An Experiment on Getting YOUR Technorati Ranking Higher 2007-05-11 21:11:02 Your NOT reading a way to boost MY TechnoratiRanking
, but this is an experiment to see if you could possibly boost YOUR Technorati Ranking
s with this scheme I have in mind. A Tiny Signs experiment.
As you all noticed, Technorati has included the Technorati Authority for blog listings and search results pages on its recent update. The Technorati Authority is the number of Links your blog is getting in the last six months. The old ranking system has now been changed:
It is important to note that we measure the number of blogs, rather than the number of links. So, if a blog links to your blog many times, it still only count as +1 toward your authority. Of course, new links mean the +1 will last another 180 days.
Technorati Rank is calculated based on how far you are from the top. The blog with the highest Technorati Authority is the #1 ranked blog. The smaller your Technorati Rank, the closer you are to the top.
So what does that mean? Well, It could be a better way of ranking blogs sin Read more:Experiment

Gila Chess Patzer 2007-05-11 20:28:29 I used to play and love Chess in Elementary and High School. I have beaten and crushed a couple of players who are much older than I am. But I do not know why I stopped.
Now, this is isn’t about me since it is Tiny Signs’ Links and Kisses. My next “victim” is…
Andrew Ooi, or better known as GilaChess, who considers himself a chess patzer - has a couple of blogs, Gila Chess Patzer - his blog on chess and other related to it. He is a web developer from Malaysia who love chess and is struggling to get past rank 1600 in World Chess Network (WCN).
Aside from informations about chess, his Gila Chess Patzer blog talks about his thousand dollar experiment - taking him away from his usual chess topics. One post that caught my tummy was those cute chess cookies (**yummy**), here in the Philippines, we say “eat” the opponents pieces rather than capture. Those Flicker photos on the top part of his blog is nice.
Aside from his Chess blog, he also has a per
Too Many Social Networking Trains - which one works? 2007-05-09 17:44:49 While visiting a couple of blogs, I noticed most of them go into trains to increase their traffic. You may have also done this before, but here are my thoughts about it.
You have those Technorati Favorites, BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog and many more Trains
, but I wonder if it really is effective. Well, for me (just my Tiny Signs thoughts) - if your site has an existing nice traffic with frequent visitors, readers who has accounts on those trains you join - you could actually increase your rankings/community on these sites.
A problem I encountered when I jumped into a train is getting run over. I posted my MyBlogLog Link Express train on the same day that I have decided that I am giving out link and reviews for a simple linkback from your site. So readers just read about the details of my newer post than read more about/join the train I just joined.
Another problem was the limitations of MyBlogLog in the number of communities you join, I stopped when I got to 15 - so I had to wait for the day Read more:Social
Linkrambler 2007-05-08 17:57:36 Ever wondered how you could keep up with those promotions, awards, contests, memes, giveaways, linkbait opportunities, or other ways to bring traffic to your site or blog?
Well you could end the search for it, Tiny Signs’ Links and Kisses present…
Ray Johnson of Link Rambler provides you with information on where to find linkbait, contests, giveaways and Expos/Conventions about the Internet keeping you abreast with information you need about internet and increasing traffic to your own site.
I have personally tried some of his posts about having your blog reviewed or about reviewing other sites like Blog Raters, Practicing Reviewing Sites. There are also a lot of information about blogging contests such as Top 5 (where you could win $1,001!), and Web Analytics contest (an article writing contest on “The Future of Search Marketing” with a price of $400).
What I liked about his blog was the lack of obstructive ads which other blog put all over their site EXCESSI
Join me in saying… Links are Free! 2007-05-08 10:51:54 As you all know I want to give out those links for free, so I have installed a DOFOLLOW for the comment area. Yeah, all links from in your comments are now backlinked!
I thought of enabling this after I finished my theme for the site, but I do not know when well it would be finished so I just enabled the plugin instead, hopefully, this would give my readers more reason to comment on what I have been blabbing about. Hehehe!
As of now, I have been getting quite a bit of traffic, I haven’t done much to increase this, maybe the free links idea was one of the reasons I have a couple of frequent visitors. I know I have a lot more of things to do to get more traffic into the site, a couple more communities to join, write a lot of nice contents, and more friends (bloggers).
Thanks to those who gave me a head start in building a quite traffic this past week, It really have increased the traffic. I’ll keep you updated about what has been with Tiny Signs, your friendly programming tut Read more:saying
Inside My Frontal Lobe 2007-05-08 10:31:02 How do you combine medicine, science and technology? Is it even possible? Tiny Signs think so…
Kucau of Inside My Frontal Lobe just does it nicely and efficiently on his blog. This middle class man with a daily job, blogs about his interests on open source, gadget related, and scientific breakthroughs and is able to combine all three flawlessly with a hint of humour on his blog posts.
Although I am not into medicines (drugs as my friends would aptly call it. Hahahaha) or medical terms and science stuff aside of course from what is happening inside my 5-years-old computer – I have been visiting his blog a couple of times as I have learned about a thing or two about scientific things. I never thought there was even an alternative to ultrasound – which he discussed on Finding Out The Sex of Your Baby - I encountered a term, Y chromosomes, which I learned in Biology class in high school.
He also has a couple of website reviews and information about wordpress and blogging essenti
2Perfect’s Weblog 2007-05-08 10:18:46 There are a lot of Filipinos overseas – may they be working or living abroad – is around 10 million or about 11% of the Philippine population. Some of my relatives have also migrated to the US, but they have not changed a bit – they still know Filipino, Pangasinan(Pangasinan dialect) and Ilokano (a dialect in Ilocos Region).
Here is another Filipino invading the internet brought to you by Tiny Signs’ Links and Kisses…
Two Perfect
Weblog is a compilation of thoughts, interests and experiences of BJ – a blogger born in the Philippines and is now living in Canada.
He has a lot of post about his high school life, he actually listed his list of things to be done on his to-do.txt list. He talks about what transpired on his exams in Math and Physics, as well as, his English assignments such as reading and making an essay on The Wars and his review on the English Patient.
But not all his post is about his school life, I came across hisOne World Video (the making) which details
So busy I couldn’t write any tutorials 2007-05-07 21:48:08 I am quiet busy, so no CSS, PHP, VB.NET or any programming tutorials this past few days.
Yeah! I have been busy with a this new theme for the site. I have been trying to get it done before wednesday but I don’t think I could actually pull it off. I am not good at designing and each day, I scrape a couple of areas now and then that is why it is really getting me over worked.
Another thing I am considering is the Links and Kisses section of the blog. As you have known I still have been worried about it last week. Nothing much has been done by yours truly on the tutorials but I had been busy trying to compose a super lengthy tutorials on PHP so keep posted.
Here are a couple of links that some of those VB.NET programmers out there who is not able to download the Express Edition, SharpDev could be used as alternative VB.NET 2005. I used it for my VB.NET programming, but you can also use it for your C# and BOO projects which is available for free - Sharp Develop 2.1

