Ahmad Carroll waived days after charges were filed for gun possession and drugs 2007-05-07 23:43:06 Carroll was questioned by Atlanta police early Saturday after he was identified as someone involved during a disturbance at a restaurant, authorities said.
Atlanta police spokesman officer James Polite said Carroll acknowledged he was carrying a 9mm pistol. Police then searched his car and found 11 pink tablets believed to be ecstasy. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon without a license, possession of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Carroll, who is from Atlanta, was released Saturday on a $7,000 bond.

Baseball is joining the trend. For the first time in its history, the baseball entry draft will be aired live on ESPN2. Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 7th at 2 p.m. ET from Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The broadcast will end at 6 p.m. ET. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said the telecast, “will give fans access to see this critical function of an organization’s development.

early Saturday on gun and drugs charges. Carroll, 23, was releaased on bond after a morning court appearance.
At about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a call of a disturbance involving a weapon at Beautiful Restaurant on Cascade Road in southwest Atlanta. Carroll, who was said to be involved in the disturbance, was questioned by officers and admitted that he had a weapon, Atlanta police Officer James Polite said. The NFL cornerback consented to a search of his person and his vehicle, Polite said.
Carroll was arrested on suspicion of possessing of a firearm in the commission of a crime; carrying a concealed weapon without a permit; carrying a pistol without a license; and possession of 11 pink tablets that police believe to be Ecstasy pills, Polite said. Carroll was taken to Fulton County jail.

The young Utah Jazz are moving on in the NBA playoffs with a new point guard and power forward combination.
With fresh faces — but the same, old coach — the Jazz beat the Houston Rockets 103-99 on Saturday night to clinch their first playoff series victory since 2000 — when John Stockton and Karl Malone were still running the pick-and-roll.
Carlos Boozer is the new inside force and Deron Williams is the guy running the offense. In Game 7, the results looked awfully familiar.
Boozer had 35 points, 14 rebounds and five assists and Williams had 20 points and 14 assists as the Jazz became only the seventh team since 2001 to come back from a 2-0 deficit and win a series.
“We have to finish up and see where we end up and then look back,” Boozer said. “If we get too excited, we won’t be having too much more success. We have to stay hungry, otherwise we’ll be going home soon, too.”

winning in a Split Decision (I don’t know where the split comes from) after 12 rounds. This was a fight that boxing hoped would bring back the sizzle
of boxing’s glory days where it highlighted the sports enthusiasts and the common fan. The fight was good at best with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. landing precision punches and De La Hoya coming in with multiple body shots and proving that Mayweather has a way to go if he wants to compete in the heavier weight classes. He just was not hitting hard enough to knock out De La Hoya.
I think that the conclusion of the fight in the last 10 seconds was too little, too late when both boxers exchanged punch after punch which as a fan would have loved to see earlier in the fight. And one of the suprises was the decision where one judge decided to decide in De La Hoya’s favor.

Mcnair, former Tennessee Titan and current BaltimoreRavens
QB, was arrested Wednesday for DUI by Consent. The only thing was, HE WASN’T DRIVING! He was a passenger while McNair’s brother-in-law was driving McNair’s car.
In Tennessee, if you ride with someone who is DUI then you are arrested also for the same thing.
Under Tennessee law, the owner of the vehicle can be charged if he or she is the passenger when the driver is arrested on DUI charges. The owner can be charged even if he or she is not intoxicated, Foley said. It was not clear whether McNair was impaired.
I am always riding to Nashville and was not aware of such a law and I am assuming that he didn’t either. The real question is why McNair was not driving? This is the second time that Steve McNair has been arrested for DUI.

The series that should have been the Conference Finals in the West (no disrespect to you Utah, but who wants to see you), it has come down to whether the supsensions in Game 4 that ended with Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw out for Game 5 and Robert Horry out for Game 5 & 6, would effect how the series may playout.
