Reading marathon
2007-10-18 23:23:00
Reading MarathonWow. These few days have been the best. I have nothing to do. No work, no projects, it is beginning to bother me. I usually take 1 day off work and school when I am too busy and I feel like I am about to break down. I call this my Mental Health Day. I do not remember taking any Mental Health Day this year, perhaps I took it sometime after practicum, just to keep myself sane. Usually I will spend the day doing nothing, maybe some cleaning and reorganisation, shopping. But mostly, I like to sleep. I love to sleep, who doesnt? Haha. But sleeping well not only rejuvenates oneself, it also helps to keep one alert so that one can perform better in daily tasks.A taste of what Diamond lifestyle is like? Maybe. On Wednesday, as usual, it is always a blast when Munir shows the plan. I was just talking to Naf about it, if I find a husband like Munir, I am sure to go DD in 6 months! Haha. Anyway, I think Sarimah and Munir are meant for each other. I learnt so much from this quiet la

FED and FED only
2007-10-30 02:49:00
FED and FED only Today I am going to write about FED and FED only. For those who are not sure what it stands for, FED stands for Free Enterprise Day. It is basically a celebration, where people with dreams still alove come together and celebrate each others success. It is also a time to learn from those who succeed and to get yourself re-acquainted with your dreams.I did not realise that we missed FED last year. It was only after the team announce about FED this year, I realised that we wasted a whole year last year! Anyway, I still remember the first time I went to FED. I was only a 6%ter and I brought along 2 different lines. Some of my team did not follow me to FED for various reasons, but I can tell you that my heart ache all the time I was there, simply because they have missed so much, so much information, so much knowledge and so much inspiration. I can describe and atalk about my experience there all day but it is just NOT the same as being there yourself. That FED changed my li

What should I be when I grow up?
2007-10-29 01:29:00
What should I be when I grow up?You Should Be a TeacherYou are patient, optimistic, and good at explaining things. You work well with all types of people, and you are a good role model.Success and positive outcomes are extremely important to you.You are both a good leader and instructor. People look up to and depend on you.You do best when you:- Can see the results of your work- Are able to teach someone a new skillYou would also be a good nurse or non fiction writer. What Should You Be When You Grow Up?It is freaky when I find this quiz to be too accurate. Maybe there IS a certain way about how the brain works that affect the type and personality of that person. You must be wondering why I am so free in school? I stopped classes with the P3s and P4s (those who see me after school) before the exams and I am not sure if I want to continue the classes. I want to, but making them stay in school after curiculum hours is making me feel bad so I thought I would just take them as and when durin

Being positive and its complications
2007-10-28 03:29:00
Being positive and its complicationsNoi, your position as eldest child shows most strongly in your self-esteem.Similar to other eldest children, you are probably in tune with who you are and what you want. You are conscious of your limitations but you are more aware of your positive qualities. Being the eldest child put you in a leadership role. To sustain this position, you learned at a young age how to leverage your positive qualities, or things you were better at than your younger siblings, to your advantage. This natural, though possibly unconscious, insight into your own personality enabled you to obtain whatever you set your sights on. People tend to enjoy your company because you are confident and have a positive outlook on life.Birth order influences your relationship with your parents, siblings (if you have them) and how you ultimately learn to interact with the world. It can provide an insightful way to better understand your approach to friendships, romance, and how you meet

Believing the words of those you trust
2007-10-27 10:29:00
Believing the words of those you trust Look at the picture above. Isnt it lovely? I have always have a thing for beaches and I simply love the feeling of walking along the beach, especially during sunset. The atmostphere is so serene to me and to be able to walk along the beach on a daily basis with my loved one, shall for now remain a dream, but I shall achieve this soon enough.Anyway, this picture above represents many things. You can interpret yourself. This week has been filled with so many fulfilling events and news. I am excited to share with you, with the hope that you will find your own inspiration from daily events. Its all around you, you just have to look.1st IncidentThe boys started their exams on Tuesday. I was determined to see all of them (even though they all from different classes!) before their exams to wish them good luck and also to give them that extra boost of confidence before taking their paper. I met some of the P2s and made them promise me that they will never e