This Pinoy Veterinarian in Singapore does not only give you a place to visit in Singapore like The Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, he also showed me where Singapore is with The Little Red Dot: Where in the world is Singapore? - I always thought it was near Japan (*giggles* well now I know a little on world Geography).

What is it with Alexa Traffic Ranking? 2007-05-14 11:46:09 You might have heard or read somewhere something about increasing Alexa
Traffic Ranking
or trains pertaining to Alexa. I have heard about it through a friend saying that I could check my traffic through it.
According to Alexa,
Alexa’s traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1.
Alexa’s traffic rankings are for top level domains only (e.g. tinysigns.com). We do not provide separate rankings for subpages within a domain (e.g. www.tinysigns.com/about.html) or subdomains (e.g. tinysigns.freehostia
WordPress 2.2 “Getz” is now out! 2007-05-16 10:51:24 You may have been waiting for the release of the new WordPress version, I have been waiting and now it is OUT - Wordpress 2.2 “Getz”!
I have just downloaded the new version of WordPress from its official download site and would test it locally in a couple of hours. Widget plugin users would now be happy because the Widget functionality is now applied to the core code, which means no need to activate the plugin to use widgets for your sidebars.
What I really want to test are these features that was stated on their release:
We now protect you from activating a plugin or editing a file that will break your blog.
Core plugin and filter speed optimizations should make everything feel a bit more snappy and lighter on your server.
Well, I have a couple of hours of testing this release but would not yet use it on this blog, I am quite happy with 2.1.3 but if I see a greater need to upgrade it, since on the WordPress official blog about the release - they said that the latest rele
My Untwisted Vortex free logo 2007-05-20 19:43:12 You may have noticed that I have been out the past couple of days, I have been looking for work and then got sick because of the extreme heat…

