Cuban Baseball poster In honor of the baseball playoffs (Now that the Angels are out of it, I guess I'll root for...ahh who cares?), here's a Cuban song with baseball as its theme. It's by Conjunto Casino and it's called Que se corre la bola. I'll try to find some others. By the way, the album is fantastic. Listen to Que se corre la bola Radio Cuba, Vol. 2

Chico O'Farrill: Fiebre Tropical
2007-11-10 14:10:12
I promised in this post to get an album with Chico O'Farrill and Generoso Jimenez. Well, better late than never. Most of the songs on the album Fiebre Tropical are interpretations of Cuban standards. They're wonderfully played and gentile- clearly for a sophisticated American audience. Here's one of the selections called Perfidia. O'Farrill was a Cuban who made it big in America. The wiki says he influenced Cal Tjader. Listen to Perfidia Fiebre Tropical

Paul Krugman to keep Southerners from voting until they stop being racists So, I propose not letting Southern whites vote for 12 years- time enough for some serious soul searching. When we allow them back into the community of decent people, they should be cured and begin voting for things smart, loving people vote for like free reagan southern strategy Iraqis returning home by the thousands Iraqis are going back to iraq now that they know it's safer The Bionic Woman keeps getting better Ironically, as the show has become more watchable, it's ratings have declined (See here for story). Well, C and C, apparently linguistics is another casualty of education budget cuts. Basically, the Goa'uld took people from Earth to populate their planets with the slave labor necessary to mine Naqahdah, the basic power source for the

Hillary Clinton Cuban Campaign song: Es mi hombre
2007-12-15 22:57:54
I actually think it's quite admirable the way Hillary Clinton stood by Bill during his troubles. To celebrate her extraordinary fidelity, I selected Es mi hombre. I found this entry here: Maurice Ivan's Es mi hombre, in a cha cha cha time version sung by Rosita Fornes, Cuban television and theater diva for her interpretations of operettas and zarzuelas. Under the guidance of maestro Ernesto Lecuona she entered her professional career. In this version she is accompanied by The Castro Brothers' Orchestra. Listen here. The box set has some songs which I haven't seen anywhere else including priceless live performances. You can get the downloads here.
