This Just In... Stores 2007-04-26 06:41:00 Singer Lilly Allen is coming out with a clothing line called Lilly Loves. The line will be sold in a store called New Look, with locations pretty much everywhere except here. If the clothes are anything like what she usually wears: vintage inspired dresses, ghetto gold chains... well then maybe this could be for this New Look store what I thought Madonna would be for H&M. I really expected more from Madonna. I can't wait to see what the clothes look like!

Be Scene 2007-04-22 08:30:00 Spotted this afternoon at a horse rental place on Magnolia and Riverside by the Los Angeles Equestrian Center:Rose McGowan!I have always been a fan of hers, since I first saw her in The Doom Generation in 1995. Since then, I've followed her all the way to the outrageous Grindhouse, where she played "Cherry". So to see her there as my friends and I were filling out paperwork and waiting for our horses to be ready, was an unexpected moment of excitement in my day. She looked absolutely beautiful with very minimal makeup, wearing jeans and a denim jacket. Very inconspicous. My friend turned around and mouthed "Isn't that...", and I mouthed "Rose McGowan! OHMYGOD!", and practically swooned. Only in Los Angeles can you spot such a lovely starlet when you go riding... and not have the place be in an uproar. What's so great about Rose McGowan is her edge. There is something incredibly punk rock about this woman, while coming off as a modern day Vargas girl. Rose has a film in pre-productio

Be Scene 2007-04-20 06:46:00 Spotted at the Los Angeles Textile Show at the New Mart in the Fashion District, Downtown this Tuesday:Jeffrey Sebelia, winner of Project Runway! I was very excited to see him there, as I perused fabrics and trims... He was a favorite of mine all season, and I feel his win was justified! His look was a little bit raunchy, a little bit rock and roll... but also classy in a young, hip, kind of jet-setting way.A few of my favorite pieces from his line: Check out the website for his line Cosa Nostra!
Myspace Disgrace 2007-04-20 05:45:00 " Do you prefer 'fashion victim', or 'ensembly challenged?' " ~CluelessWhen is this EVER okay? *sigh* Honey, the shirt goes OVER the bra. Not that you should be wearing that kind of bra with a strapless top, anyway. But say you do... the shades of pink in the bra and the tie clash with each other. The boy shorts over the jeans with the top tucked in? Someone please... if you know this girl, save her from herself. And save her clothes from HER!
Featured Fashionista: Chloe Sevigny 2007-04-18 19:04:00 Chloe Sevigny:She has definitely come a long way since I first saw her in KIDS as a troubled young girl with AIDS. Now on the HBO series BIG LOVE ( second season premiers June 17, 2007 ), it is clear her career has flourished over the years. Another consistant evolution has been in her unique and under-the-radar sense of style. She somehow always manages to create a look that is just slightly hipper than the pulse of what is going on in the fashion scene she relishes in. I have more than once asked myself, who is inspiring who? Are the designers inspiring her looks? Or is she inspiring theirs? Whether she is choosing it well, or wearing it well, it matters not. Her true BIG LOVE for fashion, shows. It seems she has remained humble in her success, still favoring that special vintage find: "I still prefer to buy vintage over spending it all on one designer," she expressed to the Times. "My mother encourages me to spend a little," she said. "It still feels weird. Even now I never live bey Read more:Featured

From A Pile Of Stuff 2007-04-18 18:01:00 "This... stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made

of Art hosted the Costume Institute Gala, held in honor of Paul Poiret.Paul Poiret was a pre-WWI era designer who pioneered in such designs as the suspender belt, the sheath dress, the sack dress, flesh colored stockings, culottes (now I know who to blame for THAT!), and the modern brassiere. He also designed oriental couture dresses and was the first coutourier to launch his own fragrance. To give you a feel for the evening, here is a quote from AHN:"Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour hosted the evening along with Nicolas Ghesquire of Balenciaga and actress Cate Blanchett. The three stood on the red carpet and greeted guests such as Kate Moss, who wore a backless black fishtail gown from her TopShop collection, Kirsten Dunst, who was in vintage midnight blue Yves Saint Laurent and Cameron Diaz, who showed up in a strapless hot pink gown by Dior by John Galliano."Celebrities of both the fashion world, and the entertainment world

