Mulberry Madness
2006-11-28 18:52:00
Semi-recently I discovered the beauty in a Mulberry bag. Never paid much attention to the brand until I stumbled on it on Net-a-Porter. Last night I re- stumbled upon it in Elle (UK Edition), and guess what it said... it appeals a new customer- " the girl who doesn't want everyone to know what she's carrying. Its understated" Seriously, all I have to say is I SO CALLED THAT! Do you all recall my recent post of my rebellion of the "it" bag. Can I get a "oh snap!" Well the same Mulberry bag I blogged about also happens to be on sale now (was $995 now is $597) Take a look at the Mulberry site (http://www.mulberry.com/), its really cool and there are a bunch of non- it bags that I want.

Hello Kitty Shopping Spree
2006-11-26 21:49:00
I love Hello Kitty , that is no secret- but putting me in a Sanrio store after a glass of wine (okay it was two)...now that is LOVE. I went wild and got some really cute stuff that I didn't need. A Hello Kitty Stapler, mechanical pencil, PEZ dispenser, waaaay too many notepads, lip gloss and best of all a compact mirror that sticks on to your cell phone!!!!!!! Unfortunatly, I couldn't find a picture online (www.sanrio.com) to show you all. But while I was online I decided to order a few things... Hello Kitty Coffee maker, business card holder, contact lense case. I was able to rationalize these purchases because not only are they cute, they are practical too!

2006-11-25 00:08:00
Yuppies. What comes to mind when you hear that word? Perhaps something from say the 1980's. Men and women who were once hippies then succumb to the draw of big business and high powered careers. Maybe you picture a navy blue business suit with white running shoes on a women, or the status symbol Rolex watch on the wrist of a yuppie man. A nice car, nice money, and of course a big ass cell phone. But of course yuppies are thing of past right? Wrong. Details slapped me in the face and said 'HELLO... we are living in a culture filled with yuppies' Check out the picture of Yuppies 2.0- anything look familiar? Yeah, thought so. Maybe we aren't all rockin' suits right now. But I for one know all about the Whole Foods "it" bag. I think everyone has an ipod surgically attached to your ear. Christian Louboutins are the new running shoe of the 1980's. Check out some of the article here (http://men.style.com/details/features/landing?id=content_5182) and pick up the December issue of Detai

Hip for Hats

I am a huge fan of the hat trend that is going on this fall/ winter season. Even though I am in a warm climate, I will still rock the heck out of a hat. In fact, it is the perfect opportunity to not mess up a perfectly good outfit with some bulky jacket. Now just any old hat won't due- there are still in's and out's of hats this season.... If you could only wear one pair of jeans for the rest of your life, which pair would you choose? ( I know...the shallow minded questions of a fashionista) But I really do want to know. I would choose my Citizens of Humanity Ingrid jeans. They were my first pair of premium denim jeans, I bought them maybe 4 years ago. I still wear them today, sure they are too big and the material is wearing a bit thin- but with a fresh washing (to shrink them a bit) and a belt, they are denim perfection. Gees- writing that makes me think I need to order a new pair ASAP. So which pair of jeans can you not live without? ***This just in- even shopbop agrees with me.... Citizens of Humanity Ingrid Pant Stretch When you're looking at the perfect cut, perfect wash, perfect pocket jean there's just so not so much to be said to add to their appeal.

Designer Alert- Yoga Army
2006-11-19 08:15:00
At today's Original Trends Holiday Bazaar I had a chance to chat up the folks from Yoga Army. I was immediately blown away by their incredible line, and for some reason I just could not pull myself away from the table. Clearly no one else could either, as it was the obvious winner of the "most popular" booth in the Original Trends yearbook- if there were such a thing. From dresses to tanks, pants to skirts; there was something for everyone in this up and coming line. The celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon…will you? ------------------------------------------ Can you think of a more empowering feeling than looking utterly fabulous and sexy? Well, okay saving the world and doing well for others is pretty empowering too. You may not be able to save the world, but Yoga Army brand clothing can make you look good and feel darn good about it. Why: With fabrications, clothing construction, and of course the designing all done exclusively in the