I am cereal.
2007-11-02 23:47:00
I am cerealYou Are CerealPlayful and lighthearted, breakfast is likely your favorite meal of the day.(In fact, you're probably the type who sneaks cereal as a midnight snack.)Your culinary skills are probably a bit lacking... and you are a sucker for junk food. Some people accuse you of eating like a kid, but you prefer to think of yourself as low maintenance. What Kind of Breakfast Are You?This quiz is right. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. Its light and I usually get to decide what I eat. After getting a shock with the news that my mum had to retained in the hospital for check up on her high pressure, I decided that I should start to change my diet. Oh, do not worry, I am not going to starve myself, that plan never works, but what I am looking at is replacing some of the food we eat to more healthier food. I thought we have been eating too much fried food, and food with high levels of cholestrol. I made the family switched to wholemeal bread, made sure we drink boiled water

Where is the money??!!
2007-11-09 01:56:00
Where is the money??!!You Are a ChimeraYou are very outgoing and well connected to many people.Incredibly devoted to your family and friends, you find purpose in nurturing others. You are rarely alone, and you do best in the company of others. You are incredibly expressive, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by your strong emotions. What Mythological Creature Are You?I am not pretty but please, I DO look better than the chimera. Haha!I was so inspired by Lisa last week that I decided to start writing during open meeting first session. I was amazed by the amount of rippled thoughts one can have while listening the winners speak. This Wednesday, Arul and Lynnette was showing the plan and as always it was full of laughter and excitement. The following was what was written in my notebook, I could just write and write. Arul started by asking the guests about the different kinds of ways we can make money in Singapore. Some mentioned, getting a part time job, tutoring, investing, starting a sm

Test! Yikes!
2007-11-06 00:07:00
Test! Yikes! As a child I have always hated tests and exams and I never really understand why we have to gauge how good we are via the test scores. As an adult, I still think that but that so does not mean I am a lousy human being. So I have this FTT later and apparently I miscalculated! I thought the test was going to be in mid November and there I was happily procrasinating. But NOooo...the test is today and I just STARTED reading the book like last week. I just cannot help falling asleep while reading (I know!) and I just finish reading the book last night. I wonder how much information was actually retained in my brain.BUT, if I do not pass, I probably deserve it for being so last minute. If I do, I shall celebrate! No harm trying!*Panic*

Inspiring movie
2007-11-11 08:10:00
Inspiring Movie So I have watched many movie s about teachers that were inspiring, but never quite like The Ron Clark Story.I saw this movie accidently at a hotel in KL about a year ago, I was so hooked by the story that I stayed in my hotel room just so I could watch it. In a nutshell, this story is about a teacher who got the worst class in a one of the worst schools. Through his unique teaching ways, he was able to turn around the lives of the children in his class. This is actually a true story. You can read the article here. Even though I am a huge fan of Matthew Perry, the storyline and natural flow of the story moved me so much that I caught myself laughing, crying and sometimes doing both at the same time.In this article, Ron Clark himself said:'These kids might become good test takers but they won't become lifelong learners,' he says. 'Because of the system, teachers become burnt out and put kids in categories and if you tell kids they can't learn, they won't learn.'How t

Love
2007-11-10 09:17:00
LoveToday my life was touched.I was just walking around to see whether anyone needed my help when Dennis came and approached me. He said this: You have to meet this boy.So I went.I went. I saw. He was just sitting in his chair, looking obviously really bored. I asked him for his name. Ethan. As he answered my questions, one by one, he started to hold my hand. He grabbed 2 of my fingers and then began touching my watch."Why do you like to touch my hand, my watch?" I asked, really curious for an answer."Because, it is so pretty. Look! This scarf is so pretty too!You are pretty!" He was also already holding my scarf.Awww. So sweet, but of course I dont think he can sense my emotions at all. He was obviously very intelligent and speaks with a really cute american accent. I guess this accent is making him look so adorably loveable? That was a child with autism.I hurt my feet again today after being made to stand and walk around for 2 hours. I know, it sounds like a punishment right? I was on

Cluttered- no more!