Another Reason To Love Her 2007-06-13 03:22:00 Chloe VS Judi on high-wasted jeansHow do YOU feel about the high waited trend returning? I have mixed feelings. I think like the skinny jean, it's a trend that only some can properly pull off, yet everyone will try. On the other hand, I love that vintage vibe of the high waist. Read more:Reason
The Anti-Socialite: Paris Hilton Released from Prison 2007-06-26 03:17:00 She's a lot of things but "good actress" doesn't top that list, though she does do her best to try. She is wearing what looks like something from the window of Talbots, demure expression on her clean face, hair in a braid (did one of her fellow inmates sit and braid it for her? lol)... trying to exude the new Paris
, the humbled Paris. All the while, as she is walking towards her mother, she's sauntering towards her as though kicking up daisies on the runway. Honey, please. I'm not sure whether to love her or hate her. Seriously. I flow from admiration to disgust with every swish of her non-existant hips. Paris doesn't get dressed, she costumes. And today her role was "woe is Paris". Whoever styles her should be nominated for Superior Costume Design or something. Love her or hate her she's like that tragic accident on the freeway: you have to stop to look. Read more:Hilton

Featured Fashionista: Cory Kennedy 2007-06-26 13:57:00 Im not really sure where she came from. All I know is she looks like what my grandmother would call a "ragamuffin", ALL the time. Yet pulls it off in that superskinny, post heroin chic, pseudo-vintage, anti-trendy trend, and I am envious. She's beautiful in a unique kind of way, and dare I award her the compliment of being a young Chloe Sevigny who models instead of acts? I dont know her deal... but I like it. And Im paying attention. Visionaire No. 52: Private 2007-09-26 04:56:00 So I just deleted everything from my online store because, of course, it's time for a new season! As I am browsing through merchandise, seeking out only the stuff worth looking at so that you, dear readers, don't have to... I happened upon this book. A few posts ago ("A New Look For Fall" on 09/15) I made a little slideshow of an editorial shoot I liked by the photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The book, which I absolutely MUST have, is called Visionaire No. 52: Private
... and is photohraphed by the same team! Even better though, is teaming THEM with Marc Jacobs himself as the Editor!! I just HAVE to see what such amazing photographer's will do with Marc Jacobs eye, and such interesting names involved as subjects. To love fashion and couture is to love photography as well. They are synonymous in an intangible kind of way. Just read what the Visionaire website has to say:"Photographs by Mert Alas & Marcus PiggottGuest Editor Marc JacobsIn collaboration with Louis VuittonPRIV
Truly Fabulous Finds at Target 2007-09-26 02:32:00 Last week I went to my local Target
to kill some time. I was expecting to pick up some household items, maybe some warm fuzzy socks to wear around the house. I am infamous for the hours I can spend in Target. Wandering the aisles, browsing everything from books to blankets. I made my way through the accessories department. Accessories are just TOO easy to shop for. You don't really have to try them on, and like purses, they always fit. Well, except for rings. Rings don't always come in a whole range of sizes at places like Target. Anyway, I happened upon the line that Dominique Cohen did especially for Target stores. A jewelry designer that sells her chunky, fun, and sophisticated pieces at high end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, has brought her incredibly "now" style to Target. I purchased these two necklaces, each for $29.99, and I have been wearing them together. I like that they tie with ribbon. You can adjust the length to go with what you are wearin
Judith Leiber Heart & Snake Miniaudiere 2007-09-24 23:49:00 Something that always fit's... Your purse. And I am head over heels in love with this new Judith
Leiber clutch! Dripping with jet black austrian crystals, this hand crafted gem is lined, and comes with a double sided mirror and matching coin purse. For that devil may care girl inside us all, you can add some rock and roll to your gown carrying this. And being that it's a Judith Leiber, you can keep it forever, pass it down to your daughter... blah blah blah, whatever it take's to justify buying it!You can pre-order it from Neiman Marcus, guaranteed to ship no later than 10/22/07, if you are willing to dish out $1995.00 for this priceless treasure. Talk Isn't Cheap Anymore 2007-09-24 20:14:00 You heard it here first! Armani and Samsung have joined forces to bring us not only an Armani cell phone, but also a line of home electronics. The cell phone, which will cost approximately 650euro will premier in Europe as soon as November. Next up will be an Armani LCD television to be sold from Armani Casa locations. Armani is not the first to do the cell phone thing, we've seen Dolce & Gabanna and Prada already bring us their take on the cell phone, an accessory none of us can seem to do without. However he does seem to be the first to extend his brand by way of electronics for the home."Today fashion has expanded to encompass our way of life, not just how we dress, but how we design our home, the hotels we stay in, the car we drive and the technology we buy," Mr. Armani said. "These are all lifestyle decisions, where design and performance are the criteria."The phone is said to be credit card sized, and boasts a 3 megapixel camera, a music player, and an internet browser, with a 2 Read more:Cheap
Products I Actually Use 2007-09-22 04:06:00 I have naturally curly hair, and though I love to sport wild ringlets, I have bangs now which means constant straightening. Blowdrying with a round brush rather than using a flat iron tends to give my hair amazing curve and body. Over the years I have become quite expert at it, if I can be so bold to brag. Additionally, I have probably tried every styling product created to straighten hair, eliminate frizz and flyaways, protect hair from heat damage, keep the hair smooth without adding weight, being sticky, or feelings greasy. I have tens of bottles of all shapes and colors. Creams, serums, sprays... and I usually end up using a combination of the above to get the results I actually want. Always ending up able to feel the product in my hair when I touch it after styling.I went to the Beverly Center a couple of days ago and wandered into the beauty supply store, in search of Neem Oil. It's what my stylist (the AMAZING Guy Riggio @ John Frieda on Melrose Place) told me he uses when stra Read more:Products

