teams are forming and what dogs are doing well together. That’s not too much to ask, is it?

Looking for a Friend? 2007-06-28 21:10:30 You know, even dog people need human friends once in a while. Is it true? Yes it’s true! LOL. And sometimes it can be really had to find friends. When I was dating, before I got married, I actually signed up for an online dating service. And I almost met someone. I went to the restaurant, and saw him, and go freaked out and shy, so I left. He didn’t even know I was there.
Though sometimes I’ve thought it would be fun to just make girlfriends online. With FriendFinder you can meet both men and women, and hopefully find some people who like dogs.
I think once we are out of school, either grade school or college, it gets really hard to meet people. We see the people we work with every day, but dating at work is usually not a good idea. So finding online friends where you can see the things you have in common is a great way to meet people.
Would I meet a man online again? I don’t know. Maybe. I would meet a woman online, though. I think I trust women mo
*sigh* 2007-06-28 19:23:09 Well, not sure if we are going to St. George this weekend for flyball. It seems there are not enough dogs to make up two teams for Laramie, and I did say that we will go to St. George only if we can be in a team in Laramie.
It’s not worth the drive all the way down there if we aren’t going to be on a team in Laramie. Kinda makes me mad. Hrmph.
Pads Again 2007-06-28 14:56:20 Well Chase’s pads seem to be doing okay today. I still hope they will be okay for flyball this weekend. He only runs Sunday but will do warmups on Saturday. I will make a call Friday night and if I think he’s not good enough to go then we won’t be going. I hope we can go, though.
I had him on the couch last night applying Vitamin E on his pads. I also put a little of the stuff Johann recommended. It said it could cause allergies so I just did a tiny bit because I don’t want Chase, with all his allergies, to have a reaction. He seems okay.
He gets to sit on the couch while I put it on him. All our home furniture is for the dogs. They get the couches and the beds. But they do have to share with us!

Dog’s Aye View - Thursday Meme 2007-06-27 21:38:42 This Thursday
’s Meme is here! And I thought a good site for Tip Tail to review this week was The Dogs’ Aye View 10K. Over there is a blog that is written by a couple of very cool rescue dogs, Gomer and Opie… Ooo I love the names. Too cute of an idea for their names.
And their Mom had a great idea for their one year blogging anniversary. And I’m going to copy and paste the details here so I don’t get it wrong:
———
THE FIRST ANNUAL DOGS’ AYE VIEW 10K:
We wanna make pawprints all over the world and celebrate our success by giving back to the people who helped to rescue us and those who work hard every day to rescue other animals from the streets or from bad situations. So, will you enter the Dogs’ Aye View 10K and help us out? It’s simple… just run around your keyboard …
For every visitor* to the blog over the next 10 days (from Tuesday, June 26 till Friday, July 6), dogmom is going to donate 10 cents to
I’m a Soft Dog 2007-06-27 21:34:01 Ugh… well, I’ve been baptized into the ‘got yelled at by…’ club at flyball practice tonight. I knew it was coming, and I kinda thought it might be tonight since Chase’s feet are hurt and we couldn’t run. We want to go do flyball in Laramie the end of July, and I guess we needed to get times tonight, but Chase couldn’t get times because he can’t run because of his feet.
So I was yelled at. And, like I was 6, I handled it for a few minutes then had to leave because, despite my best efforts, I started to cry. And it was a weird cry because really I was okay inside, I couldn’t quite stop the tears.
I still like the person who yelled at me. I understand she has a short temper and gets angry at lots of people. I don’t want to be treated that way. And the more stressed she gets, the more she yells. Like I said, though, I still like her and respect her, I just don’t like that about her.
Anyway, I have to laugh now.
What Breed of Dog Are You? 2007-06-27 16:39:20 I really really tried to get it to say collie but didn’t find the right combo! So this is me.