Mike & Chris Sample Sale
2006-11-17 02:49:00
I battled LA traffic this morning to get the skinny on the Mike & Chris sample sale, and while some made out like fat rats...I came out empty handed. My Mood: I went in with all sorts of excitment built up. I have one Mike & Chris piece that I really like and wanted to buy more, but when I got there my excitement turned to dissapointment. Something about the hustle and bustle of such a massivly popular sample sale turned me off from the buying process all together. My Reality: Tons of hands grabbing and pulling at garments with only one mirror (which was pretty small) for all the women to check themselves out in. So once you found your size and pushed your way to a piece of the mirror, you realized damn this jacket looks a hell of a lot better on that chick (and what the hell do I need a jacket for anyway). The Prices: Pretty good steals on some items. Cropped vests as low as $35, jackets about $150. Leather items a lot more expensive ( I thought)-- bags $400 leather jacket $

Wild about VOOM
2006-11-30 06:47:00
It is so hard to shop when you are looking for something! I have a red carpet event to go to for work, and although I will be working- I will also be rubbing elbows with some major celebs. So I wanted an outfit that is casual enough to run around like crazy working, but chic enough for red carpet. Quite a task huh? Well, naturally nothing in my own closet would ever do (even though there are clothes in there with tags still on). I had a certain outfit in my mind that I knew I had to wear, but the picture in my mind wasn't clear enough to know where to go. First stop Nordstrom, figure that's a no-brainer have to find something there right? So wrong. Not sure what's going on in Nordy's but there was NOTHING I wanted to spend my money on. Went to a few other LA boutiques and nothing was hitting it. So I assumed defeat and headed home. Thankfully the traffic is so terrible I was able to window shop on the way home and then my perfect fashion dreams came true at VOOM. Where has thi

Are scarves coming back into style? I have a whole shoebox full - some regular sized ones and some long skinny ones and some oversize square ones. How does one wear scarves (if they are back in)? Hate to burst any style bubbles- but scarves have sort of walked out of the lime light. They are literally so 5 minutes ago. BUT that is in eyes of someone who wants to avidly follow trends. If you believe you can rock the hell out of a scarf- then rock it! Here are some ideas- Get Frenchy: Be oh so chic and tying a scarf around your neck- Mechanic Chic: Look like a total hottie with out even fixing your hair, just pop a designer scarf around your noggin and people wont know what to think. I know I occassionally pull this look with my D&G scarf or Fendi if I am feeling classic. Whatever you do...... DO NOT DO THIS: Kristin is the epitome of 5 minutes ago.

As promised, here is a picture of the VOOM dress I got for the Arby's Action Sports Award s the other night. I had an awesome night and got to interview a lot of cool athletes and celebs (Pam Anderson, Tom Green, Xzibit, Andrew Dice Clay, Sal Masakela..just to name a few) Since I was working, I made the look a little more casual with J Brand Ink colored skinny jeans, Marc Jacobs flats, some funky bangles, and a red bag. I'm not sure if it's wise to have bought a halter top without knowing how to wear it...and I couldn't think of anyone else beside you to ask for help...any help with the attached halter top?..Thanks so much! Violet Virus PS. I love your "clothes-off-my-back" in your blog! :) First of all so glad you enjoy the Clothes off My Back :) And thanks for the question. I actually have a similar top somewhere in the depths of my closet that I should pull out. Here are my suggestions... Simple, Casual, and 'Oh So' Chic: Just pair this top with skinny jeans, tall boots and a wide LOW slung belt. Add a couple of bangles a big slouchy bag and you are out the door. Boots- Urban Outfitters Bag- Lauren Moffatt Sweet and Sexy: I can also picture this top with a mini skirt, sheer tights, and ankle boots Boots- Rosetta Fun and Funky: Again with a mini skirt or a short jumper, but have

