Another Monster Mustang …
2007-05-01 08:08:22
Couldn’t help it&hellip ;had to show off another monster Mustang muscle car. I’ll make this one brief - you like the pictures more than the words anyway. What we have here is the GT500KR, from Carroll Shelby. Only 1000 Mustang aficionados will have the pleasure of driving this GT. This King of the Road packs 540 hp & houses a Tremec 6-speed tranny. A bucket full of extras such as a super-tight suspension package, high-end springs and a mean looking scooped-hood are all tacked on for your enjoyment. Even so, I’d still be a happy camper spinning the wheels of this ‘03 Mustang GT…

Top 15 Family Rides…And They’re Not All Boring.
2007-04-30 00:01:57
The Top 15 family roadsters have been picked&hellip ;keep in mind these are family vehicles. Parent’s Magazine & AAA compiled the data. MPG, reliability & safety trump 0-60 times, quarter-mile trials and skid-pad results. The main category was safety, based on government & automotive crash rating findings - including modern safety technology.  (Simplicity of use was graded as well…meaning, how easy it will be for Mom & Dad to lug all of the accessories needed for a family outing.) My favorite: The Dodge Caliber. Nice mileage, very practical and a respectable fun-factor. There were five categories this year: Crossovers SUV’s Minivans Sedans    Economy cars Crossovers Toyota RAV4: 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway Dodge Caliber: 23 mpg city/32 mpg highway Ford Edge: 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway SUV’s Honda CR-V: 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway Chevrolet Tahoe: 15 mpg city/22 mpg highway Hyundai Santa Fe: 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway Minivans Honda Od

Shelby Super Snake…Sick!
2007-04-28 06:47:32
Ford & Shelby Automobiles are at it again - this time it’s the incredibly intense GT500 Super Snake they plan to release late in 2007. For most Mustang lovers, their only glimpse of this beauty on wheels will only be this photo&hellip ;so enjoy it. A few lucky (rich) stiffs, and their buddies, will actually get to drive one. Pretend you’re one of these guys for a moment - here’s what you’ll get. A Shelby GT500 Super Snake coupe with a Ford Racing Supercharger; a 5.4L V8 with an amazing 600 horsepower…that’s right - 600! And there’s even an option for a  725-horsepower motor. Other mods include a Ford Racing Handling Pack that adds adjustable dampers, lower springs, bigger stabilizer bars and a front strut tower brace. The brakes are of course bigger and fit snuggly behind a set of Shelby-designed Alcoa 20-inch wheels. Ok - now come back to Earth.  You can still turn some heads and tear up the road with a 2005 Ford Mustang GT withou

10 Best Whips Under 18k
2007-04-24 23:23:09
Check out the top 10 coolest, affordable vehicles, priced under 18k, according to KBB… Sporty, stylish & smaller is the theme for this year’s list. The prices are great; the fuel economy is even better. (The Scion, above, gets my nod) Nine out of 10 will give you 30mpg or better. Note that half of the vehicles are hatchbacks. Goodbye SUV’s…hello three & five-door cars. (Again!) Chevy Silverado Classic - Tough, roomy pick-up built to last… Ford Focus SES 2-door Hatchback - Sporty, smart & roomy… Honda Fit - Hip+Fun=Fit Hyundai Tiburon - The shark keeps getting better… Jeep Patriot - The rugged look with a new attitude… Mazda 3 - You’ll probably test drive this one a 2nd time…so much fun Nissan Versa - Barely even sips gas while zipping you around…  Scion tC - Gaining more  & more fans every day with its unique style… Suzuki SX4 - errands have never been so fun - shockingly spa

Top Selling Cars of 2006
2007-04-23 04:13:26
The best selling vehicles list from 2006 has a different look to it - and its no shock to anyone that gas prices are the culrpit. Smaller and midsize passenger vehicles quickly became popular as the squeeze at the pump got tighter. A lot of last years larger vehicles and SUV’s not only got bumped from the list but their overall sales plummeted. Here’s the complete list… #1. Ford F-Series pickup Base price: $19,640 2006 sales through end of August: 545,963 2005 sales through end of August: 625,047; Percentage change: down 13% 2. Buying A Car…The Old School Way
2007-04-20 01:02:00
Mention negotiating car prices with a used car dealer and you’ll make someone cringe. Nobody likes it. It’s time consuming, stressful and frustrating. If you’re willing to invest some time online, you might be able to match wits with your next salesperson. Research the original price of the car when it first came out. Use this to determine the dealer cost. (The cost of the car when the dealer brought it from the manufacturer.) This cost is includes the dealer invoice, and the holdback. The dealer invoice is the cost the dealer paid for the car. Both Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book are great places to research dealer invoices. A holdback is a rebate the manufacturer pays the dealer when the car is sold. Rebates are based on the make and model of the car – around 2-3% of the total value of the car. Subtract this holdback from the costs and you’ll quickly realize how much the dealer actually paid for the car. Any hidden incentives to the dealer should be calculated. This is