Cluttered- no more!Your Mind is 58% ClutteredYour mind is starting to get cluttered, and as a result, it's a little harder for you to keep focused.Try to let go of your pettiest worries and concerns. The worrying is worse than the actual problems! How Cluttered is Your Mind?I just spent the last 45 minutes checking and answering emails only, by the time I am done, I am too tired to even go anywhere else online to do my next tasks. Oh what have I become? I do not want to be one of those people so occupied and busy with nothing other than work. That would be pathetic. I am supposed to be away from school this 2 weeks due to the course and unlike some other diligent SNOs who went back to school after the course ends at 12.30, I didnt. Not that I am lying around at home relaxing but I am at home still coordinating and working in front of the computer. I also thought that the VP and my RO are quite flexible with the timings, I shall spare them from the so many details about work. Haha. I di

Finally here!
2007-11-24 10:15:00
Finally here!Hi friends! I know I have been missing in action here for quite some time, I hope you did not miss me too much! Haha! The truth is, there has been too many happenings these few weeks so I will TRY to summarise it all in this post! Be prepared for a long post.As you know, I was at Cheras during the weekend for FED. It was phenomenal. I dont even know how I can describe it to you so that you can truly understand and feel what I feel. I was so fired up that I had flu and fever on Monday and had to endured it the whole week! And I do not get sick that often! To keep myself from being too hyper and excited, I shall type the happenings all according to the dates. We arrived at IMM at about 9 am and the bus was supposed to leave at 10 am. We (Nurul and me) thought we were early but when we arrived, Elizabeth, Boon Xiong and Philip were already there! A few minutes later, our team started streaming in so by 9.30 the whole BK was filled with our team. We were told to eat first as th

Peaceful

Peaceful You Are 86% PeacefulYou are the epitome of inner peace and total calm. You are grounded, emotionally mature, and very wise. While no one's life is perfect, you have a great amount of perspective on the world - and you place in it.How Peaceful Are You?Despite the madness of running around Singapore during the weekend, I was suprised that I was able to not panic too much when things do not go to plan. I used to be so neurotic when things dont go according to plan, but now I have learned to relax and just make the best of the situation.I was also reflecting back on why I get angry. Its the bus. The bus makes me angry when I fail to catch it, when it arrives late, when it takes 30-45 minutes to arrive. I feel like I spend half my time waiting for the bus, running after buses, sleeping in buses since I moved to Ubi. Last week, while I was having courses at IMH, I took a solid 1 hour to reach there. I realised that when I was able to finish listening to 1 whole tape each morning that

Finding Time
2007-12-01 10:58:00
Finding TimeI have been deprived from writing here! This has been an extremely hectic week for me and finding time to check emails and not to mention coming here is a challenge. However, it is a good challenge as this madness is only temporary. Next week looked equally busy for me and I am eagerly waiting for the last week of December when I will drop all work related to teaching and just leave it alone until the school reopens. Hmm, what are the chances of that happening? Haha. I felt that I got to meet almost all my close friends this entire week! Lets see, I saw Naz, Mooch and Ulf on Monday, Wati on Tuesday, the Britt team on Wednesday, had lunch with the SNOs who went for the AVID training, met Baz, Hanim, Fidah, Massy and Farhanah today at Darul Maawa and the teachers from SAJS at Daniel and Jo's wedding! Hmm, that was almost everyone in my immediate circle! Also, I had the chance to bring Mama to eat Ayam Penyet on Thur, which happens to be the only free day I have this week. I

Sleeping with sharks
2007-12-09 02:33:00
Sleeping with sharksOh well, not really, haha. I didnt want to sleep with anywhere near the sharks even though there was a glass separating us.As most of you know, I had the opportunity to not only visit Sentosa, but also stay there for the night! The last time I was there, was 20 years ago and of course so many things had change. I was so priviledge to be invited to join in the trip along with 4 other teachers. We slept inside Underwater World, literally, in the tunnel area, the whole stretch of it! I was excited ok, I thought, even more than the boys. Let me just give you a brief description of what happened. We arrived at about 6.30 pm and we had 2 facilitators guiding us and explaining about the Udnerwater World before we actually went inside it. The boys asked the silliest questions, which, I must admit, I had the same questions too. For once, I thought the boys were more knowledgeable than me because they were able to name some of the rare fishes, while me, the adult, was refering