Boston Terriers 2007-07-02 20:34:24 Maybe I should start a new series of posts about different dog breeds. I love learning about different breeds. My favorite are the herding breeds, but there is one group of dogs that has so many varieties it’s amazing. That’s the terrier group. I have been watching a number of different terriers in agility lately. Up in Blackfoot I was completely impressed by a very fast, accurate, cute and sweet Boston
Terrier.
I will admit it, terriers scare me! I was just admitting this to a friend earlier today, as a matter of fact. Oh they don’t scare me like maybe they would bite me or threaten me in any way. Instead they scare me in that they are a handful, and would be a challenge to train. And heck, my border collie is challenge enough for me right now. My obedience trainer has often told me that she wants her next dog to be a Boston Terrier. She has Belgian Malinois now. She says she would love to train a different breed of dog, a small dog, to expand her knowledge of do
Fireworks 2007-07-02 17:26:04 It’s only a couple of days away from the fourth of July. Ugh. I guess a lot of people like fireworks, but at our house we really don’t. I’d rather use leisuretime vip and get away during this time of year. However, we probably couldn’t take the dogs. And it’s the dogs that I really want to get away from all the noise.
Angel hates the fireworks the most. She pants and paces around the house. Usually ends up in the basement standing around looking awful. She doesn’t panic. She doesn’t run around. Instead she just calmly paces to show her stress. Poor girl. We tried Rescue Remedy on her, but it didn’t help. So today I went to the vet and got something stronger. We used it last year and it helped her a lot. Just made her drowsy and she slept through.
We already had fireworks last weekend. And I’m sure we’ll get more all week. And here in Utah we have the 24th, which is the State version of the holiday, so it gets to happen all Read more:Fireworks
Slow Week 2007-07-02 10:34:14 Well, because of the 4th holiday this week we don’t have any dog training. Which will be good, Chase’s feet need to rest, and sometimes a week off is good for me, the human, too. Not sure if we are going to go out on the 4th, and if so where, or just stay home. I wonder if any of our friends have an outdoor fireplace, because that’d be perfect for the holiday.
We might get a foster dog in today, not sure yet. A collie, or a big sheltie. I guess it’s under debate. Or we might just get a collie. Either way I think both are young, and young is good. Young is easy to place. People want young dogs.
I think Mac and Sammy are still doing well too, which is super wonderful.
Happy with Chase - Agility 2007-07-01 21:43:52 Oh My Gosh.
Did I say I was going to an agility fun match today? I don’t remember. I should go read my old post. LOL. Since St. George didn’t work out I took the boys up to Kelley Creek Farm. They were having a herding trial, and an agility ring set up, and dock diving and swimming in the pond.
So I ran Levi through and when he did all 12 weaves beautifully, he got a nice jackpot right in the ring. I was very happy with him. I love to watch that collie weave.
But who I’m even more happy with is Chase. Oh. My. Gosh. This focus work has been paying off. It was the most wonderful run we have ever had. He paid attention. He got all his contacts. He listened to me and used his brain. They’d set up a USDAA Grand Prix course. He would easily have Qualified!
It was a super hard twisty course, but Chase flowed so nicely our run was just about effortless. He turned when I said, came when I said. Wow! I really hope this is how it works in a trial.
I only ran him once becau Read more:Happy
Home 2007-06-30 13:08:36 Well, I’m home. I canceled my hotel reservation. We’ll have to see how things go. Maybe I’ll get kicked off the team, I hear some are pretty mad at me. But like I said, it’s not worth it to travel down there just to help out. Chase’s feet are still sore, too. He is still favoring them, so I don’t think I’d run him tomorrow on the mats.
I hope that I won’t need any drug rehab once they get back, maybe I’ll get chewed out. Well, my life doesn’t depend on it. Worst thing is I’m not on the team anymore. Which really isn’t any skin off my back, and would just mean less stress in life.
I am going to try that agility fun match tomorrow. If Chase’s feet aren’t up to par then he can go swimming or play on the grass. It’ll be sooo good for Levi’s weaves!
Weekend 2007-06-29 16:02:08 Well, I haven’t canceled my hotel reservation yet.. but I really should. I will tonight or tomorrow. I’m not going to St. George Utah for Flyball this weekend. I’m sad. I wanted to hang out with my new friends, try out U-FLI and hang out with Chase. But alas, hopefully we will be able to go to one in the future or even next summer. And Chase’s doubles spot might be filled by another dog so that will be good.
I’m glad I won’t have to drive for five hours to get there. And I hope to go to an agility fun match instead. My collie Levi needs to have fun matches so he can get better at his weaves in the ring. And rewarding him in the ring for weaving is such a bonus. He’s my agility collie and he is completely fun to run!
And Chase will also get to run, I think. We can practice everything we have learned over that last couple of months about focus and control. So we’ll see how he does. And if I can walk him to the start line with treats fo Read more:Weekend
Faith on Rescue Me! 2007-07-06 13:11:26 My good friend Johann who is also a rescue, and has a rescue blog of his own (he’s a dog, if ya didn’t know), has gotten Faith
up on the Rescue
Me blog website.
It’s great to see her information get out there! She kept us up last night with whining. And again, she gets too excited outside to actually potty. So my husband, good guy that he is, got up at 11pm with her and took her out and was out there for at least 10 minutes. She did poop, so that’s good. Me, I don’t like to let dogs out of crates when they whine, because it just teaches them whining gets them out. But sometimes it’s hard to tell when they really do need to potty, and when they just want out!
Reactor Cor 2007-07-05 19:43:02 I would love to try more Disc Dog! This is Cor, we met her at dog camp last September. She lives in Denver and does lots of Disc Dog! I love this shot.
She is a tri aussie, oh, over a year old now. She was 8 months last September. If I could do math I could figure that out but I’m going to leave it up to you.
She is an aussie that is a bundle of energy. Not for the faint of heart, she is lucky to have gone to a performance home. She is one of those dogs that would run circles around people in a pet home. She would swim in Lake Tahoe for a long time, go for runs, work obedience and sheep, and still want more. She’s as nutty as Chase.
I can’t wait to see her again this year! Oh, and her Mom, too.