So…Who Wants A Truck?
2007-05-08 06:07:54
Well&hellip ;the numbers indicate less & less people this year. Chevy Silverado sales fell 7.2% in April, Ford F-series down 13.7% so far in 2007. Another spike in gasoline prices and a slow-down in the construction market is a major part of the stalling truck sales. New truck incentives have reached as high as $5k per vehicle for the Dodge Ram - just about the only thing holding their sales steady. With new truck prices and gasoline prices going up faster than the tach on an Enzo, you need all the help you can get if you’re in the market for a pick-up truck. Save some money…just in case you find the desire to get yourself a hemi-grill this summer.

Good Gas-Saving Myths…
2007-05-13 07:55:54
Here’s an article everyone can benefit from, thanks to CNN, about popular gas-savings myths such as buying gas on Wednesday, restarting your engine and not using your air conditioning. One fact I took away from it - a little tip about using your cruise control: If your car comes equipped with cruise control, make sure you use it, especially on long trips. Edmunds.com’s study revealed that using cruise control at highway speeds offered an average fuel economy savings of 7 percent. Get the entire story&hellip ;Gas-Saving Myths

The selection criteria is based on fuel economy, insurability, reliability, safety, comfort and handling. Top 10 Gas Savers For Memorial Day Travel…
2007-05-21 16:29:09
Planning on packing up the family roadster and doing your best Clark Griswold impression this Memorial Day? If so, here’s 10 ways to lighten the load on your wallet so you’ve got more to spend at Wally World. Drive slower. (Duh!) It does work though. Slow down to the speed limit and you’ll notice how less you stop to fill up again. Let all lead-footers pass on the left - you’ll probably get to your final destination in the same amount of time too&hellip ; Pace along-side big trucks. Truckers try to keep an even pace whether it’s in traffic jams or on the open road. This saves more gas due to less shifting. Slower starts. You’re not Jimmie Johnson or Kurt Busch. Lay off the pedal and pull away from the green light nice and easy. Lay off the car accessories. You’re not Jay-Z, you’re Clark G. Remember? For long trips - smaller, thinner stock wheels give the best performance. The more tread you have, the less fuel economy you’ll

Car Dealer Confessions
2007-05-25 10:35:40
Want to know what goes on behind the scenes in a car dealership? What if you knew their tactics? What if you were one step ahead and took them out of their game? Traditional car dealership salespeople are trained to follow a specific route. If you know their route - now you’re in control. Discover traditional car dealership tactics in our new section: Car Dealer Confessions. I had the opportunity to sit down and pick the brains of a successful ex-new & used car dealership salesman. I knew right away, when I heard his stories, this is the type of info people needed to know. Check it out. Share your own stories too…

Rookie Car Salesman…On The Point.
2007-05-30 23:34:49
Part 2 of Car Dealer Confessions&hellip ;by Tug Pullman.  When my intensive car dealership training commenced (about 2 days), I was paired with a veteran used car sales person whom they introduced as my “Mentor”. This gentleman enjoyed two hobbies: chewing tobacco and collecting the business cards of Sales People who either quit or were fired. His first action as my professional mentor: Showing me his “Wall of Shame”. Under his desk was a cork board, upon which he tacked the business cards of departed Sales People. He went on to tell me most people don’t make it past the first month in this business. He also showed me the spot reserved for my business card. Competition can be fierce in the automotive sales field. I didn’t know it then; this was the first overt attempt to “get into my head” by a veteran sales person. They like to keep the ranks thinned out so there were more sales for them. A young intelligent new sales person represented the biggest threat to t