Facts I like
2007-12-22 09:54:00
Facts I like I was linked to this test sometime back, I cant remember from whom I got this from so if you are the one, thank you. I like this test. All I did was to key in my birth date and they generate a scroll about me. Interesting but of course the facts are not entirely true.Sometimes I wonder why most people like to believe the facts about their signs. I think its bogus. However, what I do believe is that, people who choose to believe what they read about themselves, will eventually be that person they read because their minds agree to the facts read by their eyes. For instance, I think and I hope that most of the fact on the scroll above is true, except I dont think I am the center of attention. I believe that I am quite the opposite unless when my principles and believes are challenged, I will voice myself out.Today is Saturday and I know next week most teachers will probably be back in school preparing for their class next year. Seeing that I had a whole month to do that, you

Me?
2007-12-19 01:54:00
Me?Hi lovely people. I am going through one of the more challenging days. However I know that I will get pass this stage and move on!The decision to be at the malay open was a good decision! I learnt so much, mainly the malay words for showing the plan. Our dear leader Aman and Melly were awesome and as they were speaking, I cannot help feeling so amazed and full of admiration for this couple. It was a simple plan, too simple, ordinary people, too ordinary. The simplicity just blew me away. I believe that last night was a begining, there will be many more open meetings in malay and I am too excited about it!What happened yesterday was, instead of asking the different levels of pin to stand, they called out ibos to say a few words. So while the host was inviting someone on stage, he called ' miss nur afri' and I thought, wow what similar name we have! However, nobody stood up so I turned to the back and mouth 'Is it me?' to ImNeo. Anyway, after that he said the right name and it tur

Way or no way
2007-12-17 08:59:00
Way or no wayHi my dear readers, I am sure you guys are having a blast this month. December is always the month of celebration and joy. Anyway, I do apologize if I have been jumpy, hyper or distracted when you are trying to engage me in a conversation. There are so many things running through my mind and I even dreamt it when I sleep at night. Subconcious mind taking over? By all means! Haha. The good news is that I am way out of the comfort zone this month. You see, when you set your mind to do something, your brain will start looking for ways for your goal to be achieved. Its the work of the subconcious mind and it is really powerful. That explains why you always dream (when you sleep) of what you usually think about in the day. This month goal. Way, or no way? Hmm, I do believe that it will happen and even though it will not be easy, it will be done. My mind is made up and I will find ways to get this done. That is why the picture above caught my attention. I remember this same feelin

A little preview
2007-12-15 07:47:00
A little previewThis week has been extremely full of excitement for me. I was so itching to write it all here but my incredibly hectic schedule has not allowed me to do so. Nevertheless, I am here now so yay!Where shall I start? Ok lets start with the Grooming Workshop that happened on Tuesday. I must thank Naf because if it was not for her constant checking for the tickets, we would not have been able to be there. Thank you dear! It was awesome and now I finally know why I do not look good in any red or yellow outfits. Its the wrong colour type for me. We had to do a short survey and I discovered from there, that I am a cool person. This meant that I look good in blue, purple etc.Wednesday was very hectic! Firstly, I was busy cleaning and reorganising my workstation because Ruthlynn was coming over for a visit in the afternoon. Somehow, I was able to finish making the vowels flashcards that I have been wanting to do since donkey months ago. My lovely guest really asked me a lot of que

Settling for something less-- or not
2007-12-25 02:09:00
Settling for something less - or notYou Are an OptimistYou definitely see the sunny side of life, even when things aren't going so great. And while you may not be a realist, your optimism has really improved your quality of life. You have the energy to take charge, solve your problems, and enjoy life for what it is.Optimists are happier and healthier - so keep thinking positive! Are You An Optimist or Pessimist? This test results was not really a shocker as I thought it was quite predictable. If it was any other way, I would probably kick myself! Haha!Optimists ARE healthier and happier and even though deciding to become an optimist may seem easy for some people, maintaining the optimism can be a challenge at times. I do catch myself saying negative things and sometimes I dont realise it until much later. I would regret what I said and keep thinking how my words had affect the person talking to me. The good news is that I am getting better nowadays. The trick is to think first what I am g

