LOS ANGELES (AP) — USC safety Josh Pinkard was arrested
earlier this month on suspicion of driving under the influence, coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday.
Carroll planned to speak with Pinkard, a 21-year-old junior, either Tuesday evening or Wednesday.
“We’re looking into it, and we’ll find out the details,” Carroll said. “As usual, we’ll handle it internally. We take this seriously, and we want to make sure we understand all of the circumstances.”

Coach Steve Kragthrope on Wednesday did not specify why the players were dismissed.
Fit the Bills? J.P. evolving into star QB 2007-05-30 04:22:32
It would be hard to blame Buffalo Bills
quarterback J.P. Losman if his head has been spinning for most of his first three seasons in the league.
He was forced to learn three different offenses, playing under two different coordinators, which meant learning new plays and wordy terminology every spring and summer.
With little fanfare, J.P. Losman’s 2006 QB rating was barely south of Tom

running back LenDale White did not make it back in time for Tuesday’s organized team workouts, leaving coach Jeff Fisher unclear about White’s whereabouts.
“Everybody else managed to make it back,” Fisher said. “He didn’t, so I don’t know, I guess he had things that are more important to him than what we’re doing. I would assume he would be back at some point today.”

Players union supports Pacman in appeal (AP) 2007-05-30 00:11:37
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The NFL Players
Association is supporting Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones’ appeal for leniency to league commissioner Roger Goodell.
“Your suspension of Jones without pay for the entire 2007 season is clearly excessive and much greater than discipline imposed upon other players for the same or similar incidents,” the NFLPA said in a letter to Goodell May 23.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Braylon Edwards
didn’t want to talk about his one-day absence from the Browns
’ voluntary practices last week.
But his place in the wide receiver pecking order Tuesday appeared to speak volumes how the team felt about it. Edwards took reps with the third-team offense and was the last receiver in line during position drills.
“There’s no significance to it at all. He’s trying to learn the system,” Browns coach Romeo Crennel said. “It is not

How Emmitt Smith has changed since he left NFL 2007-06-02 14:12:59
By Scott Pitoniak, Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle These days, women are as apt to ask Emmitt Smith
for a dance as they are for an autograph.
And that’s understandable, because the Dallas Cowboys legend created quite a stir last year while Fred Astaire-ing his way to victory on ABC television’s immensely popular

As part of a charity promotion, the Cincinnati Bengals receiver has agreed to race a horse at a track next weekend. He’s not running against Mr. Ed, so his gift for in-your-face gab won’t help.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Johnson said Friday, after the first day of minicamp. “It’s going to be fun. Some of the things I’m going to be doing this year are crazy, and racing a horse is one of them.”
