In my earlier post: It happened in India , I mentioned that I shall re-read this book & post the reviews of selected topics as I read them. Book Review : It Happened in India by Kishore Biyani with Dipayan Baishya. After reading this book, a majority of readers would become Kishore Biyani Fans! or KB Fans for sure. Kishore Biyani is addressed as KB or KishoreJi within his organization & friends, This book is a winner from the word Go. True to his style & philosophy, Kishore Biyani has included all the people in the book who have made his happen. Not just by mentioning their names, but by interviewing more than hundred people, getting their thoughts in the form of ‘their stories & versions’, in each chapter of the book. Their narrative is appropriately placed within each chapter & their thoughts on that particular topic give a insight from the very people who were involved at that particular stage of the project. To me, personally the most important pa

That’s an impressive growth of number of Indians on Orkut, considering the fact there are hundreds of thousands of new registrations of non-indians too worldwide. Inspite of that, the growth is phenomenal. See below both the diagrams which give the demographics of people on Orkut. BlogCamp Pune aftermath
2007-06-19 13:59:23
BlogCamp Pune happened on 16th June 2007 IBNlive ’s Video coverage about the BlogCamp Pune below: First, hats off to Tarun & Parag for organising this BlogCamp Pune Shilpa Dhamija’s article in IBNLive was titled: “Write blogs, earn up to Rs 1 lakh”. No doubt, Eklavya & Team from WatBlog are doing a great job covering the Internet Advertising and Technology scene in India. However Shilpa’s article would be interpreted by a newbie as an easy way of making fast money. Well, please, please don’t be under this impression. For every blogger who makes 1 lakh per month, there are more than 1000 bloggers who make nothing. [me included] I just wanted to that straight. Back to BlogCamp Pune on 16th June. Started off with no WiFi , but Good T-Shirts! So far, the best run down blog coverage, I could find was that by Lokesh Sapre. I would request you to read his post here. The threads that i sat through were of Purple Nova, Fropper & SMS Gupshup

RingBack Tone Advertising Opportunity
2007-07-07 01:31:02
Everyone is now familiar with Ringback Tones or CRBT [ Caller Ring Back Tones] as it called in Telecom industry. The normal [tring tring] sound of a phone ringing is substituted by a sound of the subscriber’s choice. These can be jingles, songs, popular movie dialogues, mimicry of famous actor’s voice, etc. Nowadays in corporate India, companies that provide their employees with mobile handsets have their company’s advt punchlines & jingles as default ringback tones. ET has a report on it here. Now, what if advertisers could play these jingles or ads on non-corporates, ie retail mobile users. It could be offset by the cellular operator giving back a portion of that amount to the user. If this amount makes any significant difference in the everyday mobile bill of the common man, I bet there would millions of people who would opt for this facility. COAI reports that the All India GSM subscriber base for May 2007 was 130 million. Enter Google. Google is what it is to

Google Local India
2007-08-21 04:03:58
Google Local India has been launched. Now every single shop, restaurant, hotel, any small businesses like kiranawalas, professional services like architects, dentists, etc can upload their details which will be listed on Google. Imagine the enormity of the records database. India has around 1 Billion people. Take say, around 1/10 of them have some kind of business which they can list, so that’s 100 Million. Out of that say 1/100 of them get to post their details on Google Local India, that would be a million records. Every business listing comes with details like Name, address, contact numbers, best time to call, even photos can be uploaded. There are Reviews too! Since this service is new, recently launched, Google is displaying results for say, Mumbai restaurants, directly into the Google main results. This is their way of “Product Launch”, no need for any fanfare, just include it into the everyday Google serps. However, I guess that this will be switched back to