Real story writing
2007-12-23 09:41:00
Real story writing My brother is watching soccer and that means only one thing for me. I get to use the computer! I still hate the fact that I do not have my own computer until now but I will get it one day. It can be extremely stressful when I am in a rush to check pv on the computer, or any last minute email about meetings. I have no choice but to deal with it until I get my own laptop one day. For now there are so many other things that I have to priotize. This was how my desk at home looked like as of yesterday, Saturday. I know! Very messy! This week was very hectic and the only time I used this desk was during changing of bags. Also, whenever I packed my things in a bag, I will tend to make sure I have everything in that bag especially when I am going to different places where I needed different things. I hate it when I forget something and it is disruptive to my thought process. This is why I take at careful time to pack my bag and make sure I have all that I need. This is also wh

2 pictures, world's apartYou Are An Introvert! You're not necessarily anti-social, but you do tend to need a lot of alone time. You tend to think before you talk, which doesn't make you the loudest person in the room. While you aren't outgoing, you are a good listener - and you tend to be a loyal friend. And you enjoy your friends as much as any extrovert does, in smaller doses. You're more of a conversation over dinner type than a party animal... and so are all your friends. Are You An Extroverted or Introverted Girl?I think I know the results of this test way before I even did it. You know what is so funny is that people who recently know me do not believe that I AM an introvert. It is to their belief that introverts will never be able to speak publicly and they will not be a good coversationa

Cookies are preferred, but you'll eat anything if cookies aren't around. You are famous for: Your slightly crazy eyes and usual way of speakingHow you life your life: In the moment. "Me want COOKIE!"The Sesame Street Personality QuizI am such a big fan of Sesame Street and I am sure most of you are too. I test and do screening on students almost every week and it always baffles me why students just cannot remember the sequence of the alphabet. Perhaps, when we were kids, watching Sesame Street helps us to remember the sequence of alphabet. I remember reciting the alphabet song so many times! Also, I think most of us learn how to read from th

Good problem

Good problemYou must be thinking that I am so free seeing that I have been blogging 3 days in a row. On the contrary, its been exhausting, in a good way.I am having a good problem. I have run out of lit packs! All I have is empty files and 1 cd. I just cannot remember who I passed my other copy of Prosumer Power to. If its you, please return it to me! I cant move on without it.On the other hand, you only need to have faith on 2 occasions:- When things are not going your way- When things are going your way From above:Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.Happy mid week Wednesday! Evolve
2008-03-02 01:02:00
EvolveIt is a rainy Sunday afternoon. Don't we all just look forward to Sunday where we get some free time to spend with our families to do whatever it is that we like. I have been spending the last few Sundays with some 'must dos' and I was determined to make this Sunday free so that I can reorganise and clean my room that is begining to look like a sty. I realised that I have been looking forward to Sunday since Tuesday and it really bothered me when I could not wait to get the week over and done with on the second day of the week. Its not that I was tired and really exhausted with the so many things going on and the amount of work I am doing, but I find that I have to have some free time to myself to allow myself to recharge before starting yet another week.Speaking of that, it is March

Listen and believe
2008-02-25 07:39:00
Listen and believe I am in so much excitement especially after watching Kumar's profile video. I was even more excited after looking at his beautiful house and the size of the house is so huge, my whole family can stay there and there will still be enough space for everyone.Anyway what was even cooler was that it was styled like MTV Cribs, where audiences get to peek into the house of artistes. It was the SAME style but the only difference is that, he is no artiste! This looks like a really exciting week and I will be really busy meeting individuals who have been qualified to see the plan. Amazingly, even though my schedule may looked really packed with a lot of things going on, the best part is that it is all part of the process to have an even bigger success. My team is growing in all dir