A great way to monetizing your blog 2007-05-28 16:50:33 There are a lot of opportunities to monetize your blog, I have tried a couple of them and is not yet earned any from them, but I am not yet losing hope in earning while blogging.
Yesterday, a friend of mine recommended Bloggerwave to me. I tried signing up for an account and today I received an email telling me that my blog was accepted.
So right now, I am trying out this opportunity to earn while blogging. What I liked about this is that, I could earn while writing about things on the Internet, may it be an opinion or review about a site or product - which I have already been giving for free, so why not earn from it…
Since my friend had already recieved payments from writing, I would also recommend Bloggerwave to of you so you may also enjoy the opportunity of turning your blog into an earner…
How to get your logo replace your blog title 2007-06-10 06:48:19 With millions of blogs and websites on the web. It is difficult for your site to stand out from the rest of them. One of them would be having a unique and memorable header.
In Wordpress, the <h1> tag is commonly used for the blog title and as you might have know the title should be the first thing to be seen on your blog. It should stand out from the rest of the text.
What better way of having your blog known is to get a nice little logo yet Search Engine Optimized. The Voice of An Angel 2007-06-30 10:56:56 We may had been inloved in the album of Charlotte Church entitled “Voice
of An Angel”. She was a little girl then attractive. However she lost all the admiration for she wasn’t an angel when she became a teenager. She became wild.
There is a singer whose voice I believe is better than of Church’s, the voice of Miss Saigon, the Voice of Aladdin, the voice of Miss Lea Salonga. Her performance have been always outstanding.

The Awesome Celtic Woman 2007-07-15 22:22:46 Celtic Woman was filmed on September 15 2004 for PBS Television in front of a capacity audience. The show was organize by producer Sharon Browne. The performance was first broadcast of PBS March 2005 in the United States. Within a week the Celtic Woman debut album catapulted to #1 on Billboard’s World’s Music Chart. It went on through a breaking record of 81 weeks.
According to the observers, their success must be credited to PBS’s extensive publicity in the United States. With such talent and charisma, these girls are attractive enough to get the attention of the viewers. The group consists of Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha and Hayley Westenra, and fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt.

Rent A WP Coder! 2007-07-26 21:05:53 Another month has past and i haven’t have a decent post in my blog. I am really so busy with my work.
I do not even have time browsing those favorite blogs I frequently go to like RT’s UntwistedVortex, Spuds’ Nice4Rice, and alot more of those guys who have got me started with the traffic I had.
In the next few day, I might now be able to get back into my blog and give out some tutorials which I think would benefit those who wants to customize their blog (using WP) through the creation of themes. I have got alot of experiences off my work as a theme coder for a friend and would be more than happy to share a couple of things i have learned creating some themes that at first I thought wouldn’t be compatible with IE6+ and Firefox.
It was a really great experience working my brains to the limit with those themes. I couldn’t possibly give out those themes since I had sold them to my friend but I would be more that happy to code your wordpress theme for you.

PHP vs ASP.NET: You decide! 2007-08-07 23:39:03 Well, this has always been a never dying comparison for me. I know a little bit of ASP.NET and a couple more in PHP but I generally program in PHP since I am happy with what I have done with PHP. So once again, I am more into programming my applications in PHP more than in AS, but hey that’s just me so don’t take my word for it but you should try both and decide for yourself which programming language you would use.
In the PSU Eastern Cluster Forum (where i frequently post some thoughts), another member, named Freeza, posted things about the topic but is kinda failing to convince me to change from PHP to ASP.NET.
I do not hate ASP.NET but questioning the power of an open-source language against one that is now freely distributed by a corporation is just isn’t right. I know there are a lot of things that ASP.NET can easily do, like the datagrid, which is now also easily done in PHP with the use of classes (Thank GOD!). It is also easier to develop an application in A

I am looking into continuing on writing about programming and WordPress Themes now in between my breaks (I don’t get alot) but I think that would start things up. So I thank all those who have sticked with me and continue in reading my blog, hope that my next posts would interest you…

Life after College… Life after PR Update… 2007-09-06 10:46:54 College Life has been an enjoyable journey for me, i could still remember those ‘hanging out’, quizzes, exams, cramming and cut-classes like it was just yesterday.
It has now been 5 months since I finally graduated from Pangasinan State University and I am now happily teaching in another University, yet couldn’t get over the fact that I still have a lot of things to learn and want to learn more, but how? Masteral, my colleagues would recommend. I would like to take up my masters but do not have enough money to send myself back to school, not yet!
Like what I have been feeling, my blog has been missing it’s Google PR. I was also eager of flaunting my PR4 badge(predicted PR for my blog), but after realizing that the PR was not updated, I tried looking for answers. I found nothing! I do not think that PR should not be abolished since PR still works on other websites and I envy them of having that green bar light up on their blog and not on mine.