The Future of Fashion? 2007-09-18 15:13:00 This weekend I stopped by the Wired Magazine Nextfest, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This was the first time I went to anything like this, and I wasn't expecting to see the next wave in fashion at a thing like this, but I did! Enter CuteCircuit. From their website:"At CuteCircuit we are working on making technology that is more usable, emotionally fulfilling, and fun! We think that wearables will be the future tool for personal communication. Like a dynamic surface around our bodies able to connect us to people and places. Many of our wearables are compatible via Bluetooth with mobile phones, this allows for a faster deployment and adoption of this technology.CuteCircuit wearables are beautiful and pleasant to wear: no loose wires, no hard shells, and no backpacks full of batteries or visible technolo Read more:Future

This Just In... Stores 2007-09-15 18:45:00 The time has FINALLY come, Chloe Sevigny (who we LOVE!) has began to unveil her line! Check out this amazing article by Renata Espinosa for Fashion Wire Daily. I have yet to find images, but you KNOW the second they hit the net, I'll have the best ones right here for you to see!Chloe Sevigny Debuts Collection for Opening CeremonyRenata EspinosaSeptember 14th, 2007 @ 4:04 PM - New YorkAs a teen, when I first started raiding my mother's closet for all her carefully preserved vintage accessories – saved from her years spent living (in my mind) the jet set life of a TWA flight attendant – I used to think about my own wardrobe of acid-washed Chic jeans, polka dot stirrup pants and Express tunics and think to myself, "Oh, I should save this stuff, because it's going to come back for sure." This was the early '90s and retro revival was in full swing, so while not a particularly original notion, it did get me thinking about how I might preserve, and potentially resurrect, my own histor
A New Look For Fall 2007-09-15 14:44:00 After some time away from the blog (and I *did* miss it!), the Cult is back and with a whole new look to the page! I hope you like it! It was time for a change anyway... you know it's time to go shopping for fall when you go to get your mail and you are greeted with at least 5 lbs of weight to carry inside, thanks to both Vogue and W boasting their "Biggest Issue EVER!". (Vogue has 840 pages, W has 640. *sigh*) It's so exciting! I had to wait to look through them, for that perfect time when there is nothing to distract me and I can really gaze at the details in the pictures that some people think are just "ads", but are really inspiration for fall. (sidenote: I love the paper W uses to print on. I love how it feels as you turn a page... heavy, some pages thicker than book paper. Quality makes a differance.)There were plenty of examples of actresses and singers instead of models in the ads for some significant designers and brands.