A Girl’s Best Friend 2007-07-05 19:14:35 Well, as you know, my dogs are really my best friends. Well and my husband, of course. though coming in not far down on the list for me is jewelry, and diamonds. I love diamond rings, and I love to look at stunning diamond engagement rings that sparkle in the firelight.
I like diamond rings because I can wear them, and they are very durable. And this website has great quality rings. I am rough on my rings. Rough on my diamonds. And I always need ones that will withstand all my rough dog activities. So go check out their testimonials, too, and see how much people like these guys.
Gotta Love Puppies 2007-07-05 08:38:31 Yup, Faith is definitely a pup. She’s about a year old. She is as sweet as pie, we just adore her. Levi and Chase aren’t too sure but we are keeping them mostly separate. Unless we are outside, and she is leaving them alone so that is a good thing. They need their space.
Faith thinks that if anyone walks around she should be out of the crate. And she has a very annoying whine. She thinks when my alarm goes off the first time it’s time to get up… usually I hit snooze about 3 times LOL. Got up early today. She thinks she should not be left in a room without a human in it. And she can jump a baby gate to prove it. She thinks it’s too exciting outside to potty, so forgets to do so and poops in the house. Though she’s only done that once.
She’s a very sweet girl. She is good for us to have, since we have never fostered a pit. And I will admit it, I am wary about pits. Mostly because of their reputation, and I want to get over that myself so Read more:Gotta
North Carolina 2007-07-04 21:49:44 Back east there are more smooth collies than there are here out west. I would love to go back east sometime for Collie Nationals and see all the collies there. When I retire, my husband and I are going to drive around and find the best place for us to live. If we go back east we’ll check out Charlotte Real Estate and see what it is like there.
My friend at work would be jealous if we ended up in one of the Charlotte Golf Homes. I tried golfing once… the main word being tried, and wasn’t too good at it. But to find a beautiful golf home, Charlotte Real Estate can help.
A friend of my parents lived in Charlotte, but moved back here to Utah about a year ago. And I believe Collie Nationals was in Charlotte this year… or will it be there next year? I’m not sure, I don’t quite remember. It’s been a year since we went to Collie Nationals and I had so much fun, I really wish we could go again. But my collies wouldn’t fly, Levi would not like Read more:North

Drugs are In 2007-07-04 20:38:36 Angel and Chase have both been drugged for the fireworks. The park they are going to do them in tonight is very close to our house, probably not more than two miles away. Yesterday night they did them at a different park. I didn’t know they were going to.
So hopefully Angel and Chase will just be sleepy when the fireworks start and not be upset about them. Ugh.

A Potential Biter 2007-07-04 16:23:38 The worst thing about rescue is getting in a dog that could possible bite someone, or has already bitten someone. Well, there is a dog with sheltie rescue right now, he’s either a collie or a sheltie the debate is still out, that has gone ofter his foster Mom. Second time he broke skin.
He was pulled from a shelter. I haven’t met him yet, but the question in the air is of euthanasia. As horrible as that is, we can’t place a potential biter. Not only is it too dangerous, we also could get sued. So sheltie rescue is keeping me in the loop.
When I started collie rescue I made a pact with myself. I can’t take aggressive dogs. I don’t have the resources, and I have to keep my family, and other families, safe. It would break my heart, but there are so many good dogs out there that need homes. In an ideal world all dogs, aggressive and otherwise, would be able to live out their lives in a nice comfortable place where everyone is safe. Unfortunately, we don Read more:Potential
One year of Raw 2007-07-10 17:29:05 Check out this old post of mine from July 5, 2006. That was when I started to feed the dogs raw.
Very cool, it’s been just over a year.
I think the dogs are doing very well on raw, and I plan on keeping it up! They do get kibble once in a while, Avoderm, when I’m out of town as the husband hates feeding raw. Finding good prices is the hardest part of it all, I think.
July Agility 2007-07-10 17:18:44 Well this weekend we have an agility trial. Three days. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Should be a lot of fun. I’m so excited because Friday is excellent only, and after four years of trialling finally Levi and I get to go to Excellent Only Day! Woo Hoo!
In practice his weaves have been really good so maybe we can get some Qs. It will be indoors, but it might be hot anyway. So we’ll see how he holds up. I haven’t trialed him for about three weeks now so hopefully he’s good and rested and ready to get back at it.
It’s pretty much our last AKC agility trial of the summer. There may be some later.. well, we are going to one day of one in September, before we head out to dog camp, but then there’s not much until maybe November or December. So we’ll try out some other venues if they are around, I think my bank account can handle it.
Next April I still want to go back to Las Vegas, as it was a great trial and I have about $60 of Vegas Vouchers I c
Yay we are back up and restored! 2007-07-10 16:26:01 Woo Hoo.
Bluehost restored
the database, and so my right menu bars are back and good as new. It would have been a pain for me to mess around in the raw backup code to get them out. I would have done it, but it would have been a pain in the rear and time consuming.
Bluehost got the backups. I had backed up my posts between now and their last backup, so they are also restored.
The Bluehost servers have been down for four hours, though, so if you tried to reach me and couldn’t, that was why. Hopefully they are fixed up and no more down time! If you may have commented and don’t see it anymore, probably it didn’t get restored… I backed up a while ago so sorry about that.
*runs off to do my own backup*