I am not sure if this is within the scope of your website but I was wondering if you could locate the brand name of a white cotton shirt that I saw on an episode of Friday Night Lights? The episode is called "Crossing the Line" and came on 11/28 Tuesday. The white cotton shirt was worn at the end of the episode by the character Lyla Garrity (actress' name is Minka Kelley) while she was at a murderball game. It was a short sleeve white cotton shirt that was gathered at the bust and aline at the bottom. It had a tie in the back. I have tried to locate a picture of the shirt for a reference but thus far I have had no luck. I would appreciate any help that you can offer in locating this top as it is divine!!! And white cotton tops are a staple with jeans!!! Thanks for your time and consideration! Hi there, Thanks for the question. Unfortunatly I do not watch Friday Night Lights- I searched all of the most popular tee shirt labels- Ella Moss, Michael Stars, Tart, T-Bags, James Perse and

Hi! Your blog is awesome! About a year ago I bought a jean jacket (dark blue) that I thought was really cute. Although I love the jacket, I have never worn it because I'm not sure what would look good with it. Can jean jackets look modern because for some reason I keep thinking that they're very 90s. Should I just give it away? Please help. Thanks so muchOh my distressed denim friend, let me show you the light. When I first read your letter my reaction was jumping back in fright. Once you mentioned 90's I got a mental flashback of me in a pair of jeans, turtle neck, and a jean jacket-- and my hair was just awful! Once I recovered from that painful memory I started thinking. For starters I haven't seen a denim jacket in a store in quite some time, but I know they will always come back in style so don't throw it away. I actually purchased 2 denim Betsey Johnson jackets not that long ago and I don't plan on getting rid of them. I have dreamed up a little outfit for you that I think

It's Juicy Time
2006-12-10 04:20:00
The Juicy Couture charm bracelet has been around for a few years now. I always loved my best friend's juic bracelet and it was fun watching her collect the charms. I however, never really got into it for myself. BUT now- there is a whole new crop of charms and I happen to have a few Nordies gift certificates burning a whole in my wallet. Check out the charms that will be slowly added to my collection; lipstick, champagne ( a staple in my diet), and a cupcake (also a staple ). There are also some awesome zodiac charms, but sadly the scorpio one is ass ugly :(

Baby its Going to be Cold Outside!
2006-12-12 18:42:00
I am going home for the holidays in a week, while I am so excited to see my family and friends (haven't seen them in months) I am terrified of going back to a cold climate. My loathing for Los Angeles has subsided (you heard it here first folks) and I am spoiled rotten now by 70, 80 and the occasional 90 degree fall/ winter days. Its f-in fabulous people! Some mornings when I am pounding away at the computer for some early morning work and am simply miserable...I walk outside to my car and for that short walk I am deliriously happy. Until of course I arrive at the office ;) So the thought of sitting in a car back east chipping away at ice makes me sick. Me always turning a frown upside down with fashion, I try to think of the fabulous winter attire I am missing out on. Like this D Squared Jacket, sure it cost a ridiculous amount of money- but hey I am not really buying a $2k jacket for a week away so what's the harm in looking.

RIP Skinny Jeans
2006-12-13 04:00:00
Let me tell you, over the last couple of months I have been making a lot of changes. Banning the "it" bag, opening my wrist to an old trend- the Juicy Charm bracelet, living it up in a new city, working out like a feign and working harder than ever in the office! All of these things (some totally shallow) are causing me to find myself if you will and in this, I am finding I don't really like skinny jeans. NOW I DO like them for wearing boots over- you can't shove some boot cuts in a boot. But I just look better in flare/ boot cuts. In this skinny jeans fiasco, I totally started ignoring my best feature (my ass) for the sake of some silly trend. Screw that trend and word on the street is it almost out any how. Ohhh the life of a fashionista once a trend starts to climax we [fashionistas] are so over it and on to the next. Jeans by Rock & Republic "Kurt Sexy Jeans" $260