Stop Stolen Cars..With One Finger
2007-06-04 14:56:13
No, not that finger. Now you can add another level of security to your favorite ride using the latest in biometric fingerprinting technology. (Fancy term for fingerprint reader) Install a small fingerprint reader in your car and you’ll have another line of defense against theft. How does it work? Simple - your fingerprint is scanned & loaded into the device. Run your finger across the device and start your vehicle. (And yes, you’re the only person who can start it.) The best thing about it is that you can now install this on any car or truck - not just a high-end exotic. Insurance companies provide additional discounts when you install security devices such as alarm systems and wheel locks; ask your insurance company if a fingerprint reader will add to that discount as well. Check out this list of the Top Ten Stolen Vehicles: Honda Civic Nissan Sentra Toyota pick-up truck Toyota Camry Dodge Caravan Chevy 1500 Honda Accord Acura Integra Dodge Ram Ford F150 Considering

Never Too Young To Start Driving…
2007-06-13 04:02:56
Here’s an interesting event you & the kids won’t want to miss. What do you do when your kids are a tad eager to start driving? Where do you take them when they’ve already mastered soap box derby racers and go-karts? The Answer is simple: A “Teach Your Kid To Drive” clinic. Kids, ages 5 - 12, will have an opportunity to earn their ”NYS Junior Pre-Learner’s Permit.” This Junior permit allows children the ability to operate a two-seater smart-car (automatic only) during weekdays, between the hours of 11am and 2pm. Think of the convenience factor if your kids can help with quick runs to the grocery store, pick up your dry cleaning or even just run Grandma to the doctor’s office. This clinic teaches kids the fundamentals of defensive driving, using turn signals and, of course, how to park in standard parking lots. Advanced classes are also available to teach the finer mechanics of parallel parking, pumping gas and checking tir

Finding the Best Mercedes
2007-06-13 00:30:58
- By Chauncey Dumfry; A Valet from Boston…    I’ve driven just about every Benz in production for the last five years, including the Mclaren, the SL65 and some classic models too. Working as a valet for four years in Boston, let me tell you, the new S550’s are by far the best overall. They’re as fast as you could ever ask for, and the interior is near perfect. I’d put the CL600/550 at a close second, the body of that car is beautifull, and again the mechanics and interior are top of the line. The ML’s are glorified mini vans and the G class is just stupid (unless you like almost tipping over while you’re cornering at 25mph). The R class are nothing special, they kind of remind me of a hearse actually. The SLK is the barbie car; you can’t look cool, as a man that is, driving this car. Women look great in it though. The E class is solid but not outstanding, with the exception of the E55, and the C class doesn’t really do it for me

Another Late Night at the Car Dealership
2007-06-14 21:22:05
Part 3 of Car Dealer Confessions…by Tug Pullman. Saturdays are the big days at a new or used car dealership. This is the day which makes or breaks your entire week. It’s not uncommon for a car salesperson to sell three or four cars on a Saturday. At this particular dealership, they had a lovely invention entitled “Midnight Madness” every Saturday. As you may have guessed, this means the car dealership is open until midnight on Saturday all throughout the summer months. Midnight Madness rules were simple: Sell a car and you get to go home at your regularly scheduled time. This was either 6pm or 9pm. If you didn’t sell a car, you were subjected to not only working the midnight shift, but also the shame and ridicule of your peers. And, if you have ever worked outside, on black-top, during the summer months in North Carolina…you know that a 16 hour shift is no prize. As you can imagine; fifty car sales people with type “A” personality aggressively pursuing a limite

Kool Whip Of The Week…2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
2007-06-19 11:50:37
The Auction Direct USA Kool Whip of the Week is this fun little 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT The aggressive organic stance of the top lines and the front scoop grab your eyes right away&hellip ;it looks ready to jump off the line. The extra 3.3 inches added to the width & the 360lbs. help beef up the stance. You can tell right away this one has more power than previous models - 25% more power actually. (3.8-liter MIVEC 263-hp, w/a McPherson sport-tuned suspension, compared to older 210-hp models.) Someone at Mitsubishi fell asleep at the wheel when they designed the older models; unless you’re a tuner-geek, it was getting difficult to tell a ‘99 from an ‘04 model. The model reviewed had the 5-speed Sportronic feature; anti-lock-brakes, 17-inch wheels, cruise control, power windows and split folding rear seats are all standard on the GT models. Other GT options include a 6-speed, aluminum pedals, heated leather seats & a sunroof. The chunky steering whee
