How to determine the RGB / hex color code of a pixel 2007-04-27 16:42:00 I have just stumbled upon the latest article from Nirmal about a detailed procedure for finding the hex colour code of background. The procedure is a real elaborated effort on his part. But this can easily be done with the help of a small utility "Colour Cop" [Download here].The screen cap shows two tools; eyedropper and a lens, which can be dragged to any part of your screen. A zoomed image of the area around that tool can be viewed in the bottom square (preview pane) of color cop. The color of the central pixel of that preview pane is shown in the upper square along with the RGB as well as the hex code.If you want to change the hex code into RGB or vice-versa, simply type the value in the corresponding place. Isn't it simple. It is.

IrfanView can also perform some basic image editing and processing functions, including cut, crop, resize, resample, change the color depth, adjust brightness, and adjust contrast.A new version Irfanview 4.00 has just been released. Use Internet Explorer within Firefox 2007-04-28 21:28:00 Every serious blogger, at one time or other, has to tweak with his template and whenever you do so, it is suggested that you should check it in all available and prevalent browsers, especially Firefox
and InternetExplorer
.Now a die-hard fan like me finds it very irritating to open IE, just for this purpose. Then this convenient Fire-fox add-on (IE Tab) comes to my rescue. It is a superb attempt by Mozilla to be one-up against the competition. The First screenshot shows the area around my system tray. A left-click on the IE icon changes the currently open tab into Firefox (and then this IE icon changes to Firefox icon). To open it into IE, now I have to left-click at the same spot (where now a Firefox icon is available). i.e. it acts like a toggle switch. The second screen shot is of the open tabs, where an IE icon confirms that the tab, although open in Firefox, but actually is currently using IE platform. The third shot is of the download site, where you can download the IE Tab add-on.I Read more:within

How to make and publish flash file into your blog 2007-05-01 12:19:00 Now, you can also create and embed flash file slideshow from various images in your computer. See the attached show below. All you have to do is download Slide Show Maker and get going. The beauty of this program is that you don't require to search for a image hosting service. There is an option to host the output flash file to a hosting service 'Sky Album'. There is also an option to include music file during creation, which I avoided so as not to make it heavy to load. I find it very convenient.P.S.: The cartoons for creating this flash file were borrowed from [Credit: Funny Computer Cartoons]

Nokia Mobiles now to save power 2007-05-11 02:29:00 I am one of those kind (and I know there are many of this kind) who just plug their mobiles to their chargers for the full night and unplug it only next morning. But have you ever thought, how much power
does it waste. Listen, what NOKIA says... Mobile phones sounding a beep and displaying an alert -- "Battery is full, please unplug the charger" -- could save enough electricity to power 85,000 homes annually. And that's why they are developing technology so that your mobile phone could soon be prompting you to save energy by unplugging the phone's charger when the battery is full., reports Reuters. The phone maker has previously said it had agreed with other mobile industry companies on measures to reduce energy consumption and reduce pollution in the sector as part of a project in partnership with the European Commission. The unplug alerts are likely to first appear on its 1200, 1208 and 1650 mobile phone models. Technorati tags: Nokia

In a recent interview, Mozilla CEO Mitchell Baker said that one of the things people like most about Firefox is the ability to change and customize it and they want to bring that to the mobile version, along with the ability to give users a full web experience. "Most tech enthusiasts have wondered why web browsers on mobile phones suck so much. Mozilla Foundation CEO Mitchell Baker has been thinking about it too, and looking at how Firefox can be ported to mobile platforms." However, baker also told that it is a long term goal and not something that we should expect to see soon. (Oops!). Read more:Phones

Passwordmaker: Manage all your passwords with a master password 2007-05-09 19:58:00 Technorati tags: Password, Firefox add-on, Download, Mozilla Are you one of those, who can't resist the temptation of using single password (at most two or three) for all applications and websites. You know this isn't secure, yet you do it anyway. Why? Because it's difficult to remember a unique password for each and every web site that requires one. Sounds interesting, then read on. Passwordmaker, a Mozilla firefox add-on can manage all your passwords
with one single master password. It is unique for the website. For generating it, you key-in the master password and the URL of the site. Then based upon a complex one-way hash algorithms it generates a encrypted password and copies it into your clipboard, from where you can paste it into the website form. The important thing is that the master password is not at all stored anywhere. Coming from Mozilla, it is safe enough to be trusted.
